It takes elements from both the Eastern and Western concepts of combat mechs and brings them together in one big, gritty, gorgeous package. It's part MechWarrior, part Counter-Strike, part Fallout, part Ghost in the Shell, and completely jaw-dropping. Ah yes, the thread has returned. I've always loved mechs, and I have been looking forward to this for a while.
Is this going to be PC only?
Is this going to be PC only?
Initially, yes. Apparently they're thinking of making it free-to-play too.
I'm already enlisted. What do I do now? Wait?
I'm already enlisted. What do I do now? Wait?
I've been enlisted for months, and I haven't gotten any email back or anything. I'd just wait.
You have to get three friends to enlist, and then apparently you get to play the beta.
I'll probably end up playing this just because of the sound design.
You have to get three friends to enlist, and then apparently you get to play the beta.
IDK where to get the Beta.
Initially, yes. Apparently they're thinking of making it free-to-play too.
Bad news followed by even worse news. Just sell it on the cheap. $15 will confirm tons of purchases.
You have to get three friends to enlist, and then apparently you get to play the beta.
You don't even need 3 friends. You can sign up with just 3 different email addresses with 3 different names of course. Also.. Customization video http://www.gametrailers.com/video/customization-walkthrough-hawken/732518
on whether it's PC only, I read this recently and was kind of confused.
Hawken (PC) Before I go on, I have to say that this is easily the best shooter I played at E3. Hawken is a free-to-play FPS that puts players in the cockpit of massive mechs. These mechs, however, are neither slow-moving or clunky to control. On the contrary, the game is highly accessible as it was created with the Xbox 360 in mind. That said, a seasoned pilot can pull off some impressive maneuvers. The game controls like any other PC FPS. The ASDW keys handles movement, the mouse controls the reticle, and the space key causes your mech to jump or fly. In terms of gameplay, Hawken reminds me of Counter Strike. It’s emphasizes teamwork; lone wolves get picked to pieces. I learned that lesson quickly. During our first match, team 2D-X was decimated. We ran around aimlessly and didn’t communicate well. We then regrouped and destroyed our opposition, through quick coordination and effective teamwork. My mech was a heavy build, so I drew enemies out so my team mates could ambush them. Speaking of builds, you can customize your mech by either making it light (but brittle), or a slow, massive tank (that’ can withstand punishment). Hawken’s creative team stated that there will be many other ways to customize your mech by the time the game’s released. Hawken’s developers, Adhesive Games, has partnered with Gaikai’s open cloud streaming services to ensure that gamers everywhere can experience this game–regardless of rig. The game doesn’t exit closed beta on 12-12-12, but it’s looking damn good.
keep up with news and stuff here- http://playhawken.tumblr.com/
I got fully enlisted back in February, does anyone know when the closed beta starts?
[editline]22nd June 2012[/editline] Badass controller made to accompany the game.
I got fully enlisted back in February, does anyone know when the closed beta starts?
No word yet, but expect it soon, as the game has been shown off a lot more recently and is getting closer to completion.
Who oils axes?
Who oils axes?
Anyone who is interested in correct axe maintenance for years of trouble-free service.
Also, "Axe" = mech. I'm assuming mechs require a lot more oil than cars.
Bad news followed by even worse news. Just sell it on the cheap. $15 will confirm tons of purchases.
Not really. In fact it's usually the opposite. Those small multiplayer only shooters that get released for $15 almost always die within months. Even the good ones.
By the way, to reserve your screen name for the beta you need to refer three people. Anyone who wants to sign up, feel free to use my referral link
feel free to use my referral link
And then incoming pages of referral links..
Also, new video about customization at gametrailers
Also, new video about customization at gametrailers
Goddamnit, now I want this even more.
Also, new video about customization at gametrailers
You're 2 days late on that. I already posted it.
Also, new video about customization at gametrailers
Holy damn, everything in that video looks really promising. Also, the skill-per-mech system is pretty smart. [editline]24th June 2012[/editline] The last seconds of gameplay, i've never been astonished by the sounds and motions of a game like that.
Proving that unreal engine 3 can still be kickass
I'm going to try to get two pedals and set them up as W and S to use along with that controller. And I've been a fan of Heavy Gear for years so I hope I can color my mech like the Azure Devils. Next up, helmet.
I got into the alpha for this, downloading it now.
Got my alpha invite today, can't wait to give this a play tomorrow.
I got into the alpha for this, downloading it now.
Ditto, looking forward to it.
