Modding Tools
Jeff Thompson, the Studio Director of Programming at Volition, is putting together a package for us containing documentation, file formats, tools, and more on the Saints Row: The Third engine. Idolninja, Minimaul, and gibbed will be working closely with Jeff over the coming months to use this information to create a robust set of modding tools to supplement our existing ones and creating what is essentially a full sdk for the game! But, that’s not all! Saints Row: The Third is only the beginning! Jeff has confirmed that he will also be digging up all the Saints Row 2 info that he can so we can do the same for it as well, and that this undertaking is actually a “test run” for Saints Row IV.

So far all i can say is it looks silly. Good thing thats the main reason i love saints row.

I'll give them that, pictures like that warm me up to it a bit. But I still have my misgivings about the theme of things.
At the least, I hope they're willing to let Gat come back.

Dunno how to feel about this after SR3. Looks just like it, so I assume their engine test was a success. It still has its silly charm, just hoping it a lot of the content is cut into DLC again.

With that said, that weird eye-inflatey gun looks fun as fuck to use.

Had to edit it to size.
If they can bring back the things that made Saints Row 2 so great and mix it up with the gameplay and graphics of Saints Row 3 into a fine cocktail, I will be immensely happy.
Saints row has always been a bit goofy about the plot, so why not continue? I actually liked the third game, it was fun for what it was.
Well, that definitely looks like a Saints Row game.
Saints Row the Third to be precise.
The 'aliens after Earth's resources and women but being scared of this/these badass(es)' plot makes me think of essentially a freeroam Duke Nukem game using the Saints Row the Third gameplay as a base. Really lazy that they're reusing Steelport and all, but meh.
They'd better bring back the layer system back in 2 otherwise I'll be pissed.
Also anyone get the feeling this looks more like a expansion pack than a full fledged game?

It seems to be if Duke Nukem entered the matrix.
Superpowers? Superheroes? Aliens? The fuck?
Wait, if this takes place in a simulation, then technically, can't there be a virtual gat in it?
It is set in a simulation, if you escape it and it isn't the end of the game. We might be exploring a new city, because some area's in the trailer are different, they are running for President and the Promo picture has Washington DC (I think the area is)
It sort of makes me think of it as a sequel of the movie from The Third.

Or there could just be real Gat, he did pretty much come back at the end of Trouble with Clones. Although he would also make the perfect simulated guide to the simulated world.
Too bad it takes place in Steelport again, I was hoping for an interesting location. Even reusing Stilwater would be preferable, in my opinion.

I think its a good thing since they can focus on the gameplay, story, fun activities and missions.
They're also prolly going to add on to and expand steelport.
Kinda like what they did with SR1 to SR2.

Considering how bleh SR3 was, no chance in hell.
Never got SR3. If SR4 has a lot of the content from 3 and these new superpowers, I might pick it up.
I think in a convoluted way, Saints Row The Third gave me the fix I needed after going so long without a Mercenaries game. That's why I will be picking up this one, as I see it being more of the same awesomeness.
Maybe it would be better off as being marketed as an expansion, but we don't know much yet.
Probably not gonna happen but I hope character customization is more SR2ish this time. Was kinda pitiful in 3.
That and every vehicle being customizable.(Even something as simple as changing a planes n shits paint job would be nice.)
i swear to god if they make me buy a bowler hat in dlc this time someone's getting crane-kicked in the balls
It seems to be if Duke Nukem entered the matrix.
If I get this, I know who i'm gonna try to remake at least.
And if customization gets expanded to, say, SR2 levels (optimistically thinking here), it'd hopefully be all the easier.

Its probably maybe going to be like how SR2 was.
Where they took SR1 and built off of it.
