This is a relatively new game that was created in 2009 where it won Game of the Year by Game Genetics. In this game, you have the choice of controlling many nations during World War I. From the Wiki
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supremacy_1914
Supremacy 1914 is a multiplayer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real-time_strategy"]real-time strategy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Browser_game"]browser game created by https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bytro_Labs&action=edit&redlink=1"]Bytro Labs and published by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bigpoint_Games"]Bigpoint Games in which the player manages one of the countries in the world during https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_I"]World War I. The player competes with countries controlled by other players playing the same game, and with countries controlled by the computer. Resource management, province upgrades, and alliances play key roles in the game, in addition to the conquest aspect. The main view of the game is a map that can be zoomed in and out, but there's also a province view, which lets you see the upgrades to that province in a more realistic view than the list format that many games of this type have
The game world is divided by "provinces" which are set by borders. Provinces are territory that can be acquired. Multiple provinces make up a whole nation. Each province has a specific resource, which are all vital to the game as you will be consuming a lot of resources every hour to sustain your expansionist and broad empire. The resources are grain, fish, iron, wood, coal, oil and gas.
- The average game length is 1-3 months in real time. -
This is not turn based due to length associated with player actions. For example; sailing from Cyprus to the UK would take around a week in real life with the location of your regiment constantly updated on the map, with the possibility of changing course whenever you feel like. You should constantly check up on that sailing expedition in case you hit a blockade or are intercepted by another player/AI with malicious intentions. Same principle applies to land travel.
Each nation is represented by color. If you are (Red) Germany and you want to take over (Green) France - you do so by making all of France and any territories they acquired Red. You can also lose territory to an internal rebellion spawning an autonomous region if morale is low and/or low regiments in a province. The goal of the game is to make at least 50% of the game world your color. There are alliances, foreign affairs, trade, embargoes and use of spies available. Diplomacy is what makes the game really fun.
In the game, you can declare war, form alliances and to impose an embargo. You can also correspond with other players, and send spies who are trying to intercept communications of other countries. Spies can also track the movements and locations of troops and carry out sabotage.
There is a feature called the Daily European which will be used to facilitate our roleplay, or you can use this thread. The DE is more streamlined in the game.
The game has a daily newspaper which has generated articles in it about events in the world (including casualties on each side of current wars) as well as articles written by other players. Such articles can also be written anonymously. The newspaper also shows the current game rankings in certain attributes. In a roleplay, game players can make an article about ongoing fictitious events in their country depending on the roleplay type.
Image uploading only for premium members available,
These are one of the things that make up roleplaying nature of the game, and are enjoyable to read. This is essential, because if you do not craft an image for your country, many will be less likely to cooperate with you, and are more likely to be hostile to you ingame.
Here are the maps. Note that I am aiming for Map 3 - "The Great War" due to its large size (first image in OP) and its 31 player capacity. So if we can gather 31 people who are willing to play Supremacy 1914, we will begin. If not possible, the next choice is Map 1.
Map 1 - Europe 1914 (10 players): The standard scenario: 10 evenly balanced nations with slightly different resource allocations grant a fair and interesting start for all players. Normal provinces all have the same resource production and no nation has a preset advantage.
Map 2 - Europe 1910 historic (8 players): Map with the historically correct borders of 1910. Nations differ in size and population which is the key for a province’s production. This map is especially well suited for scenario team mode playing Entente (Britain, France, Italy, Russia) against the Central Powers (German Empire, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria).
Map 3 - The Great War (Contains Eastern North America, North Africa and a part of the Middle east) (31 players): A large map with parts of North America, Africa, and Asia bordering the focal point of Europe. Nations are evenly balanced in production, strength, and resources. The key to survival and victory are strong alliances and logistical superiority in managing long supply lines.
Map 4 - Battle for Western Europe (4 players): It contains 4 major countries; France, Germany, Austria and Great Britain, designed for fast-paced 2v2 games.
Map 5 - Southeast Asia (15 players): An East Asian map with 15 evenly balanced nations, and a large proportion of islands.
Map 6 - South America 1914 (10 players): A balanced map purely of the South American continent, where land warfare dominates.
Map 7 - Middle East 1914 (30 players): This map contains all of North Africa, the Middle East, and European countries bordering on the Mediterranean Sea. Nations are evenly balanced in production, strength, and resources. The key to victory is diplomacy and clever resource management in a part of the world where some resources are abundant and others are very scarce.
Map 8 - USA vs Mexico (2 players): A map, centred about the Gulf of Mexico, with the Southern United States and Mexico as the primary countries.
Below is a photo of a match I played back in 2010 with people I had already known while I played as Turkey. (I did not start with any geographic Ottoman land other than Turkey, though histrionically it was the Empire).
Below I am about to briefly describe how the game went to give a general, simplified overview.

The screenshot was taken by Spain, a hostile entity so you cannot see my movements or my garrisons. He can see Italy's because they are allies. The map was the 1914 Europe with up to 10 players, #1 on the list. I was brown - Turkey. Out of the 10 original players, the only nations that were left at the time of this screenshot near the end, was me (Turkey/Ottoman Empire), Italy, Spain and the UK being all the way at the top about to be absorbed by Spain.
This map is 5 years old, and the game has improved significantly graphic-wise:

I had started with just Turkey, slowly moving my way up to Greece and then acquiring a portion of the Balkans. Shortly after, I suffered a severe resource deficit and my production came to a grinding halt. Russia decided to send me emergency supplies creating an alliance between us. However, unbeknownst to him, I had an alliance with Germany. Germany via the use of roleplay acted "threatened" by Russia advances into the Balkans and saw it fit for war. Of course, this was a terrible excuse to attack Russia but for role-playing sake it was typical World War I propaganda. Offering me a portion of Russia he asked if I would align, I did.
I then amassed artillery cannons and railguns at the Russian border in what I described as a "deterrent measure" which was instead meant to prepare for an invasion. As Germany did the same to Russia, Russia asked why an ally like myself would amass at the Russian border. I reassured Russia it was merely a defensive measure and I would not wage war on an ally. One day later, I launched the invasion of Russia.
It was a major success. This went on until it was only (Blue) Spain, (Yellow) Italy and (Brown) Ottoman Empire left. The two provincial reddish-orange territory at the very top is what remained of the UK. If you notice, I had an upside triangle inside central Italy, that is a railgun I placed while professing to defend Italy from invasion. In reality, it was a trojan horse to kickstart my invasion. You can see in the bottom left territory in Africa, I had three whole garrisons (which carry as much troops as you allocate) starting with Italy's Africa territory. Next to it was my battleship about to make contact with Spain's, Italy's ally.
I mention this to give a brief detail of how the game is played with less amount of people. Of course this does not include spies, sabotage, diplomacy, trade, morale and many other things that make this game fun. As I said, the average game takes several months. Moving from Cyrpus to the eastern seaboard of the US (as depicted in the first image in this thread) will take minimum two weeks in real life.
If you are willing to play the game for a month and a half, write some articles in the Daily European (to help spice up the roleplay, you don't have to be dedicated) then please post below. I am aiming for 31 players so we can play the Great War, which includes Eastern North America, North Africa and a part of the Middle east. Nation selection is manual first come first served following server launch.
The setting of the game is right before World War I breaks out. Tensions are at all an all-time high, alliances are being put to the test. Who will dominate the world, is up to you.
