Cortex Command V.1: I spent way too much time on an OP edition.

The story so far:
At the end of a religious war within mankind, humans were able to extract and sustain their brain artificially, and able to remotely control bodies of clones, robots, spacecraft and more. This created feasible space travel, and with that, many alien civilizations were discovered, and trade was soon established. This lead to increasing demand for resources, namely, gold. You now command one of these brains on a planet untapped by the intergalactic gold rush, Midas.
The Techs (from the wiki)
[t]http://devlog.datarealms.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/factions1.png[/t]
Coalition: A militarized organization, the Coalition produce a large array of units and weaponry to choose from. They are versatile and powerful, making them a strong ally or a dangerous foe. (Mostly use convential bullet weapons, generic and green.)
Dummy: These robots were originally designed as test subjects for weapons, vehicle safety measures, and other lethal experiments, but an AI controller became sentient and broke off from its manufacturers, starting a new line of robots and weapons to defend itself. (What you'd expect from the name, Dummy robots. Use plasma-looking weapons.)
Ronin: Rag-tag parties of bandits who prey on weak and unsuspecting explorers. Their soldiers use stolen armor and their weapons are all leftovers from a bygone age, but they manage to get the job done. (As descripted, cheap weapons and a wide variety of styles. Real-life weapons used.)
Browncoats: A strong mercenary group who are fearsome when confronted up-close. What they lack in range is made up for in durability, allowing them to close distances while soaking bullets. (Heavily armored and slow units. Comes in light and heavy varieties. Powerful, low capacity weapons. Most of them use fire.)
Techion: An elite faction formed by a few high-tech corporations. They focus on expensive units and exotic weaponry, and have the distinction of being selected by Free Trade to occassionally provide security for TradeStar activities. (High-tech, fairly weak and expensive robots. Good guns if a bit on the expensive side.)
Imperatus: The Imperatus rely on pure brute force and the reliability of their sturdy and easy to produce armored units. They use simple low rate of fire guns and cannons which tirelessly deals out good damage. (Fairly generic robot designs. Decent weapons.)
Wildlife:The critters that inhabit the gold-rich planet you're on, primarily crabs. Unfortunately for them, your fighting and mining is killing them and is laying waste to their planet. Following a mass extinction event, crabs comprise almost all animal life on the planet, while a bulbous kind of plant is the dominant vegetation. (Look sir, free crabs!)
Undead/Half-Baked Clones: Consisting of walking Skeletons and "Zombie" half-baked clones armed with archaic blunderbuss weapons and a dead simple grenade, the Undead are weak, cheap, and meant to be effective only in large numbers. They are some of the only infantry without jetpacks. (Extremely weak but extremely cheap units with extremely unreliable and cheap weapons.)
Vanilla Game Modes
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Fu49yeP.png[/t]
Campaign:Main, continuous mode of the game. Able to pick any tech (including mod techs) at the initial screen, as well as how many sites there will be over the course of the game, how many brains each player starts with and how much gold they start with. Consists of a building/planning phase, where you allocate funds to an attack or fortifications of a base, and a Battle phase, where you attack or defend bunkers with your tech's units.
Skirmish Defense: Build a base, install a garrison and defend it against an onslaught of enemies! (Wave Defense is the same idea, just with waves. Maginot Mission is this but with no build phase.)
Bunker Breach: Get units and assault a bunker filled with enemy units and destroy their brain! (Dummy Assault seems to be this idea, just with its own mission.)
One-Man Army: Survive for a set time limit with only one unit and against hordes of enemies.
And it's still not complete.
This game has so many problems that I cant really recommend it to someone but its soo goood and really needs more recognition
mods are cortex command's lifeblood
Who was the moderator here who was working on it and said it would be different and get updated.
And then it never did

Gran PC has the greens.
I was a young boy when i discovered this. Now im a grown ass man and pay taxes and it still isnt done
I remember being excited about the build the browncoats were added in along with a bunch of new weapons, that had to be about 5 years ago because I was also playing Far Cry 2.
Like - Last update was in July.
I dont get how fucking slow this dude is and the worst part is that he tries to excuse himself as hard as he fucking can.
It's been 7 fucking years since i started playing this game. I was fucking 12 years old and i just couldn't wait until all the features he talked about was gonna be released, now i'm 19 with my apprenticeship almost done and it's literally the same as 7 years ago except with a couple new modes, factions and lua implemented and a squad mode that was sorely overdue.
How does it take this fucking long - You thought starbound was bad this motherfucker takes the cake.
shame is that the game is really fucking good so i can't really hate it.

He's a practising Notch, give him a break... i mean he's trying to get a vacation so leave him be
The slower something is done the more worth it it is.

I know right
i'm pretty sure when they were "working" on that they were really just watching porn
I still play this from time to time. I was actually hoping for a linear, narrative based campaign, rather than the cop-out metagame that was done better by a modder. Speaking of which the mod community for it is close enough to being dead. I started working on a 2142 mod myself but stopped once I realised there'd be like 2 people playing it.
That said, if you're looking for a reason to start playing it again, I can't recommend enough the mods Void Wanderers or Cortex Shock
I think Cortex Shock is outdated though, may only be compatible with an older build
i downloaded http://forums.datarealms.com/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=29688 earlier, you think i should replace the ultramarine and imperial guard rte's with the mod on the workshop?
He's a practising Notch, give him a break... i mean he's trying to get a vacation so leave him be
ironically, Notch actually stole it from Data.
just like Minecraft is a ripoff of Infiniminer
Notch lies and steals his way to the top confirmed
ye minecraft is totally infiniminer
If they wanted to continue progressing this game they wouldn't be spending all of their time and resources on a different game.
Wow this is still going. Crikey. Grabbed a copy on steam for 71p as I had £3 or so in my steam wallet.
Glad they got workshop support. Mods keep this game going. Still can't believe how slow development is though.
