Was in the origin beta branch but pulled due to issues. [t]http://i.imgur.com/FW6DVgt.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/2Sgc29W.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/dRPL7OS.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Z0dJzjp.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/ELyz5Lv.jpg[/t] (Is this the correct section for this?)
This looks a lot like they noticed how sleek GoG's Galaxy client was and took a bit of inspiration. Not that i'm complaining.
Doesn't look half bad. The separated store categories seems a clever idea.
your move valve
I'm not sure what else they can do.
They haven't done a major update to Steam's UI since 2010, there's plenty they can do to the UI. Right now it's store pages and community pages are loaded from a glorified browser wrapper. I've seen a ton of UI mockups done by people.
The best steam UI mockup I've seen so far was Steam3.0, which made steam look much more gog-like and cleaner. Theres been no new videos or updates for the past year or so though so I think the project to actually make it a real client is dead http://rendom.net/steam3/
Yeah steam should really get an update of some kind (not changing to a different shade of blue)
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Steam is fine.
Steam is slow and clunky.
Steam is slow and clunky.
From the strings on the STS from the past year, they are working heavily on automating the support and help system. As for the client, I believe SteamDB found that they are changing the system over to cache based or something like that. Marlamin could probably explain it better
Steam's built in browser could be a lot better but I think the games list itself is fine. As nice as the grids look, I'll stick to the list
Steam's built in browser could be a lot better but I think the games list itself is fine. As nice as the grids look, I'll stick to the list
Built in browser is only bad because its very outdated still.
It'd be nice if I could use plugins with the browser or if I could still install flash for it. Some games are really fussy about alt-tabbing and sometimes there's shit I just can't do in the steam browser.
nothing like trying to open the steam browser to look up info on the game real quick and it either keeps booting you out of the overlay due to loading issues or the overlay spontaneously crashes altogether
Not to mention it has no build in ad-blocker. And since one of the top uses for the overlay is to go to a games Wikia page, and since most Wikia pages love to present you with fullscreen video advertisements, the browser usually times out or crashes as a result
I await the day Steam gets an overhaul so badly.
If steam gets a UI overhaul I hope to god they keep the option to view your games as a list, grid is all fancy nilly, but I prefer the list since it's quicker for me to find what I need, especially since I tend to enjoy installing lots of source mods that most of the time have no preview image for a grid.
