SpaceEngine - a free space simulation program that lets you explore the universe in three dimensions, from planet Earth to the most distant galaxies. Areas of the known universe are represented using actual astronomical data, while regions uncharted by astronomy are generated procedurally. Millions of galaxies, trillions of stars, countless planets - all available for exploration. You can land any planet, moon or asteroid and watch alien landscapes and celestial phenomena. You can even pilot starships and atmospheric shuttles.
Picture of a planet a guy found and rendered in game Pretty fun game, you can download it here, post all the cool shit you find, photos are good. Every single spec of light you see in this game, you can explore, and the specs of light inside those specks of light, usually contain Stars, black holes, planets, etc, you can go to the surface of any one of those, and wait for your computer to render the scene (Takes me 2 minutes). The game is a 1:1 scale of the universe. I'd really like to see this thread come back to life. I just took a random screenshot to have an excuse to post something. [t]http://i.imgur.com/5vQL4wS.jpg[/t]

Man those clouds almost look like rock formations. So it kinda looks like a gigantic planet behind the star.

hold on... is that a tiny man in the distance?
[t]http://oi65.tinypic.com/f0t4s4.jpg[/t] this game is something else.
I love the colors that some of these atmospheres produce. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Dkiv1Tv.jpg[/t]
This game gives me anxiety for some reason. Just looking at certain stars or things outside of galaxies and only seeing nothingness makes me feel weird.
Anybody managed to force 4k on the game? I've been trying this trick but the script does jack shit, then I downloaded this program but whenever I try to set any resolution bigger than my screen the program just default to my native resolution.

I find space and thus playing space engine unnerving as fuck too. The first time I played I accidentally went into a globular cluster and nearly had a heart attack. but I'm also the kind of guy that shut off his computer when I thought I was going to crash into a star in Elite Dangerous [editline]8th December 2015[/editline]
Anybody managed to force 4k on the game? Holy shit, I'm glad someone bumped that thread. I completely forgot about this. I love their soundtracks too, such charming.
Isn't there already a thread for this? [editline]9th December 2015[/editline] Yeah, here is the real megathread.

The times Ive played this and 'lost' the universe by going too fast, I got struck with increasing panic until I had to shut the game down.

Maybe a fresh thread is in order, because that one never held activity.
Maybe a fresh thread is in order, because that one never held activity.
What exactly will a new thread solve, if nobody actually posts any space engine posts?
What exactly will a new thread solve, if nobody actually posts any space engine posts?
Psychological encouragement.
Psychological encouragement.
And essentially a locked thread, and possibly a ban, for not bothering to use the thread already made for a game.
