The squad-based combat seems to have drawn comparisons to Hero Academy, though I've never played it. I'd compare it to Banner Saga in that sense. It's a CCG in that you can buy and open packs of cards and put together a deck composed of faction cards and neutral ones. Cards range from basic, rare, epic, and legendary like you'd expect. It's got a mulligan phase like Hearthstone as well as the ability to mulligan a card once per turn for free. Cards can have a variety of traits like flying, rush (charge), deathwatch (deathrattle), frenzy (also hits nearby enemies similar to Foe Reaper in HS), rebirth, grow (+x/+x per turn), celerity (windfury), and backstab.

They hand out keys regularly. A developer sent me one within 12 or so hours of my post.
Some forewarning: Since it's actually in alpha, it should be known that there are some balance issues, with from what I've noticed in a few games, Abyssian and Magmar are far stronger than the other factions. There isn't really any matchmaking due to the low player count in the testing phase so you may get matched against people 10+ ranks higher. They're aware of that and are planning on opening up testing somewhat soon, with a Summer 2015 release still planned. It was formerly buy to play but in the current market it makes sense that they elected to go the route of Hearthstone.
I'm personally sick of all the pixelart flooding the current gaming market but I'm surprisingly enjoying it.
So this just moved from alpha to beta and they've made a bunch of improvements and added a new faction. It's pretty sleek for something you can whip out in a browser (though they have a client too) and play anytime. A super in-depth tutorial as well.

Game's in open beta now and a bunch of people are flocking to it from Hearthstone because Blizzard's dev team is inept.
Sounds neat, I'll see if I have the time to dive in tomorrow.
Just got into this game and it's solid as shit.
I noticed this thread isn't popular, the game is WORTH trying out tho.
I love hearthstone, and this game honestly does things a lot better. The only problem is not nearly as many people play it, and I'd love to see more people try it.
I'm honestly shocked at how good everything about it is. Art style is AMAZING.
More and more people are coming over from Hearthstone. Steady build.
new patch and rebalance out today, anyone who uses lantern wolves go dig yourself a hole
Sorry for bumping, but the game is going to be released on 27 April. One major change recently added is now you can only draw 1 card a turn, but you start with 5 instead of the usual 3
I kinda like the patch and kinda don't. I'm having a lot of fun with a control-ish Magmar deck with E'Xun and Zurael. The previous draw 2 mechanic made it more unique, but it also made it much more favorable to dump your hand which I didn't like.
I really think they need to add cards that have draw for opening gambit though.
Bit of a necrobump, but it's out on Steam now.
I supported the game on Kickstarter. Great to see a game taking off so well, after the awful Mighty No 9. (which I sadly supported as well)
Downloaded this earlier and played for a few hours. Pretty fun.
Have a screenshot from a match I had with a guy who didn't seem to understand how Deathwatch worked.

He kept killing my Wraithlings with his own 1-health minions, thus making my Shadow Watcher huge. :v:
this game is really fun. really came out of no where for me, but im liking how fast the matches can be
Decided to try this and uh, am I supposed to get a legendary neutral from the first pack I open?
This game needs more attention here.
Atm playing Zir'an Sunforge and got with this home-brewed deck with her to rank 11, was 1 win away from Gold Division but got wrecked by a 800 win Songhai.

Game has one quirk. There are tons of powercreep cards. There is a counter though, namely other powercreep cards. Fights are erratic, but with good thinking you can gain the upper hand with ease, aslong as your decklist is proper, that is.
This game is fuckin awesome. Why is the thread so dead?!

We're all too busy playing. :dog:
This game is ridiculously relaxing. It's also really enjoyable when you're at a disadvantage but manage to skillfully get the upper hand and win.
Edit: Ummmm... what? I just played against Abyssian Host (as Magmar). The asshole just kept instantly deleting really strong minions of mine and spawning a fuckload of little 1/1 minions. I almost beat her but I had no idea she could instantly delete minions, so I lost my trump card to a really dumb move. She also had like 3 of those fucking cards lol
Bit ridiculous really. They were all variations of each other: destroy one of my minions instantly and either spawn 1, 2 or 3 little fucks in it's place.

I have never felt dirtier after a card game than I do now.

For reference, here is what the field looked like at the end of my previous turn.

I'm still bitter that CP nerfed the welcome back quest and "forgot" to put it in the patch notes, and then nerfed the drop rate for legendaries in Shim'Zar and also failed to mention it. I'm just glad I didn't preorder it.
They were super transparent before the full release, now they're releasing more RNG-heavy cards and being opaque about certain changes, which are two of the biggest reasons people are fleeing Hearthstone.

This was their reasoning when confronted: which I'm Okay with. I don't think they delibarately take the community for granted
I am on a ridiculous win-streak.

I finally lost. :frown:
[editline]13th September 2016[/editline]
For reference, I started today having had 2 wins last night. I was rank 19.
Made some adjustments to my Zi'ran deck. Loving arcanysts so much, rank 9 atm.

Also shoutout to Red Synja with her ability to deal with Bloodfire Totems x)
Picked this game up.
Surprisingly having a lot of fun already. I'm maining Abyssian with 2 main decks I switch between, a wraithling spam deck which is hilarious because the board is just constantly chock full of little fuckers, and a shadow creep deck where I just fill the entire field with shadow creep and drop ranged units at the back line.
Just yesterday my opponent dropped 2 heartseekers turn 1, I rush forward, drop an alchemist and ping one and next turn I shadow creep the other one and drop a ranged unit at the back line and my opponent just forfeits on the spot.
Bump for this game being underrated.
I've put 12 hours in now and I'm having a good time. It feels like f2p done right.
They fucked up big-time with the Humble Bundle offer.
Seriously, I feel so cheated. And there are people who feel even more cheated.
For those who don't know: CP offers in association with Humble Bundle free stuff if you activate the newsletter. You get free skins and more importantly 20 orbs, which are worth of 20-30$ of ingame content.

But here's the catch: Every account made after Sept. 15 is NOT eligible to claim this. This means every single player who started playing when it was first released in the browser, or the standalone launcher and even its recent Steam release are not allowed to get those 20$ worth of content for free. Only new players get it. There are people who started playing like Sept. 14 and earlier and they are not eligible to get it.
People argue about how the complaints are invalid since it's "free stuff" and such but seriously, we are talking about a restricted offer with no transparency behind everything. The Steam release gave this game a huge boost in popularity and pretty much every guy and girl who started playing it and maybe even pumped money into it feel kinda cheated because "new" players get 20 orbs simply for free. I haven't played that much but other people say it's pretty much 1 month of playing to get that amount. It's already raining complaints and negative reviews on Steam because of this.
This is such a kick in the balls, since the devs seemed to be doing so much right with the game. People who played like 20-30 hours and played to gain the things for free are now far more behind with the decks and cards than people who created an account after Sept. 15. This also helps smurfs to completely destroy other people with the new cards they get.

Wow that's rough.
I wonder if I registerred late enough. I might even just make a smurf account cause that's more stuff than I have at the moment. My guess is they aren't getting enough players for the game so they need to pull some new people in, but that's pretty rude to your long term players.
[editline]21st September 2016[/editline]
I was able to redeem it happily but that seriously sucks for veterans.
To be honest though, the later game players should most likely already have plenty of cards, a leg up for newbies isn't that bad.

While this is true, it's not the right way. They shouldn't leave out the active and older players like this. Especially releasing it on Steam and then just waiting a few weeks for this kind of thing just to kick the earlier players into the balls. We are talking about 20 orbs here. People even put money previously into the game and now other people simply get some of the best cards for signing up later than others. For free. It just feels kinda shady. I know this is free stuff and I shouldn't complain but it' still fucked.
There are better ways to attract new players.
A different user gave an example with neighbours and free money. You have been living in the neighborhood for a few years, while someone else recently moved in. The new neighbor gets 1000$ for free, while you get 100$. You could be happy with your 100$ but you still feel kinda treated unfairly.
It's only 20 bucks worth.
I didn't really get much good out of the boosters anyway, tbh gauntlet seems like a much better use of my gold.
I say just let it go, if they keep doing it sure bitch but 1 dumb mistake doesn't suddenly ruin the game.
I will avoid it for a while. It might not ruin the game, but it could lead to potential smurfs with this.
I just hope Counterplay gets the negative reactions and at least acknowledge them.
