About the game:
Welcome back to the Citadel, Rangers! Join the over 70,000 Kickstarter backers and interact with the development team to help shape the ending of an already historic post-apocalyptic story. The Wasteland's hellish landscape has been waiting for you to make your mark… or die trying.
Wasteland 2 is the direct sequel to 1988’s Wasteland, the first-ever post-apocalyptic computer RPG and the inspiration behind the Fallout series. Until Wasteland, no other CRPG had ever allowed players to control and command individual party members for tactical purposes or given them the chance to make moral choices that would directly affect the world around them. Wasteland was a pioneer in multi-path problem solving, dripping in choice and consequence and eschewing the typical one-key-per-lock puzzle solving methods of its peers, in favor of putting the power into players’ hands to advance based on their own particular play style.
The Wasteland series impressive and innovative lineage has been preserved at its very core, but modernized for the fans of today with Wasteland 2. Immerse yourself in turn-based tactical combat that will test the very limits of your strategy skills as you fight to survive a desolate world where brute strength alone isn’t enough to save you. Deck out your Ranger squad with the most devastating weaponry this side of the fallout zone and get ready for maximum destruction with the RPG-style character advancement and customization that made the first Wasteland so brutal. Save an ally from certain death or let them perish – the choice is yours, but so are the consequences.
Key Features:
One Size Does Not Fit All: Don't feel like finding the key for a door? Why not try a Rocket Launcher! Basically the same thing... right?

Decision Making... with Consequences: With both short and long term reactivity to the players choices, every decision matters in the outcome of the story.

"Would I fucking be here if I did Angry birds!?"
I love that video :v:
Also, just donated. :)
Looks like £10 or so is a bargain for this. Am considering it an investment for 18-24 months when the game is finally released:)
Omigodomigodomigod!
This might be one of the best things since... Other best things!
Mark Morgan (Fallout 1/2) is doing the soundtrack. <3

I will donate my entire life savings.
Which is only like $100 at this point. :suicide:
What the fuck, $900,000 in 34 days? I'd be shocked of this happened.

Double fine got over 1$mill in 24 hours

Yeah, but that's motherfucking Double Fine and Tim Schafer. Tim could ask for $10 and people would give him $10,000. He's proven his worth over and over. Brian Fargo is cool and Interplay is legendary but inXile has made...what? Hunted: The Demon's Forge and a bunch of iOS games? Not exactly the pedigree you want to see when someone comes asking for almost a million dollars.

It's been up only a few hours really and they're at $140k. They'll make $900k and exceed it easily.

Tim Schafer has had quite a few failures over the past years, and he's been working on kinetic games. Fargo is trying bring back a classic game without the pressure of a publisher.
I like how they put it.

This is probably the last chance for a Wasteland sequel. We have tried to pitch this game multiple times to game publishers, but they’ve balked. They don’t think there’s any interest in a solid, old school type of game. This is our shot at proving them wrong. And more importantly this could help bring back an entire genre of RPGs. The power of the Indie scene continues and we see this as all part of a bigger trend of bringing control back to the developers.
Supporting Wasteland 2 is nothing more radical than pre-ordering a game from your favorite brick-and-mortar store. We believe strongly enough in this project and in your desire to see it become a reality, that we decided to go ahead with this Kickstarter drive to fund it.

We’re going back to the original and building from there. No first person shooter, we’re going top down so you get a tactical feel for the situation. And we’re not ditching the party play to turn it into some hack-and-slash bloodfest. It’s turn based, tactical, with a storyline that will be deeper and broader.

And actually, if you think about it 900k for a team to develop a game for 2 years or so isn't a huge amount at all.
Assuming the owner puts in another 100k and makes it to a million, that's $500k a year for wages, development costs, tools, running costs. That really won't go very far.
I don't have the money to donate. Damn. But it's my birthday in a month, I think I'll donate or something then. Although by then they'll probably have all the funding.
That was also a good video. Brian Fargo seems like a really cool guy.
They will have my wallet in this week.
And they've almost hit $150,000.
This thing is going to be a massive success.
Oh, there we go. 150K.
Almost 151K now
[editline]13th March 2012[/editline]
It hasn't even hit major news sites yet
Would donate but I'm poor at the minute. I really hope they're successful! Remember playing Fallout 1 when I was no age, hope this sees the light of day.
that's an expensive party with the devs
Probably going donate $50, we need more amazing RPGs to come out.
Is it bad that i have never even heard of the original Wasteland, especially considering im probably on the top 100 most knowledgeable people when it comes to retro games in this whole country?
You are not in that top 100 then. What about Fallout 1?
You are not in that top 100 then. What about Fallout 1?
You obviously have no idea how stupid and ignorant us danes are.

Is there only a 100 people in your country that know anything about older games?
It's up to 170K
Is there only a 100 people in your country that know anything about older games?
Yes, that was the point of this whole thing.
I have actually heard about this before, guess i got to refine my ability to write down jokes.
It just hit $215,000
Played Fallout 1 and 2 and never heard of Wasteland for some reason. I will keep an eye on this and probably donate $15 eventually.
I can't fucking wait for this game.
And those rewards are just amazing.
