What is Nosgoth?
Nosgoth is a multiplayer PvP game set in the Legacy of Kain-universe. Developed by Psyonix and published by Square Enix, Nosgoth pits 4 and 4 players against each other, switching between playing the two unique teams, Vampires and Humans with different classes and playstyles.
While the Vampires are melee combatants, they rely more on their mobility and superhuman abilities. The Humans in turn are all ranged, and puts more emphasis on teamwork and the ability to help each other in need.
Is it a sequel to Legacy of Kain: Defiance? Is it part of the Legacy of Kain series?
No. It's a standalone game using the settings from the series as a backdrop. It does, however, reuse assets from the cancelled Dead Sun.
Are there... *gulp* microtransactions?
Yes. But you earn gold through playing the game, and you only need to spend real money on runestones if you want to buy skins and boosters. Everything can be bought with the in-game currency you earn through matches. In addition, you can actually receive runestones during certain circumstances.

Dunno if anyone ever played that Shadowrun game that you could play against pc/xbox players, anyway, this looks a lot like that
Speaking of this game, I just got my closed beta invite. I'll let you know how it is.
I forgot, editing is broken.
Fuck
This looks awesome
Sorry for the bump but it seems to be the only thread about the game, I've been interested in the game recently, already played a bit, wonder if there is any fellow here that does too.
Anyway, I've got 3 codes to get in the closed beta, you can redeem them on their official website :
CABOLA-775-GOFADO-230
PEPODE-725-GAFOBU-006
NAGOME-227-GOCAPU-205

I took the third code, thank you very much. As much as I'm not terribly crazy that its an arena based PvP game, I guess i can't really say much until I actually try it.
Game is pretty cool, but I feel like it'd play so much better if it weren't free to play. I also don't really like how there's no incentive to move around the map as humans. It feels like you just find a good spot to camp and don't move from there unless you all get wiped.
I know we aren't meant to complain about this being the Legacy of Kain game we got instead of Dead Sun... So I won't.
What I WILL do is have a positive outlook and state an opinion that I've stated before. The corporation understands the language of money, in that something that makes a lot of money is highly profitable. With this in mind, we should support this game, since it will show there is still a profitable interest in the Legacy of Kain franchise, and hopefully will convince the corporation to say "considering the profits we made with Nosgoth, it is likely a safe bet that if we make another Legacy of Kain game it will make our company a lot of money".
So basically, if you're gonna play this game and you want to bring back the franchise, it'd be wise to buy what's in the store and contribute towards the big sack of cash that'll convince Squenix to make a proper Legacy of Kain. After all, for all the complexities of the corporation, their Prime Directive is to make all of the monies, a primal drive that can be exploited by savvy groups of collective interest.

With that said, they could just pour resources into more Nosgoth content or another game that isn't a sequel to the main series. At this point, I'm not even sure I want another LoK game but I'd like to remain optimistic.
True that, but we can't let go of our dreams. Most ironic of all is the last gift Nosgoth gives us. Stronger than the usage of asymmetrical multiplayer to spice things up, far greater than the low barrier to entry.

Just got into the beta yesterday and it's pretty fun for what it is. It's a weird complaint but I really hate how there is no dedicated jump button
got 3 invite keys if anyone wanted to try out the game
I wouldn't mind giving the game a shot if you have any keys remaining
I'd definitely like a key. I still own my Legacy of Kain game on PSOne.
-snip give it to someone else who wants it more since I might not be able to play anyway-
I just bought the $20 rank pack. Whatever.
Time to download.

Oh god damn this is amazingly fun.
Played a couple games, going to be done for the night.
First round went swimmingly;

For folks who want to see some more Nosgoth footage with a touch of humor and chemistry, here is Nosgoth with Nerds, a 3 part epic involving wowcrendor, TotalBiscuit, Cry, and Sam "Strippin" of the Polaris network, going through matchmaking and doing things.

A little bit of Nosgoth content, from a man known for high-quality non-content.
I should probably update the OP when I get home. Completely forgot this thread after getting a one month ban
Best thing about this game: Being vampirebatbirdman and kidnapping people.
It's like an aerial Jockey!
Sentinel's a hard class, but satisfying to play with. Like playing as a Pterodactyl.
The swooping sound will make any Human player piss themselves
At least, it does for me.
So yeah, pretty fun actually. Ended up in a game where the enemy team was getting their ass kicked until they decided to just go tyrant and spam their moves as fast as they could at us. So we did the same thing to them from the start of the next round and kicked their ass again.
And yeah, as the vampire hunters at the very least you absolutely must stick together, but getting too packed up means any attack that hits an area will destroy you. Even when you have to flee or dodge, you have to keep together.
I love asymmetric play games.
First F2P game I've been excited about since Tribes.

Have a single Beta code on me. It would have been three, but I am pretty sure my two brothers who don't live with me would like to give this a shot. Spoilered to try and hinder possible code seeking bots. If you take it, please post here to save anyone else who'd want it the trouble.
PEXULE-201-COGEBO-006
What's the difference between a normal code you redeem on their website and a steam code?
More exactly, playing their beta on steam gets me to create a square enix account or can I skip the whole process?
You have to sign up on their website and make a square enix account.
Ok, I am genuinely surprised just how much fun I am having with this. It's actually quite enjoyable. Still needs a lot more content overall, but its definitely one I'm going to keep playing over time.
Except the Deceiver, he needs to be removed until properly balanced so as to not be a one man army.
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
