This thread shall be used to discuss one of the best and oldest strategic building series ever.
The games so far in the series are:

In my opinion, the last game was a letdown, I dont like the futuristic setting and I think they over semplified it.
The best games in the series are Anno 1602 and Anno 1503, probably because those are the first games I played when I was still a child, and they are stuck in my mind being two awesome games.
Here is a link to the soundtrack of Anno 1602, it's one of the best game osts ever in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8B07A4B59C60AEB4&feature=plcp
Hey why do all the numbers in the titles of each game add up to 9?
Bought 2070 the other day, about to play it now and i have no idea what to expect. Was hoping this thread would give insight but hey, atleast i know what the boxart looks like :D

It's a very nice game, with loads of neat things like controlling the air pollution and energy resources.
Sadly I dont like games set in the future, so I prefer the older ones.
And I'm gonna add some info to the OP later on.

Conspiracy Theory Incoming.
Hey why do all the numbers in the titles of each game add up to 9?
Holy shit.
Anyway, I remember playing 1503.. though not that well. I do remember enjoying it very much.
How's 2070?
Sadly I dont like games set in the future, so I prefer the older ones
Whoa, seriously?
Don't like futuristic games?

Oh wait, you meant in each game, not total. Oops

Anyway, I was never aware it was a series. Then again I'm awful at strat games :v
We should totally get an FP game going one day. Problem is everyone has to be there whenever we resume, which is pretty hard with several players.
I fucking hate how they took 1404 off of steam. Yet the DLC is still there.
I love these games, its such a shame they got taken off steam the day I decided to buy 1404 :C
I really liked the second one. Although I never managed to get a decent city in the end.
I always lacked steady ressources and my city failed at the end. Awesome game nevertheless.
I can still buy them on steam... Maybe they took it off just in America?
Also if you take 2070 minus 1404 you get 666 :tinfoil:
Anyway, Im hoping 2070 will go on sale, even though i know it probably wont.
I loved 1404. Not sure if I should get 2070 - no one seems to like it :(

It's just a thing they do in the Anno series

I want 2070 but I detest Ubisoft
Torn between not playing and supporting crap DRM practices
Quick question:
Anno 1701 or Anno 1404?
Rate agree for 1701, disagree for 1404.
2070 looks cool but I'm not paying $50 for it.
Anno is a hit or miss series
Either you spend 50+ hours on it or you give up after 1
I still have 1602 A.D.. In fact, I can see the case from where I'm sitting. I bet it doesn't even run on Windows 7.

Its a hit for me.
If you want to get 2070 but not support ubisoft. Just get it off of a keysite. ultimatum games has it for like 25 dollars.
The only thing that happens if you don't buy 2070 because of Ubisoft is that there won't be any more Anno games. Go boycott something like Assasin's Creed that sells a lot and is sure to get sequels, not Anno.

Why did they take it off anyways? I really want to actually buy it, but it's not available on Steam, it's nowhere to be found in stores... Is it even purchaseable anywhere?
I played anno 1701 ages ago but it felt very dry for some reason. then i played anno 1404 and i loved it. I think whoever did 1404 and 2070 did good work.
I want to punch whoever took 1404 off Steam in the dick.
Do you guys think anno 2070 will be on sale? I really want to get it.
According to a SPUF entry, Anno 1404's Steam version screwed up badly last year when a patch removed the DRM. Maybe that is why it isn't sold on Steam?
