2D Era
Grand Theft Auto
Release: October 1997
The first game of the series to hit the shelves for the Playstation 1, PC and Gameboy Advance. It's about as basic as you can get, but still a classic and it came with two mission packs.
GTA (and GTA2) is available for free download on Rockstar's official website, as well as Steam (but you have to buy it as part of a collection there).
Mission Packs
Release: April 29 1999 [GTA: London 1969]
June 1 1999 [GTA: London 1961]
These two mission packs were the first expansions for Grand Theft Auto, and set about expanding the core gameplay and changing the main locale to London instead of the United States.
Grand Theft Auto 2
Release: September 30, 1999
For the PC, PS1, Dreamcast and Gameboy Advance. It offered an improved version of the original GTA and allowed you to do work for seperate gangs.

3D Era
Grand Theft Auto 3

Release: October 22, 2001
Hailed the granddaddy of all open world 3D games, GTA3 was released for the PS2, Xbox and PC. The silent protagonist (revealed in later games to be Claude) is betrayed by his girlfriend in a robbery, and you set out to gain revenge on her through moving up in the crime ladder. It set the precedent for all the future 3D GTA games and was very amazing and controversial for its time, as well as establishing Liberty City (the first arguably well known city in the GTA series).
It was rereleased later for the iOS and Android phones on its anniversary, as well as being available on the Playstation Network.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Release: October 29, 2002
Vice City was released for the PS2, PC and Xbox. It is set in the fictional Florida settlement of Vice City, and takes a lot of inspiration and flair from the 80s, as well as loosely following the Scarface theme for the story. Features a lot of rad music, colourful scenary and motherfucking helicopters, as well as introducing the first talking protagonist Tommy Vercetti.
It was rereleased later for the iOS and Android on its anniversary, and is also available on the PSN.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Release: October 26, 2004
Released on for the PS2, PC and Xbox, it is the largest GTA game to date in the 3D Era. It features a whole state, San Andreas, instead of just one city, with three cities loosely based off Los Angeles (Los Santos) and San Francisco (San Fierro) of California, and Las Vegas (Las Venturas) of Nevada. It is seen to be the most popular GTA game still today, as it bought a lot of new features to the table. The usefulness of these features (the rpg style elements primarily) is hotly debated amongst many fans. Also introduced Carl 'CJ' Johnson, make of him what you will.
You can also swim in this one, finally.
It is available on PSN and XBLM.
Grand Theft Auto: Advance
Release: October 25, 2004
Developed by an independant studio (Digital Eclipse) for the Game Boy Advance. Features a new main character called Mike who does criminal work in Liberty City. Considered by some to be the weakest link in the series.
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

Release: October 24, 2005
For the PSP (and a year later on the PS2), this is a spinoff to GTA3 (set three years before) putting players in the shoes of capo Toni Cipriani, who rises through the Leone ranks in Liberty City and earns the trust of his boss Salvatore Leone.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

Release: October 31, 2006
Also for the PSP (and again ported to the PS2 only), this is the earliest canon GTA game in the 3D era and is set two years before Vice City, showing how dishonourably discharged army private Victor Vance rises through the criminal underworld in Vice City just to survive (and dealing with Lance.. fucking Lance). Features a lot of pastel coloured suits, more 80s music and the return of swimming.

HD Era
Grand Theft Auto IV

Release: April 29, 2008
The most detailed game ever released in the series, Grand Theft Auto IV hit the shelves for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. It details the journey of Niko Bellic, an immigrant fresh off the boat from Europe inspired to start a new life after reading his cousin's many letters about how awesome America is. However, once he gets there he finds out that Roman was just telling bullshit stories and is forced to work his way through the shady dealings of Liberty City to secure some money and deal with his past at the same time.
This is set in a completely new universe (with references to the 3D era but no reappearances of the old characters) and features some really amazing physics and graphics, and keeps the overall classic GTA gameplay. Just be weary of getting persistent phone calls from all your friends.
There's also the PC port, notorious in its ability to work in technologically impossible ways on every machine as well as being bundled with GFWL, but as of a few patches, GFWL has been removed completely and the game optimised.
Episodic Content

Release: 17 Feburary 2009 [TLAD]
29 October 2009 [TBOGT]
The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony were released as two-parters to GTA4, part of a deal with Microsoft Games for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. It fixed up a lot of the criticisms with GTA4 and interweaved the three protagonists stories together (Niko Bellic, Johnny Klebitz and Luis Lopez) into an interesting and satisfying experience, also offering new weapons, cars and a whole bunch of stuff to do.
TLAD also requires you to be confident of your sexuality.
You can buy GTA4 + TLAD and BOGT in a complete bundle called 'Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City' in retail or on Steam.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars

Release: 17 March 2009
Released for the Nintendo DS, and a few months later for the PSP and iOS, it is the second game (not counting the episodic content) to be released in the HD era and follows the story of Huang Lee through Liberty City. It received impressive reviews for a handheld game.
Grand Theft Auto V
http://i.imgur.com/Rluz8MO.jpg
Release: September 17th 2013 (PS3 and 360)
November 18th 2014 (PS4 and Xbox One)
April 13th and 15th 2015 (PC)
The fifteenth game in Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series tells the stories of three playable protagonists; Michael, a former robber and troubled family man who is now living the high life in Los Santos and unsatisfied with his life, Franklin, a member of Grove Street who is looking to get out of the hood and earn himself more cash than all the awful gang related errands he runs and Trevor, Michael's former partner-in-crime, living in Blaine County way out in the sticks. The stories of the three characters intertwine frequently and outside of missions the player can freely switch between them.
Hum, my thread was posted earlier, you should not have done another one

I dont see any of the vehicles seen in the more recent screenshot being related to any of the existing ones, p'sure they're new.
Also the blue one reminds me a lot of the comet in GTA:VC

I can't help but expect them to not be that good on release and wont be anything special, IGG only had 2 good cars because they decided to make 2 new fastest cars in the game.
IDs for modkits are linked to carcols.meta. Basically, you have to create the modkit, define all mods that will be available for purchase, then give it a unique ID. Rockstar cars currently use IDs 1 through 167 as far as I'm aware, so to make sure DLC won't use the same ID and break it in future, I'd recommend making it a really high number like 500.
I've made a mockup of a working carcols.meta and carvariations.meta for your car that would allow for performance tuning, wheel swaps and the usual non-visual stuff.
Carcols: http://pastebin.com/ASC3ptP0
Carvariations: http://pastebin.com/qrTP3Kyt
You can see where they'd reference each other.
The "1 1 1 1" section (the vertical one) in carvariations is the colour the car is allowed to spawn in. Since there's only one section and I've set all of them to 1, the car would only spawn in black for example.
So I can't get this to work, the car will accept modkits that are already in the game but I can't seem to make new ones. I'm thinking its because my carcols.meta is not being loaded but i checked the content.xml and it's listed
Edit: Never mind I fixed it, I just suck at reading my own scripts.
I can't help but expect them to not be that good on release and wont be anything special, IGG only had 2 good cars because they decided to make 2 new fastest cars in the game.
I'd love a classics vehicle pack, that shoots back to the older games's cars. the VC and SA design of the Cheetah were my favorites.
I feel like I could use the Vindicator more is KERS was actually viable tbh
[editline]27th August 2015[/editline]
It's a unique bike and its stats sorta ruin it, KERS could have made it good but we all know KERS is dicks
Like I said in the other thread because there's apperently 2 threads:
At this point, I think what they could add is more world-spaces if single player DLCs ever came and added them. It'd be pretty cool if they were able to add San Fierro or Los Venturas onto the map, adding new heists/properties for us to buy.
because this thread = true thread because shotz made it
Like I said in the other thread because there's apperently 2 threads:

I doubt they'll add more locations like SF and LV outside them being their own locations with their own game.
I doubt they'll add more locations like SF and LV outside them being their own locations with their own game.
I still at least want to see 1 story DLC like they promised us way back when before they drop support for GTAV and move onto another game like a new Red Dead or Bully.

I don't even expect them to ever release the SP dlc anymore tbh
because this thread = true thread because shotz made it
I think it should come down to who gets the best functioning OP and fastest, with no missing pictures and/or best formatting etc. :v:
Anyways, GTA FOUR! Last thread died too quickly..
Which thread are we using? I'm confused
This one I think, it has more posts.
Also I'm almost done with the Voodoo.
[t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/695032538995538915/2DAC7429D450FA3A6413EAD89B1580961470479A/[/t]
Currently the new Voodoo has a higher ride height as well as uses the slamvan for engine sounds.
It also supports suspension so you can go from stock ride height:

To a slammed appearance much like the original Voodoo.

Now all I need to do is set up as an independent DLC that people can just through into the mod folder for easy installation.

Also I feel this needs reposting because I absolutely adore this vid
Currently the new Voodoo has a higher ride height

This was an excellent idea. IIRC this is how high the suspension is on GTAIV's version, and I chalked the beater's lower stance up to the suspension being very, very old and sagging badly.
Clean Voodoo pics
I forgot how great the Voodoo looked.
jesus christ I wish a clean version was in GTA Online, I'd cruise around in it 24/7
According to some of the leaks posted right after IGG, the next update might just have a clean Voodoo. That is, of course, if those leaks aren't bullshit.

Clean Voodoo as well as lowrider kits for it, the Tornado, Peyote, Manana, Virgo and Chino.
As well as "stunt school", whatever that means.

My guess for stunt school is either car/bike stunting or maybe bringing back low-rider hydraulic comps like in San Andreas
Either that or it's meant to teach you cool tricks you can do with hydraulics, like using them to hop barriers or duck under semis for clever escapes
If we are getting a low-rider themed update, we should just have them replace all songs in the game with this.
According to some of the leaks posted right after IGG, the next update might just have a clean Voodoo. That is, of course, if those leaks aren't bullshit.
Even if the leaks are true, this is more of a learning experience than anything else. I mean yeah I want to make a clean voodoo, but by doing this I learned how to use zmodeler 3, I have a decent idea how to make stand alone dlc, and I know how to make cars that are added to the game and do not replace existing cars.
So if they do have the voodoo, oh well! Plenty of other cars to screw around with.
