Hello Facepunchers! :) I would like to present you a SP/MP/Coop game that a friend and myself are developing which is called: I would describe the game as a mix of "Cannon Fodder" and the "Battlefield" series with a touch of "Company of Heroes". The game is a part of the alphafunding project on Desura and is also applying for a release on Steam through Steam Greenlight (we are stucked at around rank 80 for a while, so any vote would help a lot, thanks ;) ). The game is around 90% done and fully playable. There has been a thread about the game on Facepunch but it is pretty old (early alpha). What is RUNNING WITH RIFLES? “Keep your head down SOLDIER – you’ll need it!” Pick up your rifle and join the Green or Grey army in their mission to send the enemy home in a box! RWR is an open world, top-down, tactical shooter for single player and multiplayer online, that puts you right in the middle of chaos in towns, trenches and forests turned into ruthless battlefields, controlling just one soldier in an army of several hundreds. In a war where men die like flies and endless streams of reinforcements run to fill the void, it takes tactics and marksmanship to capture territories effectively. The open world nature of the game enables you to use a multitude of approaches to help the front line move – it’s up to you to shape your role. Experience the complete arc starting as a private hardening into a high ranking officer with a squad under command, arming yourself with a variety of weapons and vehicles on your way to glory! Key features, so far: [*]24/7 servers in Europe and USA supporting 40+ players [*]Linux port [*]6x1 km^2 maps with total of 52 bases [*]hundreds of simultaneous AI soldiers [*]open world: it’s up to you how you play, the war goes on without you [*]not your usual "I'm the hero"-shooter: one bullet kills more often than not [*]use cover, crouch and prone, move with others to increase your odds to stay alive [*]day/night cycle which affects the vision and behaviour of the AI. [*]emergent AI that tries hard: they too use cover and rooftops, attempt outflanking [*]automatically AI number compensation depending on how many humans are playing [*]gain experience to get promotions to lead your own squad, unlock abilities [*]variety of modern weapons (17 in total so far) [*]different types of grenades, bazookas, mortar strikes, medikits, shields, vests... [*]vehicles: jeeps, boats, communication trucks and armored trucks which can be used as mobile spawn point, APC’s, tanks... [*]vehicle driving and navigation AI either autonomously or after they receive a special order [*]paratroopers reinforcement [*]invasion mode (pure coop mode) with RPG elements, mini-bosses, etc. and much higher difficulty [*]Multiple factions on the battlefield [*]stats tracking and achievement system Features in the development backlog: [*]Mac port [*]pure coop or singleplayer campaign with RPG elements (loot, mini-boss, etc) [*]new outfits [*]new weapons [*]new maps [*]new vehicles (humwee with mounted MG, engineer truck, patrol boats, helicopters (?)...) [*]new grenade types [*]several new radio calls (helicopter reinforcement, artillery strikes, supply-drops) [*]optimize online implementation to support even more players [*]even more modding possibilities screenshots: Recent coop stealth Trailer: 90 minutes uncut multiplayer gameplay Links: Official website RWR on Steam Greenlight RWR on Facebook RWR tutorial Demo download Demo download mirror
Oh I remember this. I bought it a year ago and I didn't keep track of the new things you added. I had a lot of fun with the multiplayer, but it was hard to get a good game going; though it was a year ago so maybe it's more popular now and there are more multiplayer games to play. Edit: Looks like you have 24/7 servers, can't wait to update my version and get back into this.
I want this so bad but I can't use paypal, only because I can't add some cash to it.
oh my god I remember this, I had so much fun with it when you first posted it here. I'm buying this right after my exams are over.
This thread keeps popping up and submerging and every time it does I get the urge to play this game again. It's fucking amazing. Good work, Jack and pal.
Awesome. I bought this a while ago. Been keeping track of your progress. The game is coming along nicely. Time to try out the latest beta.

Multiplayer is very funny, unfortunately the online community isn't huge (yet). When we schedule a session, we usually have around 20-30 players playing at the same time on a single server, that's pretty intense and challenging.
Glad to see a btr like APCS got added. If the model isn't final, maybe you guys should change it to a BRDM, to make it smaller and fit the infamy combat a tad more.
I love the modding community that this game has, someone even created a Warhammer 40k mod: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/z5uaZ7U.png[/img_thumb] Adds some pretty neat weapons, 2 different factions with unique names, and it even changed up some of the vehicles. Wow, this has come a long way. I played the hell out of this when it was first released.
One thing that still confuses me is what time period this game is set in. Of course it doesn't really need one but some guns make me think cold war era some are more modern. While the factions make me think of World War 2 due to the names each faction's soldiers have. The tank looks like a tiger tank while the APC looks like something more modern. The jeep is clearly inspired by the WW2 US Jeep. You can see why I am a bit confused. I mean, I personally love the weapon variety and vehicle variety but it would've made more sense to have some sort of focus on an era.
holy fuck i forget about this game, i think i might buy it now, it looks pretty good
Oh boy i remember this game. I've one of the first account on the forum.

For the willy jeep well it's indeed a bit older vehicle (last has been produced 1968) but pssst! :p We just wanted to make a fast and light 4 places vehicle with no armor at all. A Humwee would suit better but wouldn't fit too well into the balancing. About the tank it doesn't look like a WW2 tank but rather a modern tank, actually I just freely modelled it, I had the Tank AMX-Leclerc in mind and the M1A1 and kinda mixed them together. The driving characteristics are similar to a WW2 tank though hehe but well it's about balancing as well. I hope this is just confusing for a bit rather than hurting your gameplay experience.
I like the mixed eras, adds a little charm.
Wow it has changed a lot since last time. Looks freaking awesome.

I love the art style.
Should have made the armies Green and Tan.
I hope this is just confusing for a bit rather than hurting your gameplay experience.
I still enjoy the game a lot and the tank that I was talking about still looks great.
great game, purely insane hectic fun, love to pick it up every now and then when im bored
This actually looks fun as hell. I am monitoring this thread.
I remember playing this when it was just infantry. Fantastic work as always guys.
yeah, this looks great
Awesome. Purchased and played a single player game. I loved the level design, loved the art style, loved the game mechanics, loved the match setup options, loved the pace, loved the learning curve. The game is great. It's fast paced enough that even though i was dying often early on, I could respawn fast and run to the action before I was even close to getting frustrated. If I had to think of a complaint, which is really scraping the bottom of the barrel, it'd have to be that i wish there was a louder "empty mag" sound. Can't wait to do some co-op.
Looks awesome compared to the last version I played which was probably more than a year ago now. Do want.
I purchased this a few months ago, and I was sorely disappointed when the MP server only had 1 other person. Invasion mode etc hadn't been implemented properly, I'll be sure to reinstall on Desura and give it another shot. I thought it had some pretty immense potential, hence my purchase - I hope I'm right :)
I'll have to get some money so I can buy this, remember playing the demo before and it was good fun, but I don't think vehicles/multiplayer was in then.
And then another game comes out called, Running With Scissors. :v:
This looks pretty neat, I assume that your soldier's main weapon has unlimited reloads? Also riot shields? Fuck yeah that's awesome
