What is Jalopy?
Navigate miles and miles of tyre changing, fuel burning, carburettor busting, mud clattering terrain, through night and day, rain and shine. Adapt to whatever the procedurally generated world of Jalopy can throw at you.
Upgrade, maintain and care for your Laika 601 Deluxe motor vehicle. Keep close attention to everything from the state of your tyres, the condition of your engine and even the space in your trunk. Repair each aspect of your scrappy little car and install unique upgrades to deal with the changing world. Everything from cargo weight to the condition of your carburettor will determine how your car performs on the open road.
And here's your car - the Laika 601 Deluxe:

In order to maintain it, you will need to change or upgrade it's parts.
Here's what you'll need:

Well, the model is here only for the trailer. In the actual game, you dont have a playermodel.
So, how is it?
So, how is it?
Well, it was released less than an hour ago and I need to get home first, so I'll do an update once I'm done with work.
I wish demos were still a thing. Looks like fun.
I'm keen on trying it but 10 euro seems a bit much
From what I've played it's pretty fun. It's a bit rough on the edges for sure, but if development keeps up it'll be amazing.
I don't normally buy early access games but count me in for a Trabi simulator. I'll mess around with it on my lunch break.
Fuck it ill try it, if it really sucks I can always refund it.
Its literally aTrabbi simulator, you are losing nothing.
Shit yeah, a road trip / car-mechanic game?
Count a professionally trained car mechanic and veteran of the 2009 Roof of the World charity rally to Tajikistan in! :excited:

Only this time, you go from Germany to Turkey in glorious Trabant 601. So yeah, a massive win.
This game seems pretty neat. I'm having some trouble though. When it's night-time, all the lights in gas stations etc are pink. And when I stop at a gas station, my uncle gets out and then won't get back in. He just does a little jig and refuses to enter the car.
e; Oh, developer acknowledged it like 30 minutes ago and is going to fix it.

That was actually part of the route.
(for those less versed in eastern European geography, I'll include the countries in the following list)
It was:
Munich(Germany), Vienna(Austria), Budapest(Hungary), Bucharest(Romania),
from there along the Black Sea:
Varna, Burgas (Bulgaria), Istanbul, Samsun, Trabzon (Turkey), Tbilisi(Georgia), Baky(Azerbaijan),
took the ferry across the Caspian Sea from there, on to:
Turkmenbashi, Ashgabat, Turkmenabat(Turkmenistan), Buchara, Samarkand(Uzbekistan), and finally into Tajikistan, via Dushanbe to our goal, Qurghonteppa.
Well I refunded it, the car part is quite fun, the graphical style is too. But the core game is just, boring. (The driving feels fixed and uninteresting)

It's a [del]Trabi[/del] Laika with no power steering, not a supercar. :v: I'm sure it will improve, the priority seems to be getting the interaction down for now.

It's not the performance of the car that matters, it's about how fun it is to drive. Something you need to achieve with physics.

Whelp, this game suddenly turned into an accurate depiction of russian public roads. Also grandpa doesnt give a fuck.
Game is somewhat buggy right now, the catalogs don't work for me. I think it'll be pretty great with regular updates, which it should get since the developer posts consistent weekly logs of what he worked on with exact times.
This is a great idea for a game so I really hope it gets the support it deserves.

Real easy to run out of money though.
The dev(s?) are very responsive and active on the Steam forum for the game.
I got lost on foot at night and fell off the map somehow. Other than that it has been great. I wish the car handled less like a golf cart, especially on dirt roads

no thanks i'll sleep in the car
Is this the game where you can bring a 6 pack with you
You're thinking of My Summer Car, a game set in Finland.

To maintain your budget keep an eye out for boxes on the road. Open them, grab everything from them, shove it into your Laika and then sell it in some shop.

In EU, It kind of is a thing. You can get a refund for whatever reason, you can just say you didnt like the game and steam will refund the money to your bank account. As long as youve played less than 2 hours and its been less than 2 weeks since the purchase.

Don't you need a crowbar to open them or is that just specific boxes. I could never get any open that I found.
To open the cardboard boxes you have to click and hold on the tape. To open the wood boxes with padlocks you need a crowbar, which you can get in the Outershop, but it seems to appear only rarely.
Not a fan of the art style personally, love the idea of this game tho.
