We (Team Porpoise) took a 2 month break from developing Observer to work on a prototype for something that might actually turn out to be profitable in the long run.
As making a game is a loooong commitment, we decided to release the prototype to gauge public interest in a project like this.
This is a prototype. Expect bugs.
About the game
Run Far is a first person parkour game with an emphasis on movement and a laid back atmosphere.
The gameplay in Run Far emphasises freedom of movement and verticality.
Run Far is heavily influenced by games like Jet Set Radio and the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series.
Other influences include the works of Shinichirō Watanabe and Isaac Asimov.

Looks nice, though I personally think increasing the speed by 10-15% would make it a lot more fluid a la JSR
Thanks! That's exactly the kind of feedback we need.
So Mirror's Edge is not one of your inspirations?
It's an inspiration sure, but not a very major one. We're actually taking more inspiration from Titanfall's parkour mechanics than the ones in Mirror's Edge.
Is the thing behind the dumpster intended to be a hole into the city outside the map?
Also, I don't usually play or like parkour games (I think someone forced me to play Mirror's Edge once, and that's the grand total of my experience) due to my incredibly short attention span, terrible memory, and general clumsiness, but I had a bit of fun with it. Only things that bothered me were how slow you walk, the lack of an FOV slider, bumping into the invisible walls around the map, and those caution signs not actually being physics objects, all of which are rather petty and/or probably due to it being a prototype.
Also I think being able to run straight up walls a teensy bit would be nice, but as previously mentioned I'm not really experienced with parkour games, so I don't know.
edit: am totally gonna be watching this tho
I'd think it'd be better to have the default state be running and have a separate button for walking. Point of the game is to go fast and do parkour things; I shouldn't need to cramp my pinkie finger holding shift down the entire time. Tuning the grab/wallrun mechanics to be tailored more toward where your mouse is would be nicer as well. It's kind of awkward jumping off from a wall at the exact same angle every time, no matter where I'm looking. It's also kinda weird to be almost completely immune to gravity; I'm able to wallrun upwards after falling down any large distance.

Thanks a lot! Definitely going to fix and add a lot of the stuff you brought up. Not at all sure of what you mean by the city map thing though.

Good thing you brought up the "always run"-thing. It's a simple fix, but makes the game a lot more tolerable. Also going to look into the jump-to-where-you're-looking thing.
The plan for the final game is to have the player start without some of the abilities seen in the prototype, including the "wallrun gravity immunity" and not taking any damage after high falls. As the player earns money by doing various tasks, they can use the dosh to buy upgrades and such.

I mean I could escape the map and get out to all those white skyscrapers. I did it by just walking into the wall behind the garbage bin (the one next to that red robot arm), but I haven't been able to do it a second time so I'm not sure exactly what happened.

Huh, that's a new one. Can't recreate it myself either. One-time fluke maybe?
The game doesn't seem to work for me.

How? Are there any error messages?

I got it to work by running the game directly from the rar, but if I ran the one I extracted the folder would freeze and 3 instances of the game would appear in the process tab and that's about it, no error messages.

That's straight up bizarre. I'm gonna look into it when I've got more time. Thanks for pointing it out.
