Underrail is an Old-School, Sprite-Based, Isometric, Post-Apocalyptic RPG that was developed by a one-man team.
The game has been released as of December 18, 2015.

The game is set in a distant future when the life on the Earth's surface has long since been made impossible, the remnants of humanity
now dwell in the Underrail, a vast system of metro station-states that, it seems, are the last bastions of a fading race.

-Great character customization possibilities through stats, skills, feats, items and more that allows for many different play-styles;
-Tactical turn based combat that utilizes weapons, energy shields, grenades, psi abilities and more;
-Vast underground world to explore: city states, abandoned building complexes, natural caverns, secret areas and more;
-Elaborate item crafting system.

First time I make a thread proper in the General Games Discussion sub-forum, so if you have some feedback on how I may improve the OP (can even be typos I made), it would be more than welcome.
Also, bonus wallpapers:

OP could you please add the greenlight page, thanks! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92962826

I was going to add it tomorrow because it's 2 A.M. over here, but since you asked so nicely...
But get this on Steam as an early access game. It would fit perfectly in the new Steam section.

That wouldn't be a bad idea. Hopefully the creator is already thinking about it.
Anyway, added the Greenlight to the OP. I'm gonna work on this thread more in the coming days, but hopefully this is going to be enough for the moment being.
Just a thought, but you might want to have a link to the free earlier alpha version. http://underrail.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=44&Itemid=30
The environmental and UI art is mediocre at best, I'm a bit worried because the stuff looks just a bit too detailed to be placeholders too.
For the work of one person, it's great.
Interesting, but I'm not seeing how it's related to System Shock at all, it looks a lot more like Fallout.

It hasn't been a problem at all for me when I played the game. It actually added to the whole "old-school RPG" vibe in my opinion. Plus, you don't really play for the graphics, it's all about the gameplay. I love the fact that you really need to use everything at your disposal to survive tough encounters. You really feel like every skill is important.
I specced for a bruiser character (constitution for hitpoints and perception for guns) and I still ended up putting a lot of skill points in stealth, hacking and lockpicking because they are so useful. Even though I didn't even put any skillpoints in any psy abilities and my will is 5 (average), I still used the free ice shard psy ability you can get in an early quest, because since psy attacks never miss, it's great to finish-off opponents. Plus, the chill slows the target, so it's great against melee attackers.
The crafting system is super in-depth because most items that you use can be crafted (with the only exception being things like keys and keycards). There is item quality to crafting materials which directly influence level requirement for a specific crafting skill, so there is no crafting level requirement for blueprints (the game's equivalent to a crafting recipe), it all depends on the mat quality. There are also ways to improve an item you're crafting by adding optional crafting mats, but this will increase the crafting level requirement.
Also, min-maxing (the bane of most RPGs) in the game is limited because at creation, you can only lower your base stats (works a lot like the SPECIAL) to a minimum of 3 (max is 10) and at level 1, you can only increase a skill up to a max of 15 (you start with 140 skill, you get 40 per level) and that limit increases by 5 per level (25 at level 2, 30 at level 3) meaning you can't put all your skills every level in guns and destroy everything in sight as soon as you get your first assault rifle. You're forced to spread your skills around, but don't worry. You'll want to anyway.
Sorry about the gushing, but even in Alpha this game is great.
Interesting, but I'm not seeing how it's related to System Shock at all, it looks a lot more like Fallout.
The creator of the game, on his website, wrote that he was inspired by old-school western RPG classics "such as Fallout, Arcanum, Neverwinter Nights and System Shock 2."
How far along is this? Looks fun but I don't want to spend this much money at the minute that isn't going to give me a good amount of gameplay and options.
Looks interesting, how big is the world?
Looks interesting, how big is the world?
So this is what I got from the info that I collected so far: If I remember correctly, the creator said that the game had about 20 hours worth of playtime so far, but that it's only a very small part compared to what the final game will be like. From what I've played the number of locations in the game doesn't matter too much because the enemies are tough enough to prevent you from breezing through each area. I can't say exactly how big the game is because I haven't completed all the content available in the Alpha after 10 hours, but it's big enough so that you really feel like you're exploring and that each new room could mean your death if you're not careful.
At least I can tell you that there is a lot of replayability because of the crafting, character skills and character feats. My next character is going to focus on Psy and Social skills.
From what I understand, the game engine is mostly finished, and the creator is now focusing on adding actual content (maps, characters, quests, items) and balancing the economy.
For example, here's what he added on the 22nd of March:

And here's what he added on the 28th of February:
There's even more stuff on the game's blog.
On an unrelated note, I've actually e-mailed the creator to tell him that I was making this thread, and he expressed his dismay that he couldn't make an account on Facepunch. I suggested that he could try to contact the team to get an account but I don't know if it's going to work.
This looks awesome. I've just downloaded the alpha that JakeAM posted a little further up. It's installed fine, but when I click on New Game it just freezes. Anyone else had this problem?
Nevermind, I've just fixed it. For anyone else having that problem, run in compatability mode for XP (Service pack 3)
Don't forget that what you downloaded is just the demo. A number of improvements have been made to the official retail version since then. The demo is 8 months old.
This awesome, hopefully it's not another terrible Greenlight game. I'll support it.
From what I've played, it isn't. It's really great.
Anyway, I sent an e-mail to the guys asking: "People are wondering how big the map is and how many hours worth of gameplay the alpha contains. What would you say?"
His answer was:
When I do a full playthrough of it before I release a new version, it usually takes me two sessions of about 9-10 hours, though I do stop to fix an occasional bug or tweak something. On the other hand I’m not the most thorough player in the world and I know the mechanics pretty well so I rarely have problems in combat etc.
There was a recent playthrough by a YouTuber that goes by the name LethalFeline (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLc8_TGjGbIHh2VZYpXBCgWULD63QguTQ3). It looks like he took about 11-12 hours to do the whole thing, though he did skip some side content. It’s an earlier version also, the new one has more content.
Cheers,
Dejan

So, there you have it from the man himself.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm roughly 15 hours in, but I'm taking my time, exploring every nook and cranny and stretching the experience a much as possible.
holy shit this game looks fucking amazing
Fallout 2 crashes all the time for me so I can't really enjoy that game. Is this a worthwhile replacement?
I haven't really played Fallout 2, but my friend that bought Underrail at the same time as me and is a Fallout 2 fanatic thinks the game is really awesome, if a bit short at the moment (he did skip a lot of the content, though). He says it's still worth every penny, plus he's making a new character for it as we speak.
In short: yes.
the trailer looks exactly like metro 2033 campaign
looks awesome
So I need to break into someone's place to retrieve an object so I can receive access to a junkyard that I need to search to find a drill part. Anyway, I killed the guy that owned the place to retrieve his keycard, so he wouldn't be a problem. When I report the the gang boss that owns the scrapyard that I retrieved the keycard, he tells me of what exactly I need to obtain for him but not before mentioning that he would have preferred to kill the fucker himself. Before I depart, he informs me that the person I killed was good at making mines.
Uh oh.
I have 0 skill point in traps.
Wish me luck.
is this a mmo or just single player
nvm on site says single player they should add co op
I can't see how he would be able to incorporate multiplayer on his own, not to mention it would be out of place.
I can't see how he would be able to incorporate multiplayer on his own, not to mention it would be out of place.
Why did you Disagree with me, what is so bad about co op in a game?
Why did you Disagree with me, what is so bad about co op in a game?
because they would have to take time away from improving the single player, so that they can add coop.
which would result in less content.
They? It's one guy and ya it would take a way from single-player dev time, but down the road when single player is done co op would always be nice just some networking and i'm sure he could add it in.
