VRChat is a social game where you can make your own custom worlds and avatars, partake in events and just sort of hang out. Facepunch member created worlds: The Valiant by Korro Bravin Desert Bus VR by Afromana The Lady Vengeance by Afromana Guardian by HTS CONNER Foundry by HTS CONNER (Message me if you've made a world and want it listed here) Useful links: VRChat Website VRChat Event Calendar VRChat Official Discord Facepunch VR Discord FAQ:
Q: How do I make custom avatar? A: To make a custom avatar or even worlds, you'll need to download Unity 5.6.3p1, make a VRChat account and get the VRChat SDK from the VRChat.net website. The steps after that might be a bit complex depending on how much Unity you know, but there's some useful tutorials on the official Discord, and we should be able to help you out in the FPVR Discord. Q: Is VR required to play this? A: No, but desktop users have a lot less features, as that's not the current focus of development. Q: Why are there so many annoying screaming people around lately, where's everyone at? A: Not to worry, there's still a lot of us around, we're probably just sitting in friends instances due to the public instances being a bit problematic lately, just hit us up on the Discord or here and we can try to organize a bit of a meetup. Things will hopefully calm down a bit once the initial streamer wave wears off a bit. The moment when you get everything working on the model you've been slaving over for days is amazing. I can finally play the game now.

i spent like 4 hours trying to get lady from dmc working i mean she works i just wish i didn't have to pay £20 to get jiggle physics and i also wish her face worked
thread title is entirely wrong. "how do i get boob jiggle physics to work" is more appropriate
This game has given me a better perspective on peoples mindsets when they say "oc, do not steal". Half the fun of this game is making/porting your own avatars and making people laugh at the dumb shit you can do with your unique avatar.
So I spend a couple hours taking a crack at working drums, only to find out that VRC_Event_Handler isnt supported anymore. [t]https://puu.sh/ySDSn/1fbb0f7d4a.png[/t] Kind of at a loss now.
You could try making a different animation override per drum sound, just need to hit different buttons to trigger them.
I'm noticing a theme with VRChat tutorials... they almost always use an anime character.
I'm noticing a theme with VRChat tutorials... they almost always use an anime character.
that's the closest people will get to being an anime girl
That and taking someone else's effort and converting a MMD model for vr chat is one of the easiest ways to do it. The majority of MMD models are anime.
I normally run around as a Metrocop and I managed to run into Gordon Freeman, hilarity ensued when I threw cans at him. [t]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/905653802588181655/D7BB527FA298AC27199F1176C629B1752BB69B7A/[/t]

I thought they wouldn't allow that as people would just spam them?
It is a particle effect and for the avatar I was in at the time, I made them levitate for shits and giggles.

If I try to play VRchat with my Vive, I get stuck in an infite loading screen when I leave the lobby, and while I'm the in the lobby playermodels just don't load. Doesn't happen when I don't play in VR mode. Anyone know if this is some kind of bug or a hardware thing?

Try deleting VRChat's cache. The folder you need to delete is C:\Users\"Your Username"\appdata\LocalLow\VRChat . It's supposed to be where temporary data like peoples avatars and worlds is stored, but the cache is bugged and never gets cleared out. Corrupt data in the cache seems to be a common source of issues like that. Just yesterday one of my friends was having the issue where every time he join a world, after a few minutes he'd automatically get kicked out of the world and back to the hub even if he was on his own private instance. Deleting the cache fixed it.

Kinda sucks that you cant use triggers anymore, though I hope we will be able in the future, ill probably make a bunch of interactive instruments then.
Well re-installing SteamVR and deleting the VRchat cache sorta worked, I could join a friends only instance with just two of us, but the game just gets stuck loading when I try to join anything that isn't the hub. But this game is so goddamn fun. I set my model to Big Boss and started throwing cups around in Cafe Leblanc.
VRChat made a bit of an apperance at Deadmau5's new years thing: (at 2:07) Both Deadmau5 and Justin Roiland have been in VRChat a few times, so I guess they made some deals :v:

That sounds exactly like you just don't have enough memory to load in most other worlds. The hub fills up your RAM with everyone's avatars, and when you try to load into another map it runs out of space. Check the task manager while you're running the game to see how much RAM you're using. If that's the case, avoid large worlds with lots of people in them. You can also avoid loading the hub entirely by setting a different starting world. Add this to your launch options for VRChat on steam: vrchat://launch?ref=vrchat.com&id=wld_97fda4a1-f820-4f09-a88c-2d2a95b668f7 where wld_97fda4a1-f820-4f09-a88c-2d2a95b668f7 is the ID of the world you want to load into (In this case the old hub). You can find the world ID's by selecting a world in the VRChat menu. The ID will be printed in one of the corners of the menu.
You know how when you're following a video tutorial and suddenly get to a stage where it simply doesn't work for no apparent reason? That's where I am with my sea lion avatar. I'm trying to add the VRC_Avatar Descriptor in Unity but it won't show up in the "add component" list even though I've imported the SDK just as instructed. Edit: fixed it by removing the SDK folder from the assets folder and then importing that folder instead of the SDK package. Not how the tutorials did it but ok. Discovered another problem though. Because the character mainly consists of a head sticking out of the ground I was hoping on making it very big and intimidating but because I have arms hidden beneath the ground I had to scale everything down way to much in order to fill the build requirements. Ech, guess I'll start working on something else. I know just the thing...
Its really great that we have a consolidated thread now.
So uh, how is VRChat with copyrighted content ported from other games? I'm debating porting some WoW stuff over.

I've managed all the VR games I've played so far fine, but VRchat does seem a bit more taxing on the system with everything it has to load at once. I'll stick to less populated, smaller worlds until I upgrade then hopefully report back with good news. Thanks for all the help
So uh, how is VRChat with copyrighted content ported from other games? Unless game developers start throwing cease and desists at the game, It should be fine.
