2017. Already past its tenth anniversary and driven by tremendous support from a few still-active Crashday players and fans, Moonbyte decided to bring their “baby” back to Steam.
Nowadays, in a fully digital landscape, the way community-driven online games are played and shared has changed – perfect conditions for a game like Crashday, and surely the ideal opportunity to pay tribute to the fans by making use of new technology and distribution channels while staying true to its roots.
This is Crashday: Redline Edition.

I've been involved with the testing (and some bug fixing) of the remaster - and I gotta say the gameplay certainly hasn't lost its appeal.
The driving model might feel weird at first but I got used to it quickly
That came as a pleasant surprise, it's like a mix between Flatout and twisted metal iirc
Waitwaitwait hold the FUCK up.
Multi-player finally works in Windows versions past XP? Because that was the gamebreaking bug of the original.

the master server went down in 2009 I believe, I don't think OS had anything to do with it
The remaster works perfectly fine on Windows 10 - and the netcode has been rewritten from scratch

Even LAN didn't work with 7, presumably also Vista.
Something about it being hardcoded for the networking stack used by XP and back.
Were some Russians (or east europeans) who made a patch so it supposedly worked with 7, but it was a lottery at getting that to work.
just got done playing some 8-player MP matches. A couple of bugs here and there but the release is solid
Wondering if we can organize some FP games
I keep hearing criticism of the "remastered" version in the same vein as this review on steam in regards to the multiplayer balancing and and handling.
Any reviews doing close and in-depth comparisons of the original and the remaster? because I remember the handling being a bit wonky with the original and the netcode being subpar at times, but this makes it seem like those issues that the original also had either weren't dealt with or somehow became worse.

There's plenty of quirks when lag and a hefty ping are involved (such as checkpoints not being updated on time, missiles being delayed, lobbies failing to start) but it's still much better regardless.
There are some bugs in the mix too - for instance, at the moment clients seem to be taking more damage than the host
The handling is the same as the original game - but the forced keyboard understeer has been removed. If you didn't like the original's handlng, you won't like CDRE's
Oh man I remember fucking around with the map editor a ton.
Did they keep the bug where if you drove up to the edge of map barrier thing and didn't press the gas or the brake it would accelerate the car away from it indefinitely? Hitting things at 1000 km/h was fun
yep, the speedbug is gone - if you really want it back you can edit game.dbs, but that will prevent you from playing online with others afaik
