Paladins is a first-person shooter video game developed by Hi-Rez Studios, the developers of the MOBA SMITE. The game is rooted in a colorful sci-fi fantasy setting featuring Champions, playable characters that have their own unique fire-function and skills. Combat in Paladins is also nearly entirely skillshot-based, meaning projectiles can be dodged. Although each champion has their own personality and abilities, to get around Paladins' maps, the real character variation comes from the Cards and Item Systems that augments a champion in different ways.
Modes: (Click the mode's name for more info)
Siege: Siege is a round based game mode where each team works to earn Objective Points to win the match. To earn these points players must either take control of a Capture Point (+1), escorting the Payload (that spawns after capturing a point) into the enemy team's base (+1) or stalling the enemy team's Payload until the time runs out (+1). The first team to earn 4 objective points wins. The 4th objective point cannot be earned by stalling the payload, and to win a team has either capture a point or escort the payload.
Onslaught: Onslaught is a Team Death Match and King of the Hill hybrid game mode. To win, players must earn tickets by either killing enemy playeres (5 tickets and controlling the large area in the middle of the arena (1 ticket per second). This area is controlled as long as there is one player and no opponents within it. The first team to reach 400 tickets, or the team with the most tickets after 10 minutes, wins.
Payload: Payload is an Attack / Defend style game mode with two rounds. The attacking team must escort the stolen treasure to the drop point near the defending team's base while the defenders push it back and hold long enough for the timer to run out. When round one is complete, both teams swap sides. The team that got the Payload cart furthest will win the match. If both teams push the Payload cart all the way, then the team that pushed it to the end point in less time will win the match.
Ranked: Paladins' in-game competitive mode that allow players to join a competitive version of Siege and progress through ranks, from Bronze to Grandmaster tiers. Each tier is then divided in 5 subdivisions, from 5 to 1. As you play, you'll gain Triumph Points (or TP) and once you pass 100 TP in your current division you are immediately promoted to the next division. If you are performing exceptionally in your current division, you may skip forward a few divisions when you are promoted.

Champions
Champions are the playable characters in Paladins. Each one has its own unique abilities and fighting style. Champions use Cards to increase their performance and enhance their skills.
Champions are organized into 4 different types: Front Line, Damage, Support and Flank.
Every champion possesses a unique weapon, 4 skills, and a special skill called Ultimate. Ultimate skills are not subject to cooldown, but instead have a meter that must be charged before they can be used. This meter passively gains a 1% charge every 3.33s but can be actively increased by dealing damage to enemies and restoring the missing health of allies. Landing a killing blow on an enemy with a high killstreak grants an additional 10% ultimate charge for each killstreak after the 5th. Using an ultimate will deplete the meter, allowing it to recharge.
New players start with 5 champions unlocked by default: Cassie, Fernando, Pip, Skye and Viktor. Players also get 4 additional champions temporarily from a rotating schedule. The free rotation is changed every 2 weeks.
Additional champions can be purchased for either Gold (free currency) or Crystals (cash currency). The Founder's Pack includes the Champion Pack, which automatically unlocks all current and future Champions in the game.
You can find a list of champions here: List of champions.
Cards
The Cards system in Paladins is one of the main features that sets the game apart from others in the genre. Cards offer players the ability to empower a Champions's attributes and enhance or modify their skills, tailoring them to a particular playstyle. Cards are equipped by champions 5 at a time in sets called loadouts.
All players start with the same 5 unlocked cards for each champion. These 5 cards are contained in a loadout called "Default Loadout" that cannot be modified or deleted. Additional cards can be obtained via crafting with Essence or unlocking through Radiant Chests.
Cards are organized by Rarity (Common, Rare and Epic), categorized by effected aspect (First skill, Second skill, Third skill and Armor/Weapon), and leveled by Rank (I, II, III, IV). A card's Rarity determines the amount of essence required to craft and obtained when disenchanted. A card's category clarifies which aspect of the champion is affected (e.g. Viktor's XL Mag card in the Armor/Weapon category increases his maximum ammo). A card's Rank signifies the amount of loadout points invested (see Loadouts and Deck Building).
Champions also have a special class of cards called Legendary Cards. All players start with the same unlocked Legendary card for each champion. Instead of being drafted into loadouts, these cards are separately selected at the start of the match alongside the loadout selection. Legendary cards provide stronger effects than normal cards, occasionally causing radical changes to the way a champion's skills work at the cost of some counterbalancing penalty.
You can find more information on cards, card crafting and deck building here: Cards.
Items
Items are special kinds of cards that all champions have access to via the in-match store. These items allow players to gain useful benefits such as bonus movement or reload speed. There are four types of items: Defense, Utility, Healing, and Attack.
Items can be purchased at the spawn rooms by pressing the item store key ("I" by default). Items are purchased with Credits.
A player can only have one item from each category at once. Each item can be upgraded up to two times, replacing the previous item with a stronger version of itself. Each upgrade costs the original value multiplied by 2 or 3 (e.g. a 300 Credits item will cost 600 Credits to upgrade to tier 2, and 900 Credits to upgrade to tier 3). Once purchased or upgraded, items cannot be sold or downgraded. There is an autobuy function that allows new players to have the game purchase items for them. This feature can be toggled on and off from the Gameplay tab in the Options menu.
Items don't carry over to other matches. In Payload, items are reset at the start of the second round.

Terminus is literally a Pillar Man from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Also thanks for making another thread for the very few Paladin's fans on facepunch, Malvodion.
If you can't afford/run Overwatch, this is the game for you.
I jest, but I like this game
I linked it on the op but forgot to bring attention to it: Next update (0.61) is coming out tomorrow with a new frontline (Terminus), a rework for Buck, a new diminishing returns system, and they are testing a new option to allow players to switch between first and third person cameras at will (in casuals only).
Here's the changelog: http://forums.paladins.com/showthread.php?59648-Open-Beta-61-Patch-Notes-October-18th-2017
And Terminus' page: https://paladins.gamepedia.com/Terminus
And the new skins:

0.62 is coming out this week http://forums.paladins.com/showthread.php?61016
Nothing too crazy: there are adding new skins (they are changing Fernando's accessory from his head/helmet to his shield), a new test map, new character icons, and there is some rebalances and bugfixes.
They're finally updating Grohk though.

A new update and a new champion is coming out next week: http://forums.paladins.com/showthread.php?62008-Open-Beta-63-Patch-Notes-November-15
The new champion is gonna be Vivian, the Cunning (damage)

Well, the Battlegrounds game mode came out today. It's pretty neat, though battle royale games aren't really my thing so I'm not sure if I'll play it much.
Kinda want to play Paladins again, but after Cards Unbound, something in my brain just ticks off and turns me off from it. A shame since I didn't want to stop playing.
Kinda want to play Paladins again, but after Cards Unbound, something in my brain just ticks off and turns me off from it. A shame since I didn't want to stop playing.
Yeah, the system isn't great. I pretty much just pretend it doesn't exist and play like normal, though it did make me play less often. I still like the game for the gameplay, so until they screw with that too I won't be uninstalling it.

Summary: Cards Unbound is gone and we're gonna pretty much go back to the old system, except Legendaries (Talents now) are earned through leveling and all normal cards will be free.
Guess I'm getting back into Paladins :v:
The new Battlegrounds (PABG) mode is actually dope. A really well handled way to do this kind of thing with a hero shooter imo.
Im honestly surprised they actually listened to the community, I didn't think they would revert OB64... :neat:

My boy Jenos is gonna be back in the meta.
Wonder when they'll announce this for Switch since Blizzard doesn't want to port Overwatch
They just had a dev insight talking about Battlegrounds and it seems they are going to change it to be more like other BR games where you drop in as a base character, instead of one of the champions, and find their weapons and skills instead.
[editline]23rd February 2018[/editline]
Also, in case you missed it from yesterday, Battlegrounds is going to be its own separate game.
Wonder when they'll announce this for Switch since Blizzard doesn't want to port Overwatch
iirc Blizzard does want to port Overwatch to switch but it's far from being on their to-do list because of the difficulty and other current priorities.
My roommate would have a field day if Paladins was ported though because he's a hardcore Nintendo fan who only plays the switch, and literally only turns on his laptop to play Paladins and Fortnite.
Here's the changelog for OB67 (it came out today): http://forums.paladins.com/showthread.php?71718
Lots of changes and rebalances (including the scrapping of the "cards unbound" system), along with new cosmetics.
[t]https://web2.hirez.com/paladins//wp-content/uploads/2018/03/PatchPreview-OB68-Tyra-Drakefire-1920x1080-JT.jpg[/t] [t]https://web2.hirez.com/paladins//wp-content/uploads/2018/03/PatchPreview-OB67-PipArctic-1920x1080-JT-0806de35-1519769256419.jpg[/t]
An update on cosmetics: https://www.paladins.com/parts-pieces-and-making-better-skins/
Basically they'll be merging cosmetic sets back to single skin + weapon (people who only owned one part of the skin will get the full thing for free. skin sets that had multiple accessories will have the most popular used for the skin, and anyone who owned the scrapped ones will get a refund), scrapping all but 1 recolor and making the recolor available with gold (just like in smite). It's so they can have more room for more complex skins like these:

He's the changelog for OB68 (which is coming out next week): Open Beta 68 Updates Notes | March 28
Losts of balance changes and adjustments, including changes to mechanics like crowd control reduction and the reveal debuff. They are also removing stealth grass from the game and modifying old maps by adding extra covers here and there and changing props and geometry to make the maps more symetical, plus some optimizations.
Season 2 ranked starts with this patch (meaning season 1 ends next week).
There's going to be a new siege map (Ascension Peak) with its own event: https://www.paladins.com/events/siege-of-ascension-peak
https://web2.hirez.com/paladins//wp-content/uploads/2018/03/island-final-v2.png
I don't like the new gamemode that much. It gets REALLY repetitive after like 3 playthroughs, since we can't choose our heroes and the heroes are the same everytime.
Two things: Khan and OB69 are coming out next week: Open Beta 69 Updates Notes | April 11
Here's Khan: https://paladins.gamepedia.com/Khan
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36dGXD3v_8s
Also the battlegrounds mode got disable and is now being made into its own game, Realm Royale. The game is in closed alpha now (meaning no screenshots or streaming), but there's the FAQ: Realm Royale Closed Alpha FAQ + Info on Forging System
From what I've managed to play yesterday, feels like a weird fortnite knockoff, although the previous attempt of battleground wasn't all that good but for sure it was more unique than the current one. Regardless, it's interesting to see how the gamemode changes, good thing at least they are trying to experiment with various ideas.
Not gonna lie, i'm really happy to have this game back now that they've not only reverted cards unbound but also improved on the old system. The future for it seems bright now that the smite creative director is in charge.
OB69 is out now. Khan's a weird one, not sure about his ultimate. It simultanerously feels amazing to use (single out one person to yeet where you like, preferably off the map cause you throw quite far), yet pretty lackluster compared to the other Frontline's ultimates which help you clear or hold a space.
It its a bit weird, but don't forget that his ult also knocks back other enemies hit by the thrown victim. You can play bowling with the enemy team. (And of course you can just fling an MVP into space.)
The rest of his kit also feels pretty good to use, even with the small delay the dash is great.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I should try that when I next get the chance to play him.
How strong is his shout anyway? I dont have the shout related talent card so I haven't played with my SHOUTY MAN build yet.
Its nice.
I'm not good enough with him to really say how strong he can be, but an AoE heal that grants 4s of CC immunity and extra damage on a 10s cooldown is no joke.
waitwaitwait
He also has a loadout card for refreshing cooldowns by up to 52%? at max rank
Healing someone who gets a kill counts for elimination
Someone please give this a shot because it sounds stupid as fuck :v
