MY SUMMER CAR is the ultimate car owning, building, fixing, tuning, maintenance AND permadeath life survival simulator. You start the game with hundreds of loose parts and assemble both car and engine. Not only you need to maintain your car, but yourself as well. Sausages, beer and sleeping will do just fine.
If everything goes well, you have a working car which you can use for various 1990's Finnish countryside summer activities. Basically doing stupid things under influence of alcohol. After you have gathered extra money from various random jobs, you can start to tune and upgrade the car with parts ordered via snail mail. You can turn the car into a obnoxious bass-boom disco machine.... or into a rally car to participate rally competitions... or just fix it into perfect factory condition. Of course car also needs to pass the inspection or you might get into trouble with police.
Not only you have access to one car, but also several other cars and vehicles which you can use. (Mostly useful to get groceries and for towing the project car from some ditch, again).
Warning, this game is not for fainted heart. Severe car fever is required to play this properly due to it's autistic approach on car building.
-Full car assembly with over hundred parts
-Detailed driving and engine simulation
-Various other vehicles, cars and boat to use and drive
-Dozens of kilometers worth of dirt and paved roads with AI traffic
-Random paying jobs to cover food, beverage and fuel expenses
-Rally event to participate in
-Permanent death
-Sauna bathing
-90's Finnish summer!
-Support for steering wheel and shifter controllers
-Much more!
This is why the indie scene is so great. Where the fuck else would you find something like this?
This actually looks really interesting, imagine having something like this with MP, trying to assemble an engine while all your friends are yelling what to do and what you're doing wrong :v:

Reminds me of Jalopy.
Reminds me of Jalopy.
Except it's a billion times more detailed and from the sound of things has a billion times more content at EA launch.
So when is it gonna be available for purchase?
[editline]17th October 2016[/editline]
Also how much will it cost?
-Decreased rain / thunder probability
Thought this was a Finnish simulator game and not a Finnish fantasy adventure

Sometime this month, around 15 euros or less.
Except it's a billion times more detailed and from the sound of things has a billion times more content at EA launch.
Even the extremely early build I played had far more content than Jalopy. It took me a few days just to put the car together without a guide and I think they've added more parts since.
i want this game so damn bad and can't wait at all for it to go up, ive been looking forward to this since like 2014
autistic approach on car building.
looks good
I was about to make a thread on this. Good to see I have been spared the effort.
As a professional mechanic, I'm torn between wanting even more complexity* and finding it very much enough as it is, given how fiddly it's going to be to get things in place using a mouse instead of your actual hands.
*to name a few: no over-/undertightening nuts and bolts, which would really be a nice thing to have imho, no need to assemble/disassemble disc and drum brakes, and from what I've seen there are SO many things that the game doesn't allow you to get wrong when building the engine.

Or how about having to go to a pub to watch Finland lose again in a sporting match, and then have to all drive home while being drunk off your asses. The winner is whoever makes it home without ending up in a ditch, lake, or a bunch of trees.

We don't care about losing, as long as we're not losing to sweden.
Since the radio is functional, I wonder if we'll be able to put custom music for it.....like Finnish metal bands

Cool it'll be like putting together a real car. Hopefully the videos are better than the one I used to install a short ram intake into my car
No idea. Haven't watched one.
But I played the leaked 172 build once, and it's fairly straightforward if you've worked on cars before. For somebody who hasn't, I can imagine that it'll take quite some time to figure everything out without help. For some parts the game is very lenient in deciding whether you're pointing them at the right place and will let you snap them on. But for some it actually only works from a few very weird angles, and you might be holding them in the correct position but they wouldn't let you place them. So it can be confusing if you don't know that this part does go there.
Can you strap a hydraulic press to the top of your car?
