Star Citizen is the most ambitious PC space sim project to date, created by Chris Roberts and developed at Cloud Imperium Games and Foundry 42. Star Citizen is in fact two separate but linked games, the single-player storyline campaign Squadron 42 and the online multiplayer persistent sandbox properly named Star Citizen.
Star Citizen is a first-person universe: you are not a ship, you are a human piloting a ship and you can get up, walk around, and get into gunfights freely. Combat is only one aspect, as a number of career paths and activities are planned and in development, including: hauling, mining, competitive racing, search & rescue, brewing space drugs, salvaging, poaching alien wildlife, livestreaming events to both in-game and out-of-game streams, and info hauling. Skill-based activities will rely on player skill, not artificial RPG skills.
It is 2946, humanity has spread far beyond the confines of Earth, and we have found that we are not alone. The United Earth Empire has made contact with the Banu (nomadic traders), the Xi'An (more technologically sophisticated than us, master terraformers), the Tevarin (a proud warlike people we've since subjugated), and the knife-obsessed edgelords Admiral Bishop is ranting about below and that we're preparing for war with, the Vanduul. The UEE is thematically modeled after ancient Rome before its collapse, and Citizenship must be earned through coin or effort.
Star Citizen is being developed for Windows and Linux and is designed to take full advantage of the user's hardware, including VR and TrackIR (not officially supported just yet) and various configurations of joystick and HOTAS setups. The system requirements are also high, and the hardware that'll be the recommended specs at launch doesn't exist yet.
Weekly schedule
Starting with the 2016 anniversary livestream, CIG has begun publishing their internal schedules, with caveats that these schedules are not hard deadlines but aggressive targets and so on. The info comes straight from their internal management software (JIRA/etc.) with sensitive info like assigned dev names redacted.
- Monday: Jump Point article reruns
- Tuesday: Lore post
- Wednesday: Subscriber Vault updates, Bugsmashers and Loremaker's Guide to the Galaxy (usually one or the other)
- Thursday: Around the Verse
- Friday: Reverse the Verse
Extra:
- First Friday of the month (typically): Previous month's Monthly Report
- Second Friday of the month: Subscriber monthly hangar flair reward
- Third Friday of the month: Jump Point (monthly magazine for subscribers)
- A Wednesday (varies month to month): Reverse the Verse subscribers edition (public stream, subscribers-only questions)
So, Rise of Flight for practicing Retaliators anyone? :v:
Can't wait for 2.0 to go public so I can crash my Mustang into Connies while in quantum
You ain't getting my referral code from me!
Discord, a couple hours ago:
Zyloh-CIG: Alright so QA is working with Paul Reindell closely right now on a special compiled build. He is able to monitor the server real-time with this setup and we are testing some fixes and doing a bit of testing. We would love to push the patch later today but as it goes every day, it depends on testing. I'll keep you all in the loop
whoops
also oh shit there's 20 bucks in my account

[sp]I melted that package down for the full $80 credit after the pricing fiasco, free dosh get[/sp]
a note to any of you nerds using referral codes to make accounts: You guarantee that 5000 UEC credit immediately. There's not much of value to get with it at the moment but it'll be good cash to start the game with down the line. don't buy any of the stuff in the store with it since at the moment it's mostly weapons that you can play with by earning ingame credit from multiplayer stuff.
upon spending $40, your referrer [del]earns $5 store credit to apply toward their dream ship or a useless hangar decoration or whatever[/del] gets tiny rewards and also lied to
Actually, the referrer doesn't get $5 store credit when the referree buys a package; the referrer gets a point on the silly little referral ladder they have.
I just want the aquarium. But not so much that I'm going to buy myself three Aurora LN packages on alts for it. :v:
when did this change
I'm tearing down the referral link and putting my paypal up instead
[editline]e[/editline]
I had a few before, but I now total 5 referrees, all of whom either bought the $30 packages and don't plan on more, or are free fliers. spend money thanks
If you've got time, rent a gladius.
erryone gets one until the 14th though, right?
when did this change
This is what the current referral program was from the moment it was revealed at CitizenCon.
There was an old referral program waaay back but it was discontinued after a while, long before my time.
Also it seems like as long as the referred person spends $40 on their own account, they count.
Referral Citizen.
All new Multi-Referred Ships combat coming soon in 2.0.

I met some folks on a teamspeak that were all oblivious to the games existence, I showed them the light, and now have 3 referrals already, I just have a few more to convince.
Has anybody here been able to play together on the PTU on purpose? Does any of the group functionality work?
PTU 2.0H LIVE

Me and Korro have; right now, the best you can do is hope to cram into the same instance as your friend by coordinating joins. Private parties are intended to be a thing by 2.0 live launch.

Patch notes? I'm not in PTU

RIP, either you're a youtuber and you can recruit 100 people or you're a normal person and you can shamelessly recruit like, a couple dudes.
Patch notes? I'm not in PTU
Lots of little bugfixes and supposedly it's less stable than the previous build.

all the way to #210,000?
What number am I again?

Fuck........
All this talk of referrals, if I had known before I bought the game last week I could've used one of someones here :v:
My first experience in 2.0 was
Getting stuck on the ship selection screen, so I said fuck it and stowed away on someones Connie :v:
This is the game I backed for
Man they weren't kidding about the performance improvements. The Olisar map runs twice as fast, but crashes twice as often now.
RIP, either you're a youtuber and you can recruit 100 people or you're a normal person and you can shamelessly recruit like, a couple dudes.
this is actually a pretty 'normal person' friendly referral system
1, 3, 5 and 10 is like, within the same order of magnitude that a normal person could achieve by 'enlightening' friends and acquaintances. I've seen programs with rewards from 10 to 1000 which are obviously targeted at youtubers and shit
[editline]5th December 2015[/editline]
and apparently I have a referral? I didn't even notice this until I went to the page to check the rewards

I have no idea who that is... don't tell me the sc subreddit randomiser got me a referral??
that badger will actually be really handy on the cutlass though
At least give me credit for making OP elix :(
[editline]5th December 2015[/editline]
The original I mean

press f again.
Tried 2.0.0H twice. One GIM failure (CTD on Mustang loading screen) and one Unlocalized error dropping me back to menu from the Mustang loading screen. So, still not out of the woods on stability yet, but they're still making steady progress.
Can someone remove the edit protection on the document? Or just add my referral code to it, it's STAR-9QDH-NRK9. My forum name and RSI handle are already there.
So I got another invite to the PTU :v:
Wish I could give it to someone or something...
