Hello, welcome to the Dark Souls, Demon's Souls & Bloodborne megathread! From Software created the Souls series along with other great games such as Armored Core and King's Field. The Souls games are action/adventure RPGs that are well known by many for their challenging and rewarding gameplay. Demon's Souls is the first game in the series and is exclusive to the PS3. Dark Souls is its spiritual successor, available on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Dark Souls 2 is the latest game in the series and is to be released on March 11th, 13th, and 14th worldwide for Xbox 360 and PS3, with the PC version coming out on April 25th. The PC port of the original Dark Souls was not so great, however there are several modifications that help to fix a lot of the problems, you'll find most of them linked below under the "Dark Souls Prepare To Die Edition" image. Of all these helpful modifications, DSFix is almost necessary. Face your fears as you search for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire. Danger, death and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific world, and you must discover its darkest secrets in order to survive. Use holy chalices to gain entrance to a network of vast underground ruins, filled with traps, beasts, and rewards, to explore and conquer alone or with others. These procedurally generated dungeons offer brand new challenges to master. Armed with a unique arsenal of weaponry, including guns and saw cleavers, you'll need wits, strategy and reflexes to take down the agile and intelligent enemies that guard the city's dark secrets. According to lead director and series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game's gameplay design followed "closely from Dark Souls II". Players are equipped with a variety of weapons including shortbows, explosives like fire bombs, greatswords and dual-wielding swords to fight against enemies, and shields that can be used to deflect an enemies' attack and protect the player from suffering damage. In addition, attacks can be evaded through dodge-rolling. Bonfires, which serve as checkpoints, return from previous installments. Ashes, according to Miyazaki, play an important role in the game. Magic is featured in the game and the magic meter returns from Demon's Souls. Each attack has two different styles. One of them is standard attack, while another provides power-ups to players, and is slightly more powerful. When performing miracles and spells, the players' magic points are consumed and decreased. In order to refill these points, they need to consume an "Ash Estus Flask". There are two different Estus Flasks in the game. One of them refills hit points like previous games in the series, while another helps refill magic points. Combat and movements were made faster and more fluid in Dark Souls III. Several players' movements, such as backstepping and swinging heavy weapons, can be performed more rapidly, allowing players to deal more damage in a short period of time. Throughout the game, players encounter different types of enemies, each with different behaviors. Some of them change their combat pattern during battles. New combat features are introduced in Dark Souls III, including "Weapon Arts", which are special abilities that vary from weapon to weapon that enable extra damage and unique movesets for a limited time, at the cost of magic points. Small gravestones are introduced. These gravestones light up when interacted with and not only serve as players' torches, but also provide additional lore to the game. The game puts more focus on role-playing, in which the character builder is expanded and weapons are improved to provide more tactical options to players. The game features fewer maps than its predecessor Dark Souls II, but levels were interconnected and were made larger, which encourages exploration. The adaptability stat from Dark Souls II was removed from Dark Souls III. The game features multiplayer elements, like the previous games in the series. It is said that one of the ancient crowns lay buried deep within these dark caverns but surely such a valued item cannot sit unguarded. Explore in search of a crown that holds the strength of lords from times long past. The story of Dark Souls II is not directly connected to Dark Souls, though they are set in the same world. The protagonist finds themselves in the Kingdom of Drangleic, a once powerful and prosperous land which fell into ruin and damnation after a series of unfortunate events, in search of a cure for their affliction, the curse of the Undead. During the glory days of Drangleic, the realm was ruled over by King Vendrick, a just and honorable king who led his country to prosperity with the help of his high-ranking knights, who were selected by the king himself for demonstrating both valor and charity. Drangleic was also known for its brave soldiers, the Defenders, who were known for using both pyromancies and advanced swordplay techniques to slay their foes. Due to this, the Defenders were the most feared soldiers in all of the kingdoms. The only warriors who were able to put a challenge to the Defenders were the Silverdrake Knights of Lindeldt, whose ability for casting miracles during battle made them worthy rivals to Drangleic's army. Cursed with the fate of the undead, will you fall like the mighty knights before you or will you rise and find a cure? In the Age of Ancients, the world was unformed, shrouded by fog, a land of grey crags, archtrees, and everlasting dragons but then there was fire and with fire came disparity. Heat and cold, life and death, and of course.. Light and Dark. Then, from the Dark, they came and found the Souls of Lords within the flame. Nito, the first of the dead. The Witch of Izalith, and her daughters of chaos. Gwyn, the Lord of Sunlight, and his faithful knights. And the furtive pygmy, so easily forgotten. With the Strength of Lords, they challenged the dragons. Gwyn's mighty bolts peeled apart their stone scales. The witches weaved great firestorms. Nito unleashed a miasma of death and disease. And Seath the Scaleless betrayed his own, and the dragons were no more. Thus began the Age of Fire. But soon, the flames will fade, and only Dark will remain. Even now, there are only embers, and man sees not light, but only endless nights. And amongst the living are seen, carriers of the accursed Darksign. As an accursed undead, your journey starts here in this land of fallen dragons and failed gods. Will you regain your humanity and rise to face the challenges ahead or will you simply hollow and admit defeat? There is no Demon's Souls 2 at this point in time. The game is set in the kingdom of Boletaria, ruled by the aging King Allant XII. Because of his greed, the king searched for power and prosperity through a dark ritual of channeling the power of souls that brought unprecedented prosperity to Boletaria, until the "Deep Fog" covered the land's outskirts, cutting off the kingdom from the outside world. Neighboring kingdoms sent scouts to investigate but none returned after entering the fog. It was only after Vallarfax of the royal Twin Fangs broke free from the fog that the rest of the world could be told of Boletaria's plight. By channeling souls, King Allant had awakened the Old One, a great demon residing below the Nexus. With the Old One's awakening, a dark fog had swept in that within it unleashed demons who feasted on the souls of mankind, where those left alive without a soul became insane and violent. Without resistance, the fog slowly begins to spread beyond Boletaria. This is where you, the player come in. Will you attempt to help save the Kingdom of Bolataria or will you side with the demons and feast on the souls of mankind? I ran into a group of hackers with DLC gear, and....One of them had the dragonslayer armour set.
That's a cool looking fashion [editline]25th March 2017[/editline] Anyone have tips for katana? I've never really been into it (more of a greatsword guy) but I want to try it recently I don't want to be a running R1 spam guy because that shit is so easy to parry

dark souls comes to an end next tuesday let's all remember this masterpiece of a trilogy
I have spotted 15 different people all using the Exile Greatsword online now. I guess I need to switch to a new weapon to maintain my special snowflake status.
Exile Greatsword has always been a normie weapon In fact all weapons are pretty common in DS3 because there's not a whole lot of them :v [sp]Ladle or go home[/sp]

So basically run a 66 strenght with blessed weapon spell and you get 700+ damage. Also Greatlance still sucks for hitting targets, so gg
I know it's always been the best curved greatsword, that's why I used it. Curved greatswords have consistently been my favorite class, but they've also consistently been a shitty one. Now, between curved greatswords actually becoming a good class for the first time in, I think Souls history period, and the Exile Greatsword already being the best one, it's so nuts that everyone uses it.

But what made it so terrible in the past was that it had absolutely zero poise, so you would always get interrupted first while trying to trade. At least now it'll make fighting with it more fair.
I've been using the Executioner Greatsword on my main guy just because I think it looks cool. I actually have no idea if it's good or not. :pudge:

I'm also speaking PvE wise, the lance has some serious issues hitting targets, the only good thing it has a lingering hitbox for a few frames. I tried disabling manual aiming which works decently but why would i disable the only good thing that helps me hit players, it's frustrating.
Grand Lance was the same way in DS2, but once you learned how to use it properly it'll never let you down. :v:
I have become one with comfyness [T]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/88224496142075205/88CA903872B47D311E7921A04BAAF98607DC83CC/[/T]
Grand Lance was the same way in DS2, but once you learned how to use it properly it'll never let you down. :v:
Not really close, to be honest. I never had issues whiffing most of the bosses or players in DS2 and it was instant comfort on using it. In 3, it's just not fun at all. It's worse than using a steering wheel. Also painting guardian sword meme returns with another broken wonder (not mine)
Grand Lance was the same way in DS2, but once you learned how to use it properly it'll never let you down. :v:
can confirm, it helped me tremendously with the skeleton lords.
As long as my PvP battles will be better than these ones, I'll be happy. :v:

i wanna make a new char to cosplay ornstein but i feel like everyone and their mom will be doing that now
Please tell me they actually put effort into the Str weapons this time
Holy crap, I just realized that the dead, calcified bodies you find in the Depths are the bodies of actual players who died because of the Basilisks' curse, that's fucking awesome.
Am I missing something? Why do people already have dlc armor?
Cheating.
Please tell me they actually put effort into the Str weapons this time
ultra greatswords only walk further forward when swinging, great hammers got a noticeable speed buff
Am I missing something? Why do people already have dlc armor?
The whole DLC was already patched in the game - but they may have not included the maps themselves yet, seeing as unlocking the DLC bonfires and warping to them has players stuck in a never ending loading screen
All the weapon arts for the dlc are really annoying combos it would seem
Tried Greatlance once again just to be sure. Still not as great as i hoped it'd be. The only way to damage is to trade hits which is in some cases just a poor way to make a weapon decent, most of the other uses are not as good like a normal spear. Tracking and some of the hitboxes are wonky, it has trouble for some unknown reason to catch roll and hit the target. You can barely steer with the running R1, you can move alright with weapon art but you might as well get parried. Amazing thing is the weapon art since it can 1 touch kill with right setup and if it doesn't, it knocks the enemy down which leaves to a good mixup. Damage is sweet. Ok to 1v1 without being aggressive, awful to brawl\on ganks. I still feel it's one of those underwhelming weapons for being, you know, the only greatlance in the game. I still want to try using it for the DLC and pump to 60 strenght but it really left me awful.
the HA buff made Leo counter pokes the de-facto strategy to employ when it comes to using the great lance
That's what I've always done personally anyway. If you're gonna' be trading hits, Leo Ring is definitely the way to go. :v:
Let's see, punked out Gwyndolyn, basically just finding excuses NOT to end the damn game... still don't have the heart to fight Priscilla... Ultimately just pulled the trigger on Four Kings, not really expecting a win. Last time I killed the first one as soon as he arrived, decked out in Havel's set for poise advantage and just waded through them. This time, my light-ass armor, started with a bit of trouble. Didn't take out the first before the others began the gank. Different fight, but they're not all that aggressive. Finally said "fuck it" and started pulling out the magic... and Christ, crystal homing soulmass is just the win button on them! Did that until the health bar was depleted, like it wasn't even CLOSE...
That's what I've always done personally anyway. If you're gonna' be trading hits, Leo Ring is definitely the way to go. :v:
That is sadly most of my wins with the Greatlance. Don't need to R1 or R2 at all :v:
