Good thread. I have Silent Hill, Final Fantasy 7 and a few other PS1 games for my emulator. Feels good man.
Good thread. I have Silent Hill, Final Fantasy 7 and a few other PS1 games for my emulator. Feels good man.
PS1 is the only thing I'm yet to emulate. I've got a few games on lineup for when I do though. I just finished Conkers Bad Fur Day, that was some good stuff. Next i'll probably do some Wind Waker and Maniac Mansion.
Dolphin is fucking incredible. Anti aliasing on Wii games, higher resolutions, the whole shebang.
Dolphin is fucking incredible. Anti aliasing on Wii games, higher resolutions, the whole shebang.
Oh good god, it's addicting. Super Mario Galaxy looks amazing. I can't stop playing it, it's like butter... once you put your feet in, they get stuck.
I've got so much emulated stuff to play through at the moment, going to play through 90% of the Resident Evil series soon. Remake/2/3/Veronica/0/4/5

I can never get Dolphin to run well most of the time... Still an amazing emulator though.
I can never get Dolphin to run well most of the time... Still an amazing emulator though.
Mess around with the settings a little... not all games are supported but almost all you can get to some semi-functional to fully functional state.
wait, so does the mouse work like the wiimote in dolphin? i've always wanted to play mario galaxy with a mouse
wait, so does the mouse work like the wiimote in dolphin? i've always wanted to play mario galaxy with a mouse
you COULD get it to work... mess around with config and all that. I usually just use wiimote or keyboard. I could look into it if you'd like?
Mess around with the settings a little... not all games are supported but almost all you can get to some semi-functional to fully functional state.
Oh believe me, I have. It could be that Windwaker just won't run well, but I've seen reports of people with equal or lesser hardware getting it to run smoothly. Not a bad time to try again though.
I've seen reports of people with equal or lesser hardware getting it to run smoothly.
Are you like, maxing out the settings? A lot of the time I find people who max out the settings. For example, 4x anti aliasing is literally no different to 24x anti aliasing on Wind Waker. But 24x just destroys your PC. That kind of stuff is unnecessary
you COULD get it to work... mess around with config and all that. I usually just use wiimote or keyboard. I could look into it if you'd like?
how does the sensor bar work?
Has anyone had success with PS2 emulation? I know it's buggy as fuck to begin with but I can never seem to get anywhere with it. Also wouldn't it be better to recommend ePSXE for PS1 emulation? With the right plugins you can configure that to run any game perfectly.
If you start out with PS2 emulation on PCSX2, be sure to get the latest svn instead of the current stable version. You'll notice a big chance.
how does the sensor bar work?
When I was messing around with that, I found out something very interesting from a lanky shit friend of mine (AKA Lanky Kong). Basically, if you have the Sensor Bar powered, you can just have the wiimote plugged into your pc. Apparently all Data is calibrated in the Wiimote. Here's the info extract; Head back to the main Dolphin window one last time and click the icon next to GC Pad called "Wiimote." This will pop up a new window to set up your Wiimote. Explanation of different Wiimote settings: Input Source: Here you can select either Emulated Wiimote or Real Wiimote. If you haven't set up a Real Wiimote, select Emulated. This means that you will be using a keyboard and mouse or even a 360 controller to mimic using a Wiimote. Emulated Position: You will use this setting if you are playing a game such as NSMB Wii that uses the Wiimote held horizontally. If you don't check this off, I believe the game won't allow you to continue. Emulated Extension - Wii Motion Plus Connected: This doesn't work, don't bother. Emulated Extension - Nunchuck: This does work and will allow you to play games such as Super Mario Galaxy. Emulated UDPWii: This will allow you to use an iPhone as a Wiimote, read this: http://forums.dolphin-emulator.com/showthread.php?tid=8200 Button Mapping: This will bring up a new window to map keyboard keys or controller buttons to mimic Wiimote buttons. This allows you to bind things such as tilting or shaking the controller to a button press. There isn't really one single good set up as each game uses the Wiimote/Nunchuck different. It's really just a matter of trial and error to figure out what works best for you on each game. Everything else is really just optional and is explained by holding your mouse over. Close the window up and head back to the main Dolphin window and you will now have your basic set up ready for testing games out and tweaking. And remember, this config will not run every game perfectly, it is a balanced set up that works well for testing games out for the first time if they do not have a configuration guide. Settings up a real Wiimote for use in Dolphin is surprisingly simple. Chances are that you will have to spend around 50$ to get it all set up, but once you do, I think you will find that the cost was justified. You have quite a bit of choice when it comes to the components you use (the list of Bluetooth adapters here is quite long: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_Working_Bluetooth_Devices), but I am only going to cover what I used. While I can't speak for these other parts, I assume they will function very similar and the guide will still mostly apply. First, I purchased a Nyko Wireless Sensor Bar for 15$ on Amazon, Bluesoleil for 30$ on it's official site, and I already had a Bluetooth adapter in the form of my Logitech MX5500 Combo wireless USB adapter. It should be noted that you may not need to buy Bluesoleil as some BT adapters are supported by the native Windows Bluetooth Stack. Try that first before purchasing Bluesoleil. Once I had all the components I installed Bluesoleil, restarted my PC to let it finish the installation and then I switched my Logitech wireless USB adapter over to Bluetooth mode by holding down the red sync button as a pugged it into a USB slot. Bluesoleil immediately recognized that there was a Bluetooth adapter now plugged in and gave me a little pop-up to let me know. Then I went to "Explore Bluetooth Places" by right-clicking the Bluesoleil icon in the Notification Area on the Windows taskbar, grabbed my Wiimote and hit the red sync button, and then told Bluesoleil to look for devices. A Joystick showed up, named: "Nintendo RVL-CNT-01." This is obviously the Wiimote so all you have to do is right-click the icon and click "Connect" and the icon will change to green. Lastly, start up Dolphin, go to the Wiimote settings area and your Wiimote will do a slight rumble meaning that Dolphin now sees it. Just close that and start up your game and enjoy the wonderful feeling of using a Wiimote while playing Wii games in 1080p. Also wouldn't it be better to recommend ePSXE for PS1 emulation? With the right plugins you can configure that to run any game perfectly.
Alright, i'll note it in the thread and check it out officially later. Yeah, I've had a bit of progress with Persona 4 and the destroy all humans games.
Why have I not heard of this?
it's not a very well known game and i recommend anyone to play it
it's not a very well known game and i recommend anyone to play it
It's beyond 'beep boop' bullshit, barely being better than boring free roaming games with nothing much to do, just an empty world. Still, I haven't tried it, so I will now. Seeing as you said it is good, then I'm probably very wrong.
If anyone is looking for a nice gaming interface, I'd recommend HyperSpin. It's about the best out there. I'll create a download of all of their current features into 1 .rar for easy downloading. The site has a limit of 1 download per 120s. It's quite irritating.

I'd personally recommend Earthbound. I finished it yesterday and it is one of my favourite games I've ever played.
I bought a logitech gamepad last month to use for emulating. best purchase of anything in a while.
Replaying the megaman X games has given me such a nostalgia rush recently. And then I reached X6 and broke my keyboard.
Dolphin is fucking incredible. Anti aliasing on Wii games, higher resolutions, the whole shebang.
Shame Rogue Leader apparently doesn't work very well.

Only games I can't emulate at all are the Ratchet & Clank games but those didn't work on Sony's official PS2 emulator on the PS3 either so.
