Who shall return to glory, and who shall remain in exile to the end of their days? Key Features A New World From the Creators of Bastion and Transistor Experience the biggest and most imaginative world yet from Supergiant! Get to know an ensemble cast of characters struggling to earn back their freedom as you make your way across the forsaken land called the Downside. Action-Packed Three-on-Three Battle System Battle against a colorful cast of adversaries in pitched, high-stakes confrontations where each victory (or defeat!) brings your exiles closer to enlightenment. Choose three from your party for each Rite, and outfit them with mystic Talismans and powerful Masteries. A Branching Story with No Game-Over In Pyre, you will never be forced to lose progress. Whether you prevail or you fail, your journey continues. The interactive narrative is expressed through a story that no two players will experience in quite the same way. Challenge a Friend in Versus Mode On top of the single-player campaign, Pyre features a local two-player Versus Mode, where you can play against a friend (or CPU opponent) in one of the game's fast-paced ritual showdowns. Form your triumvirate from more than 20 unique characters. Rich, Atmospheric Presentation Pyre once again showcases the award-winning talents of the team that created Bastion and Transistor. The game offers a highly scalable challenge both in the campaign and Versus Mode. Experience it all in stunning 4K resolution (compatible display required)!
This game is fucking incredible.
Wow I didn't even know these guys were working on a new game since Transistor, let alone that it was out today. Came out of nowhere. Cool.
Just beat it (11 hours). What a beautiful game in every respect, definitely in my top 5 games ever.
How does the world in Pyre compare to the worlds of Bastion and Transistor? I haven't looked the game much yet but the world seems a bit more "generic fantasy" than their past games.

Rukey is a bae
yeah this game has an almost absurd amount of lore. also (liberation rites) [sp]who did you guys choose to let go of first? I chose the moon child, who I named Fae in my game. I was pretty happy to see the message from her that she was okay and everything :-)[/sp]

The moon-child (I picked Rhae) was one of the ones I left in the Downside, she seemed happier there. [/sp]

[sp]I let Jodariel go first even though I'd buffed her speed to absurd levels (she was faster then Hedwyn eventually) because I felt she deserved to go first- she HAD been in the Downside the longest and after I read her bio online I felt vindicated by that decision, even though most of my early-game tactics involved her eliminating the enemy team first The Readiness percentage also went up by 24% but that was a bonus as far as I was concerned[/sp]
Been a huge fan of Supergiant since Bastion, I've played 9hrs of Pyre so far on the Hard mode and I'm enjoying it, still have a ways to go before the end I think. I miss having a fully voiced character though.
Just beat it. What a great game, 8/10. Definitely my favorite from Supergiant (though tbh I wasn't that big a fan of Bastion/Transistor (don't hit me (i thought they were ok (like slightly above average (this one is really good though (i feel like the difference is this time the writing and the gameplay is on par with the art and the music)))))) [sp]I let go of Hedwyn first because it felt like it made the most sense as there needed to be someone to take on a leader role for the rebellion and he seem to fit the bill the most. Felt bad though, i liked him.[/sp] Does anyone know how varied the story gets? Like how much do my choices really matter, how many endings are there, is it worth a second or third playthrough etc. Also is there any indication that online multiplayer will be implemented? [editline]27th July 2017[/editline] Oh and if you're reading this and you're thinking of playing this game, make sure to play on the highest difficulty and to activate all of the handicaps (you'll know when it's available to you) as it forces you to actually utilize every mechanic and learn the game's intricacies rather than just being able to brute force your way to the goal (also, it makes it so you can actually lose, and losing can actually be a part of the narrative, so it's just better you know?) I mean obviously if you're getting your ass handed to you and you're not improving then you should tweak it but I think you should really try it out first.
I feel like the local multiplayer would benefit alot from being on the switch, wonder if they have plans for it later.
Rukey is a bae
No, [sp]Bae is bae.[/sp]
Jody's the best waifu, all you other chumps can go home.

finished the game last night, gotta write a small piece of my mind here: OPINIONS OPINIONS OPINIONS OPINIONS OPINIONS OPINIONS OPINIONS OPINIONS I always look forward to Supergiant Games because they always brought solutions to age-old game design problems. This is no exception, but honestly I've find this one to be on the weaker side. It is still engaging and provoking, but somewhat... wanting. This game is essentially a visual novel, with Satanball acting as wagered decisions. Satanball is fun, challenging, but a little repetitive, especially [sp]the filler rites[/sp] towards the end. Kinda wish the "A Branching Story with No Game-Over" is more fleshed out, rather than just [sp]who gets freedom, rivalry, or meaningless statistics[/sp]. One issue I've had with their games is that they seem to love flailing their enormous lore dick around. More of a nitpick because they are optional, I find it difficult to access myself into the world unless I am willing to go through 100+ pages of diary. Thankfully all the unique names have presentable tooltips so its 8 scribes and titans and million non-english names I can't be bothered to remember (this is something a lot of other games could benefit from, lore heavy or no) are still comprehensible. idk, but... they are not memorable, and don't mean anything other than flavor. Not a bad game. On the contrary, I think it is a rather flawless game (as in, there aren't any glaring negatives); Great characters, high agency, manageable story, good flow, excellent writing, passable soundtrack. I just... find the game fundamentally lacking (for the game to transcend, it would require many shifts in core concepts). Stakes aren't high enough; involvement not personal enough; world not immersive enough; it all just sits on the median. tl;dr great game, just not exactly my cup 'o' tea
[t]http://orig08.deviantart.net/f40e/f/2017/210/9/6/pyre___bae_by_marikbentusi-dbi4j5m.png[/t] Did some fanart of my MVP, tho my fav char is [sp]Sandra[/sp]. I was so happy when I got the option to [sp]take her with me.[/sp] Game really caught me off guard when [sp]Pamitha suddenly telepathy-begged me to forfeit the match against her sister. Legitimately made me feel torn up about what to do, despite Tamitha being an ass.[/sp]

I think the revolution in the end is a bit more violent with Tamitha rejoining the Highwing Remnants after being denied an authority position in the Commonwealth.[/sp]

[sp]I was also playing on hard with all titan stars btw (but I cheated because every time I was about to lose I would restart the match, don't tell anyone[/sp]

[sp]Freeing anyone other than Nightwings is mostly bad news anyway.[/sp] [sp]I played without Titan Stars because I felt the extra XP isn't worth it (if I lose I don't make back the lost XP anyways)[/sp]
I get what you're saying but the people that want to quit will just hard reset anyways, but yeah making it more inconvenient to discourage it will probably be good.
Just beat the game, definitely one of my all time favourites. This was a work of art truly. I love how everyone is basically going to get a different ending, there's so many small things that change based on what you do/who you fight/who you free and what you say. It kind of feels lackluster though, ending spoilers; [sp]I sacrifised my own chance at freedom to let Pamatha go leaving me, Volf, Bert and Tizmo to stay behind since I believed everyone else wanted to be free more than us and I'd fucked up once against Tamatha in a liberation rite and rolled with it so she went free and it just sorta went "the end." The only good part for The Reader is if you decide to take Sandra with you else you don't really have anyone.[/sp]
Ending spoilers [sp]Wasn't expecting Oralech to straight up just kill himself, kind of wished I chose him to go[/sp]
Ending spoilers [sp]Wasn't expecting Oralech to straight up just kill himself, kind of wished I chose him to go[/sp]
[sp]It was fucked up, yeah, but sending someone who's guaranteed to help the cause is a better option IMO. If Oralech wasn't prepared to help the revolution, then we couldn't spare the help to send him instead. Unrelated, but the people I chose to stay behind were Bertrude, Pamitha, and myself. Bertrude showed no signs of wanting to return and had already made a good life for herself down there, and I got the feeling that Pamitha would feel even worse if she went back and Tamitha didn't. Everyone else seemed like they'd be a greater asset to the plan or were more enthusiastic about going back than the rest.[/sp] What a good damn videogame.

Most are fine with Commonwealth or Downside either way. In the end it is all just flavor and fluff. The revolution succeeds even if no one got back (albeit it ended violently but who cares about some nameless folks).[/sp]
Ending spoilers [sp]Wasn't expecting Oralech to straight up just kill himself, kind of wished I chose him to go[/sp]
[sp]You can actually leave him in the Downside and he ends befriending Volfred again. You have to let him win the final Rite by a slim margin and you can reach out to him with your telepathy.[/sp]
[sp] I had Jodi go first, she deserved it. The moon-child (I picked Rhae) was one of the ones I left in the Downside, she seemed happier there. [/sp]
[sp]Same here. I completed my first Liberation Rite this afternoon, and in that final battle I got the old band together for her send off. Captain Jodariel, Rukey Greentail, and Hedywn the Outrider, together for one last rite.[/sp] So yeah. This is the first sports game I've enjoyed since Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. 'cause in a way, the Rites are essentially rugby for wizards. And I'm loving every minute of it, despite my disregard for most sports. Also, Rukey is one hell of a cur, and Ti'zo is the cutest imp I've ever seen. There really ought to be a plushy of that sweet boy.
