Roy Larner has already been hailed a hero, with a petition launched for him to be awarded the George Cross medal for his actions in the Black and Blue steakhouse on Saturday night. In fighting back, the 47-year-old Millwall fan gave dozens of others who were in the Borough Market restaurant the chance to escape. Now out of the intensive care ward of St Thomas’ Hospital, where he was treated for knife wounds all over his body including his neck, the father-of-one has told The Sun how he reacted when the killers burst into the restaurant shouting “Islam, Islam” and “This is for Allah”. “Like an idiot,” he told the newspaper, “I shouted back at them. I thought, ‘I need to take the p*** out of these b******s’.” “I took a few steps towards them and said, ‘F*** you, I’m Millwall’. So they started attacking me.”
I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet. Most amazing thing I've read in a while. Full story included in source, I really recommend the read. It's just great that in the midst of such a tragedy you can find a few heroes that lift your spirits.
Goddamn badass. He earned that medal.
As he recovers in hospital, Mr Larner’s friends have brought him a running magazine. The front cover headline reads: “Learn to run.”
God damn
"As he recovers in hospital, Mr Larner’s friends have brought him a running magazine. The front cover headline reads: “Learn to run.”" Cheeky sods :v: I'd prolly have cacked myself in his place, good on him for fighting them off. [editline]edit[/editline] Dammit Chickens!, making me look slow
What a badass, fuck
This is fucking badass, but while on the subject of football I saw something the other day that really pissed me off. There was a newspaper with the headline "London attacker wearing Arsenal shirt", like what does that have to do with anything?? They didn't mention the people that died, no, they were focused on what football team he supported. Can anyone tell me why a newspaper would do that or am I getting angry over nothing

Their club logo is a cannon. The same type of cannon ISIS wants to use to blow a hole in British society. The shirt itself is red. The colour of the labour party. Thus, we can conclude that labour supplies guns to ISIS.

It's a non story designed to rile the fans up, i 'hate' Arsenal (in sporting rivialy terms) but yeah i'm not gonna link any of them to that arsehole or his bullshit cause.
This is the type of folk we need. The ones who will not take ISIS, Al-Quaeda, or whatever run of the mill fundie shithead group of the week's bullshit. Cheers to this man, and hopefully many more will follow suit and start fighting back whenever the fight is brought to their streets by the Daesh rats.

Just because this dude happened to survive punching out a bunch of terrorists, does not mean anyone else should. I wish UK citizens would at least be able to conceal carry tazers or pepper spray. I can totally understand the no-guns aspect, however.
I don't really know if this is behaviour to recommend
i don't think it should be discouraged as well. if someone wants to take the risk i think they should take the risk
I wonder if this guy will ever have to pay a tab at that bar again.
Get drunk Fight terrorists Get a medal :v:
Him being pissed likely actually helped him survive being stabbed 8 times as well as slashed up. Stops you feeling the pain or going into shock from it. Eitherway it was a bit careless to do what he did (specially because he wasn't actually thinking at the time :v:), but it worked out. Still if you're given the choice when someone comes at you with a knife, you run, don't fight unless you have no other options, even self defense courses teach you this as one of the golden rules.
I don't really know if this is behaviour to recommend
I dunno. If anything, I think it should be standard behavior in an attack like this. Fight back, overwhelm the attacker(s) with weight of numbers. It's hard to pull a trigger or slash with a knife when you're being tackled by 6-8 people at once. What do you have to lose?
"fuck you im millwall" just wow, i think i may cry :'(
Millwall fans really do like to fight.

If you're the only one doing it and everyone runs you have a good chance of getting killed. Even if everyone does it there's a decent chance of getting killed even if it would benefit the majority. So in most attacks everyone runs.
