Women in Scotland are the first in the UK to be allowed to take the abortion pill at home. Scotland's Chief Medical Officer has written to all health boards to say the drug misoprostol can be taken by women outside of a clinical setting. The change brings Scotland in line with other countries such as Sweden and France. The British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) has been lobbying to change the law in the UK for years. There were 12,063 terminations of pregnancy in Scotland in 2016 and almost three-quarters (73.5%) were carried out at less than nine weeks gestation. The vast majority of these early terminations (89.4%) were medical rather than surgical procedures. The medical treatment involves taking two different medicines. The first tablet, called Mifepristone, blocks the action of the hormone progesterone, which is needed to maintain the pregnancy. The second tablet, called Misoprostol, can be given on the same day, or 24, 48 or 72 hours apart.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-41760959
This should be the standard everywhere, tbh.
but what of all the murdered zygotes and their rights!
He added: "The reality is that this will have many vulnerable women who may be desperate about the situation they are in, pushed towards what is seen as the easy option of being handed some drugs and sent home to stop being a problem for society."
because unexpected pregnancies and consiquently unwanted human beings aren't a larger problem for society
Abortion should be mandatory.
Abortion should be mandatory.
Hold up
Hold up
people with differing opinions will be aborted. are you on board or not?
Abortion should be mandatory.
Abortion should be mandatory.
Perhaps not mandatory, but an opt-out system would be more logical.
Abortion should be mandatory.
Alt right or anarchist left?
Perhaps not mandatory, but an opt-out system would be more logical.
Holy shit, I want a black mirror episode about that Just thinking about what society would be like if people didn't get born without their parents choosing to rather than the often "oops well we wanted one at some point" method

The truly subversive thing would be to have an episode about that, but in the end you realize there's nothing dystopian about it; it's all just a happy world of parents who wanted their kids, and then those kids grow up loved and safe.
However, John Deighan, chief executive of the Society for the protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) Scotland, said the change would mark "a return to the days of back street abortions with no medical oversight".
u wot m8?
u wot m8?
If anything, it's going to decrease back alley abortions because whodathunk making medically safe, legal abortions more accessible would decrease incredibly dangerous, illegal abortions?
Nobody has back alley abortions in the UK anymore, why? Because the Society for Protection of Unborn Children lost the fucking argument and people can feel safe going to doctors for it. If anything, this chump will bring back those days, those glory days. I do miss the taste of fetus .
u wot m8?
I think it's something like "there's no doctor present, therefore it's dangerous." So following that line of thinking, we have to get rid of Calpol, asap. No doctors present for over-the-counter stuff, next thing you know people will be growing their own penicillin.
Arrr, if ye be administerin' liniment in yer' own quarters, it be on same level with cuttin yer' own hand off stead'a gettin' a surgeon te be seein' yerr.
