An internal pitch project aimed to bring female characters to the cast of Team Fortress 2.
I was responsible for story, character development and visual design. With the exception of their class function, It was important that each design presented an entirely new character. I wanted these characters to live on their own and add dimension to the current roster of in-game characters. The goal of the project was to dive deep into possibilities and facilitate creative discussion.
No Pyro artwork :v:
very interesting, but doubt it would happen ever
They look pretty neat, reminds me of when TF2 actually followed the 50s aesthetic.
Reminds me of when TF2 had a consistent, gorgeous style. Such a shame what happened to it.
Especially love that Spy.
the stopwatch for 3d models starts now...
I give it 2 months before at least half of these are modeled and available for download.
Really liking that soldier one in the first image.
Properly thicc too, why didn't you use this valve???

Oh, man, that Heavy on the top right looks exactly like Makani's take on the FemHeavy concept

Why did this have to fall through?
I like the idea that they'd be whole new characters and not just genderswaps, getting a whole new set of distinctive TF2 characters with new personalities would have been great
Could have done a whole new series of Meet the Team videos, potentially

Doubling the voice acting budget.
Doubling the voice acting budget.
Plus there'd be issues with making sure all cosmetics fit both models, the voice acting, making sure they're still as immediately recognizable as the male ones n regards to being their class.
Its a cool idea but i can see a few reasons why it probably didnt happen.
Some of these are really nice. -really- love the first Spy. Though I think the community female x designs are pretty good too.
Properly thicc too, why didn't you use this valve???
Probably to avoid unnecessary amounts of porn.
Not a fan of the Heavy Weapons Gals. They look all blatantly muscular, while HW Guy is the kind of dude who's obviously really strong but also has his gut sticking out.
Just doesn't seem like they fit the same bodytype to me.

They're not necessarily meant to
cosmetics
Depends when this was pitched. They weren't thinking about cosmetics in 2007.
Doubling the voice acting budget.
??? Valve's been made of money for years, i sincerely doubt there's a game they couldn't publish no matter the ridiculous bill for funding

Every single Heavy x Medic and Sniper x Spy smut fanfic and drawing would like to have a word with you

Concept art Heavy wasn't as fat as the final one either.

They would have to be adapted into the cartoonish proportions as well.
They're not necessarily meant to
But ideally in a game with silhouettes as important as they [del]are[/del] were, you'd want them all to look similar and easily recognizable. Take a look at that top-right scout. Before I even noticed the class logos in the bottom right, I knew that was the scout, and that's what I think they should be going for.
all the designs are good
i want them all ingame

Weird theres no Sniper.

While it probably wouldnt be a financial problem, they've already had a shit time with their current voice actors' schedules.
Like they seem to always have some kind of trouble contacting them for lines all the time.

I like this soldier.

Oh yeah that ones good too.
They're good designs, I like the fact most of them are following the silhouette recognition logic where you can identify the class just by its overall pose and build.
Heavy Weapons Babushka is probably my favorite of all of them though.
granny demo would've been fun, shame these went unused

Female Spy reminds of Chemical Alia's old model
so is there a particular reason why they weren't released/developed? was it budget issue or taboo?
