A number of people have been injured in a collision with a car near the Natural History Museum in London, police say. The Metropolitan Police said one person had been detained following the incident in Exhibition Road in South Kensington. A BBC reporter at the scene said she had been told by police the injuries were minor. Police said inquiries are under way to establish the circumstances and any motive. BBC reporter Chloe Hayward was leaving the Natural History Museum as the incident happened. "I could see a car diagonally across the road, looking like it was going into one of the boulders on the side of the road, and I could see a crowd of people around what was clearly one or two people on the pavement," she said. She added there were now armed police at the scene. Um, BBC? Could you maybe have waited until there's more information? I mean, 'a thing happened with a car' is about as non-descriptive as you can get.
Mirror has more details. I expect BBC is waiting to verify.
Several people are believed to have been injured after a car apparently ploughed into pedestrians outside London's Natural History Museum. Shocked eyewitnesses described how the vehicle "drove into people" near the famous museum, with paramedics seen treating victims in the street. Reports claim a number of people have suffered minor injuries.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/multiple-people-injured-after-car-11303608
Seeing as how 1 person have been arrested, we'll just have to wait to see what's the outcome.
So I have a question. Assuming this was an attack by a muslim (It doesn't even sound intentional to be frank though so take me with a grain of salt) what's the fucking point? They bruised a bunch of people and now they have terrorist charges and they rot in a cell for the rest of their life. What is the logic
Update from BBC:
BBC reporter Chloe Hayward was leaving the Natural History Museum as the incident happened. She added there were now armed police at the scene. "We have had lots of police coming onto the scene, helicopters above, and I can see an ambulance which is definitely having someone put in, but it isn't clear how bad that injury is."
If they are unable to get any guns, the next most effective item to cause maximum damage with easy procurement is a car, and its all about being as sudden as you can. If its a very crowded area like an event or concert, they could extend the damage with people running and causing a stampede.
How do we know this isn't just someone who has had a medical incident while driving.
How do we know this isn't just someone who has had a medical incident while driving.
Or, for that matter, on their phone or somedumbshit
The road always have massive lines of people queuing for the museums and would be an obvious target. I think it has bollards all over though. With that said a few years ago they redid the road to make it more pedestrianised but it is really badly marked and confusing for drivers. I've seen some go in the oncoming lane thinking it was a one way road and such. There's a chance it was an accident.
How do we know this isn't just someone who has had a medical incident while driving.

An eyewitness who was walking to the Science Museum said: "When waiting for the light, we heard what I thought was gunshots and saw a car drive over the pavement. We just ran. My friend dived on the floor and cut her hands.

I expected the BBC to be the ones that actually wait for facts and actual information instead of jumping the very long gun.
That hasn't been the BBC for about six years or so; the politicization and tabloid/editorializing that started in the entertainment section has leaked rather thoroughly into other sections.
quote
If there is anything I've learned from paying attention to witness reports or people speculating online when something happens, there is always tons of gun shots, from everywhere, regardless if there is even a gun involved. I'd wait for some confirmation, witness reports aren't reliable. People freak out in situations like these and it's likely that they misremembered or were too busy trying to get away to pay attention.
