On Monday, June 12, a deputy who was working security for the Polk County Sheriff's Office work detail passed out. That morning the humidity was at 100% and it was 76 degrees outside.
http://www.11alive.com/news/local/polk-inmates-save-correctional-officer-who-passed-out-during-work-detail/450246591 Something positive. Plus:
POLK COUNTY, Ga. -- Polk County’s sheriff said he plans on knocking some time off of the sentences of the inmates who stepped in to help when a deputy went down.
http://www.11alive.com/news/inmates-step-in-to-help-fallen-deputy/450680802 e: Shit, I wrote the title when I had a shittier source but decided to find a less tabloidy one and forgot to update it. The humidity was at 100%, so it means it was raining? Edit: Ok that was a bad joke
The humidity was at 100%, so it means it was raining?
...no? humidity is relative to temperature and just means the air is holding as much water vapor as it can. [editline]21st June 2017[/editline] wow, ninja'd within like 5 seconds
The humidity was at 100%, so it means it was raining?
They were literally underwater. He got attacked by a shark. Lucky those inmates were there to save him.
As a Canadian who lives in the plains of Alberta I can't even fathom what 100% humidity at a temp 24 Celsius would feel like.
As a Canadian who lives in the plains of Alberta I can't even fathom what 100% humidity at a temp 24 Celsius would feel like.
Imagine being waterboarded in hell
As a Canadian who lives in the plains of Alberta I can't even fathom what 100% humidity at a temp 24 Celsius would feel like.
As someone born and raised in the south, absolutely miserable.
Humidity is the worst thing. I'd take 110*F and no humidity vs 90*F and high humidity any day.
As a Canadian who lives in the plains of Alberta I can't even fathom what 100% humidity at a temp 24 Celsius would feel like.
Today it was 43 C where I live, but 0% humidity. Dry heat is fairly tolerable... 100% humidity is just unbearable. I'll take my 43C and 0% wet over 24C and 100% hell.
Humidity is the worst thing. I'd take 110*F and no humidity vs 90*F and high humidity any day.
It was 102°F at 50% humidity today in my city and it looks like it's only gonna get worse over the summer. Kill me
I've been somewhere where the humidity was 100% at 35°C, and when you exit your air conditioned appartment it's as if you literally run into a wall of water.
georgia's humidity in the summer is fuckin awful, good on them for helpin the dude out
As a Canadian who lives in the plains of Alberta I can't even fathom what 100% humidity at a temp 24 Celsius would feel like.
This is why our relatively small temperature increases during summer are so bad in the UK. Our houses are built to insulate, no aircon and the lowest average humidity during summer is around 80%, so as you can imagine the last few days of 25-30 degrees have been unbearable.
Prisoners actually wear striped uniforms? I thought they had orange jumpsuits in the US.
Last week we had over 85% humidity up to 96% here in my home town, and despite not going over 23 degrees Celsius it was pure torture. Stories like these make me happy that, even though what intentions the inmates had or not; it gives a good light for the rehabilitation of criminals.
It's pretty crazy that the inmates were on work detail and they weren't the ones to pass out.
I like how they were working in a graveyard lol

It has been UNBEARABLY hot inside. Working for 12 hours a day do a very physical job in a building with no Ac in 30C weather has been...not fun to day the least. But I guess we shouldn't complain. We barely get great weather like this often nor for very long.
Yeah moist heat is crap, but I,d rather get that than a cold grey rainy day or worse....fucking snow.
As a Canadian who lives in the plains of Alberta I can't even fathom what 100% humidity at a temp 24 Celsius would feel like.
We've been at 35c with like 60% to 80% humidity. It's not that bad if you're just walking around the construction site. But the guys working take extra breaks and stay hydrated.
People say us brits can't handle temperatures when they get high*, this is one of the reasons. It's so fucking humid up here, especially Scotland so when it gets to 20C+ the humidity is what is the killer. You end up drenched in sweat and going inside won't help either *[sp]High to us British folk[/sp]
Georgia heat/humidity is no joke. I walked outside today to smoke a cig felt like I walked into a goddamn sauna made for the human torch.
Prisoners actually wear striped uniforms? I thought they had orange jumpsuits in the US.
Orange jumpsuits are common, but it all depends on the state/county
What a heart-warming story. I'm really glad all turned out so well.
It was a 101 and 70% humidity this past saturday. Went boating in the morning until noon, and I swear I didn't cool off until the next day. Glad they did this.
As a Canadian who lives in the plains of Alberta I can't even fathom what 100% humidity at a temp 24 Celsius would feel like.
It's been above 90% humidity and 90F days here in South Florida for the past two weeks. I swim to my car before driving to work.
Here in Buenos Aires we've had some days with 100% and around 107-108 f°. It's shit. 76°f on the other hand.. it ain't that much, but I might be used to it.
If the humidity in here reached 100% probably my body is already fucking melting away.
