• Security robot drowns itself in fountain
A security robot in Washington, D.C. -- lovingly named Steve -- plunged down four steps into a fountain Monday. Photos show the sad, waterlogged robot cop partially submerged in defeat. It's unclear if any foul play was involved or if Steve simply rolled down a dark path on his own. Steve had just started patrolling the Washington Harbour, a riverside complex in Georgetown with restaurants and offices, last week. The Washington Harbour and its real estate developer, MRP Realty, introduced the robot on Facebook on July 12. The post touts Steve's "extensive catalogue of security capabilities," which apparently does not include any underwater crime-fighting.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/18/us/security-robot-drown-trnd/index.html https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2017/07/19/rip-steve-security-robot-who-drowned-fountain/491227001/
Are these security robots any more than glorified cameras on wheels? What can they actually do to secure someplace? Any evildoers will just walk around it or knock it over... or wait for it to drown itself in a pool.
He gave his life for the job. Rest in peace Robro
At least we know that in case of a post-apocalyptic turnout of events of this world, we ain't going to face against some protectron-like robots as they'll drown in the Potomac river as soon as they can. But seriously, I want to know why and how this happened. I even saw a meme of a guy telling a poem to such robot and then the aftermath was this.

It's ok guys, maybe they can fix him.
It's ok guys, maybe they can fix him.
It's not like they don't have the technology... They can make him faster, stronger, lufer.
It's ok guys, maybe they can fix him.
and turn him into... HumanCop?
and turn him into... HumanCop?
The 6 Million Dollar Robot*
and turn him into... HumanCop?
This is one hella new concept. The future is happening, guys, we got fucking surveillance robots whirring around looking at us, and I only heard of it now when it dropped into that fountain, that's actually sort of sad. For me robots are sort of like insects, it's like a beetle falling down a branch, it's just an insect that doesn't feel pain but it still looks sad seeing things "die" like that. My sister had this dancing plushie toy as a kid and I remembe howr stunning and shocking it was to see her drop it midair on the swing by accident, and seeing it land in the inflateable pool we had, where it danced around in the water and short circuited, I was spooked and sad but my sister was devastated. It was broken, but my dad(who is originally an electrician with specific qualifications in control systems and electronics) somehow managed to fix it. If my electrician dad could fix a robot toy, a roboticist surely could fix whatever damage this robot took from water exposure. It seems to have at least some PR value, judging from the fact people made a fucking memorial for it.

So real it even has the suicide rate of cops.
He killed himself in defense after learning of a plot by himself to kill himself.
The 6 Million Dollar Robot*
Thx for reminding me of Bionic 6, they were called "The Six Million Dollar Family" here in Germany
This genuinely makes me sad. That poor thing.
I always get sad seeing robots and drones and such being destroyed or getting fucked up. It's painful watching "Fail" compilations and seeing some idiot destroying a drone or robot. I have weirdly strong empathy towards technology.

It's a real life Marvin the Paranoid Android.
It's ok guys, maybe they can fix him.
Given it lasted all of 8 days you can bet there are very furious lawyers involved somewhere.

A robot committing suicide by driving into a fountain sounds like the plot to a weird french art movie
A robot committing suicide by driving into a fountain sounds like the plot to a weird french art movie
Electroma
Well maybe if it wasn't a giant dildo on wheels they tried to pass off as a robot we wouldn't have this problem.
Well maybe if it wasn't a giant dildo on wheels they tried to pass off as a robot we wouldn't have this problem.
See, shit like this is what drives robots to suicide
See, shit like this is what drives robots to suicide
Excuse me but I was expecting badassery not roving dildos
What people said to that robot which drove it to suicide?
What people said to that robot which drove it to suicide?
Probably a logical paradox.
A robot committing suicide by driving into a fountain sounds like the plot to a weird french art movie
We will become as gods.
