Richmond police fatally shot a man wielding an ax and a large knife Tuesday after he had threatened people and attacked officers downtown, according to police and witnesses. A Richmond officer also was injured when he was struck in the vest by friendly fire, authorities said. The 12-year department veteran was treated at a hospital and has been released. The shooting unfolded shortly after 10 a.m. in the intersection of East Main and Third streets outside 3rd Street Diner. The police had been receiving reports that the armed man — who was wearing a kilt, combat-style boots and no shirt — had been wandering in other parts of downtown and Shockoe Slip. Police Chief Alfred Durham said that when officers encountered the man, they tried to de-escalate the situation and ordered him to drop his weapons. Police used a Taser, but when that was not effective, two officers fired their guns, Durham said.
http://www.richmond.com/news/local/crime/he-wasn-t-anybody-you-d-want-to-stop-police/article_50245fb9-761d-5423-9abc-bad546c8ef13.html [t]https://bloximages.newyork1.vip.townnews.com/richmond.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/c/ba/cbaadb8e-d5d2-5ef0-b9ca-a7881857412a/59780e24be14f.image.jpg[/t] [t]https://bloximages.newyork1.vip.townnews.com/richmond.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/4/f2/4f27a684-35d1-50b3-aea2-9e7532bb01c5/59778cc4a4f52.image.jpg?resize=300%2C400[/t] I was at a local store the day after and mentioned it, and the employees there were freaked out because they said they might have known him (if it was the same guy I was talking about). They said they've seen a guy with a kilt and ax come in to the business all the time but never threatened anyone Looks like it may have either been drugs or suicide-by-cop to me
Don't do folk metal, kids. Not even once.
He forgot to rally the clans
But was he a True Scotsman?
Reminds me of Bill and Ted's excellent adventure where Ghengis Khan gets chased by police in a department store. They brought a 13th Century scottish warrior into the future and he was terrified
But was he a True Scotsman?
No, he forgot the bagpipes
No, he forgot the bagpipes
Yeah, no true Scotsman would forgot his bagpipes when going on a raid in an enemy town.
Police used a Taser, but when that was not effective, two officers fired their guns, Durham said.
Holy shit, that's crazy. What kind of person doesn't go down after being tazed, much less when, odds are, the taser made contact on his bare chest.

For real, he was probably jacked up on something which can make you react less to things like tasers, and would also explain why the hell he was chasing cops with melee weapons.
A Richmond officer also was injured when he was struck in the vest by friendly fire
lmfao cops are idiots I wonder how many times they tried to taze him before deciding to straight up snuff him.
Now this is the kind of news I like to see; it's batshit crazy and even though someone died I'm sure he'll have a great time in Valhalla.
Holy shit, that's crazy. What kind of person doesn't go down after being tazed, much less when, odds are, the taser made contact on his bare chest.
"Not effective" might mean that both probes didn't break the skin
Why dont they use bean bags before killing him? These tasers seem to be very inaccurate. Might want to scrap or upgrade them.
Well, someone was gonna get kilt today, that's for sure.
Rip drag Jesus

You can be completely immune to tazers and many other suppression devices simly by being high on certain common drugs. A person ignoring being tazed is a very good indication that he's berserk on drugs. It would also explain why he was so aggressive. Sad way to go, but I can't really blame the cops for shooting him then.
No, he forgot the bagpipes
shoot on sight!
Also if you're really dehydrated tasers are much less effective
So what yer saying is if I take a bunch of meth and get blackout drunk I will be pain and tazer immune? Look out crime, for "Binge man" is coming... maybe i jus nee to shhhobert up.
lmfao cops are idiots I wonder how many times they tried to taze him before deciding to straight up snuff him.
probably once because it's a taser, they don't have multiple shots.
probably once because it's a taser, they don't have multiple shots.
Tasers are relatively easy and quick to reload, or hell you could fit em with something like the X2 which has 2 shots before having to reload.
Tasers are relatively easy and quick to reload, or hell you could fit em with something like the X2 which has 2 shots before having to reload.
Have you used one? They're not as easy to reload as you think they are. Specially if depending on what cartridge you are using they range between 15-25ft. That is pretty damn close if you are trying actively subdue someone who is armed.
You did this, Todd.

Would obviously be harder to reload during combat but still. Thanks for second guessing my competence at the subject though, I will treasure that box always.
