He's brought a present too, I guess.
Marvel Comics has revealed to ComicBook.com that the original Wolverine is making a comeback in the pages of Marvel Legacy #1, and he's packing one of the most powerful items in the Marvel Universe, an Infinity Stone!
"Yes, Logan is back from the dead," Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso tells ComicBook.com. "After three years of a Logan-free Marvel Universe, Logan is back, claws popped and ready for action. How he came back, why he came back, and just how he came into possession of that Infinity Stone are part of a fascinating story that's going to unveil soon, and in some unusual places."
Logan being in possession of that Infinity Stone seems likely to bring him to the attention of the Guardians of the Galaxy, who are now on the hunt for all of the Infinity Stones.
Wolverine has been dead since the events of the 2014 Death of Wolverine miniseries by Charles Soule and Steve McNiven. He was believed to have suffocated after being encased in hardened adamantium while stopping the plans of Doctor Abraham Cornelius, founder of the Weapon X program. Logan’s friends then had his body, adamantium shell and all, transported to a secluded cabin in the wilderness where he could rest.
Since his death his daughter Laura (X-23) took the Wolverine mantle, along with an alternate version of him from Mark Millar's "Old Man Logan" came over in 2015. Jean Gray is coming back in December and Professor Xavier is in the process of coming back in one of the current X-Men books.
is there a way someone can truly understand the Marvel Universe? this seems like news I hear every few months where X is back from the dead and is now going to do or have Y. It's just all over the place for me.
And here I thought they were just gonna settle with having Old Man Logan around
Nah let's just bring everyone back at once. I caved in and read the latest run of Astonishing X-Men and even fucking Charles looks like he's gonna come back soon. :vs:
So we got:
X-23, currently Wolverine.
Daken, Wolverines son who has been Wolverine.
Old Man Logan, Wolverine from a dystopian future.
Jimmy, Wolverines son from another world (but not the dystopian future of Old Man Logan) who has been Wolverine.
and Wolverine.
And Marvel wonders why their shit isnt selling. I mean theres a lot of reasons, obliterating the canon just a bit to really confuse people its just another one to add to the list.
Heroes don't make money if they're dead.
How long was he dead for? 2 years or so?
"We're not making enough money, dig up Logans corpse again."
"We're not making enough money, dig up Logans corpse again."
"The Inhumans failed, what the fuck are we gonna do"
"Uhh shit bring back Wolverine"
"But sir we already have 4 Wolverines"
"BRING HIM BACK"

Basically comics have no concrete continuity and are usually self-contained. Best case scenario their writer will adhere to their previous stories, but that's not always the case. Marvel at least embraces this idea by having a canon multiverse.
I just can't enjoy much Marvel anymore. Almost every decision made is transparently either pandering to the hip social media crowd or poking the unhinged forum crowd with a stick. The soul is gone.
I can appreciate DC better. Their events gleefully go full retard in every way possible. Dark Nights: Metal is about an evil Batgod from the Dark Multiverse (represented by flipping over a map of Grant Morrison's multiverse) trying to conquer reality, by infecting Batman with five super-rare elements including Batmanium. There isn't a whiff of social commentary, they're bringing in as many obscure characters as possible--from Swamp Thing to Neil Gaiman's Dream Of The Endless-- and it's being written by people who have a plan written out for them to work with.
Maybe I'll come back to Marvel for something other than Chris Hastings' Gwenpool, but not until their current stock of writers falls off a fucking cliff.

If it's ANY consolation the only comic series that actively are keeping Marveling "healthy" are the Star Wars comics.
I don't even fucking understand what Marvel is doing anymore. It seems like the come up with an idea and then don't even try to actually put any effort into it. Replacing Thor? Cool idea, manage to fuck it up by putting actually abysmal dialogue and then making the big reveal that female Thor is... someone who doesn't make sense and would have refused the powers. Or Secret Wars not making any fucking sense.
Then there is the Inhumans push which sits at the level of "Oh my god how are you morons this dumb". They basically killed the X-Men purposefully to push the Inhumans as they have the film rights to them, no one fucking gives a shit about the Inhumans except for like, one of them. Then they make a movie, which was downgraded into a series, then downgraded into a mini-series. Because they wanted to make it as cheaply and quickly as possible.
You morons spend all this time pushing them and when it comes time to actually cash in, you don't put any effort into it. At all. What the fuck?

I'm never gonna understand how all these things really qualify as news v:v:v
has there ever been a marvel/DC character that actually stayed dead forever?

Quesadilla's and Bendonk's current policy is hire anyone with gender or racial studies in their CV and throw anything against the wall until something sticks, and outraging fans is better than engaging them.
Literal actual current policy, there is no methodology or arc to it. Marvel is currently hemorrhaging money and talent, so the current plan is do whatever will generate current short terms sales of any kind.

Their answer is constant reboots because Issue #1's make a bunch of money before people realize that it's just the same nonsense and abandon the series afterward.

Easiest way to understand it is that no hero is dead forever, amd that they rehash shit when they run out of plot lines every few years.
Major comic book franchises are creatively bankrupt, which is why they keep reviving and killing main heroes. They also know new heroes dont sell comic books, only the same beat-to-death characters.

Depends on how popular they are or what niche they fill, theres quite a few.
Shit like this is why comic books suck. Theres never any real consequences to any problems they face.

Only in the big two and even then if an event is big enough it can leave permanent impacts.
IE the death of Jason Todd or The Night Gwen Stacy Died.
Spider-Man was like that for awhile too, growing as a character, until what i have to assume are literal manchildren threw shit fits over "not muh spidey" and made him make a deal with satan to turn him into an emotionally stunted manchild as well.
Wow! I did NOT see this coming. What a twist. Got me again Marvel.

Mar-Vell is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. And with Carol's movie coming up it's only a matter of time.
Marvel Entertainment issue isn't that they are hiring progressive people, it's that they are hiring pretty much anyone, especially if they are progressive. Then leave them to do whatever with almost no editorial oversight.
There is, and always have been, plenty of liberal comic book artists and writers. A lot of them are writing top selling DC and Image books right now. Marvel's just managed by people who don't understand basics of business or management.

Reminds me of how the writer for America regularly butchers Spanish so hard she's legitimately pissing off actual speakers of the language she apparently identifies with, and also seems to completely lack understanding of how light works.
I will always appreciate isolated stories in the form of graphic novels than I ever will appreciate serial comics. Mostly because of shit like this

I think ongoing stuff can work fine, the problem is being too afraid of making permanent changes to the status quo.
Hellboy is a good example.
Nothing says All-New, All-Different® like bringing all of your former stars back from the dead.

All-New All-Different ended ages ago, Marvel Now! (the 3rd one I think?) just ended and we are at Make Mine Marvel. In the same timespan DC went from whatever the post N52 was called to Rebirth.
