Woah.
EA has shut down Visceral Games, the studio behind games like Battlefield Hardline and Dead Space, the publisher said today. The Star Wars game in development at Visceral will be revamped and move to a different studio.
https://kotaku.com/ea-shuts-down-visceral-games-1819623990?IR=T
Activision and now this? Da fucks going on?!
Obligatory image about ea shooting a game dev studio in the head.
I'm surprised they lasted this long after disappointing sales from both Dead Space 3 and Battlefield Hardline. Definitely a shame nonetheless. Hopefully many of the employees find homes at other studios
EA cannibalizing yet another studio, what a surprise [editline]17th October 2017[/editline] I wish somebody would cannibalize their fucking execs
Activision and now this? Da fucks going on?!
Investors and board exec's wanting more money.
I also believe EA is wanting to solidify all it's developers into a single studio, or at least that's what I've heard one time.
Man, and I just played through Dead Space 2 a few weeks ago.
I also believe EA is wanting to solidify all it's developers into a single studio, or at least that's what I've heard one time.
Wouldn't be surprised. Why waste money on a multitude of developers when you can pick out the talent, kick out everyone else, and save $ while also giving the new team a raise to keep them hooked.
It's even worse for the unannounced Star Wars game, because the official statement reads something like: "It was going to be a single-player story focused game, but we're updating it to include current bullshit like loot boxes and games as a service."
I don't know how anyone can sell out to EA and not see this coming. The second you drop from being the absolute best of the best, even if you go down to just "okay" sales, any resources given to you are yanked and put into something more profitable, and you're out a job and the studio you put years' of effort into building.
EA GAMES - Close all the studios
All EA studios are on borrowed time.
Activision and now this? Da fucks going on?!
I've missed some news What's up with this?
So we use "games as a service" to cover up loot boxes and other content that isn't major DLC? A pity that EA closed the studio but after they butchered Dead Space 3 it was inevitable.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck EA
you fucking cuuuuunts Visceral deserved so much better
Man, and I just played through Dead Space 2 a few weeks ago.
I'm playing it right now, good times.Good times indeed.

i honestly don't know how EA keeps the lights on, i haven't seen anything from them in at least a decade that i wanted to buy and actually got released
I forgot Battlefield Hardline existed until this news article reminded me.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/tXjFJJO.png[/t] I had forgotten they were the team behind Agent Under Fire.
I like how Visceral made a pretty decent cop game, then had the game rebranded and reedited by EA with Battlefield logos and battlefield MP, and then got closed down because that game had awful sales lol.
Thanks for Dead Space 1 & 2 guys...
not surprised. they haven't made a noteworthy game since DS2 which was 6 years ago shame they couldn't have used their experience making DS1 and DS2 to make more thriller games
Future Cop: LAPD was probably the first game I was properly addicted to :v: Loved that thing.
After the disaster that was Dead Space 3, maybe it's for the best. Fuck EA.
So I'm guessing this means deadspace 4 is officially dead then? RIP
EA has dragged every good developer under it's flag into the gutter. I'm expecting them to destroy Respawn at some point too
Rest in pieces I meant literally since the employees will be transferred to other teams all over EA. and they made Dead Space guess we won't be seeing that logo anymore....
