Two South Australian teens charged with planning mass shooting and bomb attack on school

Police said the alleged attack could have led to multiple deaths.

One teenage boy, 16, has been charged with solicit to murder, and the second teen, 18, has been charged with four counts of aggravated counts of threatening to kill.

It is alleged the pair planned for the attack to take place between June 1 and November 7 this year.

Detective Superintendent Des Bray said the investigation, called Taskforce Murray, led to the arrest of the two teenagers earlier this month.

Both remain in custody and he said there was no risk to the community at this time.

"Since their arrest, police have conducted an extensive investigation of this matter which has included searches of several properties, the seizing of weapons, and interviews with dozens of people," he said.

"Police will allege that they intended to cause harm to a large number of people, however this plan was thwarted.

"There is no evidence to show that any other person was linked with this matter, nor did the two individuals have possession of firearms."

Detective Bray said police were working with a number of organisations during the investigation, including the Education Department and the school authorities.

A community forum was also held in Renmark recently in relation to the incident.

The offence of solicit to murder carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.[/quote]

There's a court ordered ban on naming the alleged planners or the school.

It should be the default in my opinion, but to some extent that's me not knowing it any differently.

The 16yo actually applied for bail and they refused it. I want to say "of course" but there's been some stupidity recently with bail and sentencing.

By the sounds of it one of them insinuated it towards another student. They were both charge with making threats to kill.
