BROWNSVILLE — The Cameron County District Attorney’s Office has a beef with one Juvenile Justice Department employee, alleging he stole $1.2 million worth of fajitas during the past nine years.
The Cameron County Juvenile Justice Department does not serve fajitas.
“If it wasn’t so serious, you’d think it was a Saturday Night Live skit. But this is the real thing,” District Attorney Luis V. Saenz said.
On Aug. 7, Gilberto Escamilla took a day off to go to a medical appointment. A driver from Labatt Food Service in Harlingen — the Juvenile Justice Department’s meat vendor — called the kitchen to inform it of an 800-pound delivery of fajitas.
The woman who answered the phone said the driver was mistaken, and that the kitchen did not serve fajitas. That was when the driver told her he had been delivering fajitas to the Juvenile Justice Department for the past nine years, Saenz said.
“The receiver of the call rushes off to the supervisor and conveys to her the discussion that had been had, and that breaks the case,” Saenz said.
“When Mr. Escamilla reports to work the next day, he is confronted with the discussion and he admits he had been stealing fajitas for nine years.”
Can't say I blame the man, fajitas are the shit
Sounds like a major lapse in oversight/management. These kinds of abuses will happen if you don't have checks. I think something similar happened at my campus' dining hall, where one of the employees was having the vendors ship them stuff and disguising it as school purchases, or something.
“He would literally, on the day he ordered them, deliver them to customers he had already lined up,” Saenz said. “We’ve been able to uncover two of his purchasers, and they are cooperating with the investigation."
He was reselling the fajitas for nine years. This makes it sound like drug dealing :v:
Why sell them? I'd be living off fajitas
I lived in Brownsville for three years, somehow I'm not surprised. For a city with such a nice zoo they really need to get their local government in order.

Never get high on your own supply.
God I love fajita seasoning!
When can we expect the Netflix original series
Finally my tax money is going to something I can support.
Because of this man

A grave crime was committed. No fajitas served for 9 years because one dude's reselling them :v:
Edit:
Like, did someone in the kitchen just wonder why they weren't serving fajitas anymore, and that was basically the end of that conversation?

I will pay to have Gilberto played by Pedro Pascall. The subscription I mean, till the series is finished unless it's a single season.

As far as I can tell, it wasn't that. It was more he exploited his authority and human laziness to get orders of fajitas approved for delivery, then picked up the order from the delivery person. The kitchens didn't know because they never serve fajitas, and the delivery person didn't know because they thought he was picking them up for the kitchen.

You got any more of them.... f-f-f-f-fajitas?!

You know, I have to know if buying possibly stolen fajitas somehow enhances the flavour. But just imagine the coded conversations.
I hope he made (and saved) enough on markup to pay the fine.
Nobody is asking the important question here, was it chicken or steak fajitas?
This is what presidential pardons exist for. Do the right thing, Don!
what a menace to society
lock him up for life
make him repay
fucker didnt even share
It's pretty amazing that a system could be so closed off where these people never talked to eachother for 9 years about it.
Give 'em the chair.
the perfect crime...
