Sex requests and obscene gestures 'the norm' for genuine Asian massage businesses
Men exposing their genitals and requesting sex has become the norm for Asian massage therapists who say they are being "tarred with the same brush" as illegal sex workers.
Thai and Chinese massage therapists report regular cases of sexual harassment despite clear signage stating that there are no sexual services.
A sign on the door at 'Yin's Chinese Traditional Massage' reads: "Keep your underwear all the time. Verbal, non-verbal and physical sexual harassment will not be tolerated."
Owner Chin Chun Li said illegal massage shops, which provide sexual services for extra money, had tainted the oriental massage sector.
"Competition is very strong so some places will do the extra service; they want to make more money, including the boss and the staff," he said.
More money for a 'happy ending'
"I can live in Sydney and do this business and make lots of money."
Mr Li said illegal shops were so common in cities that many Australians now associated oriental massage with sex.
He moved his business to Horsham, in regional Victoria, to escape the reputation.
"I just want to do the massage, to help the other people," he said.
"If your shoulder has problem, I can fix; you happy, I'm happy."
But even in the regional town he has had to phone security for assistance, when men have refused to believe the sign or accept that staff would not perform sexual services.
Meanwhile right across the road, western massage provider 'Ella Bache' has no need for a sign.
Why do people feel so entitled to a bj when there's a damn sign that warns you you're not getting a bj
Why do people feel so entitled to a bj when there's a damn sign that warns you you're not getting a bj
Without trying to sound like a stereotypical sjw, a lot of men in society today still hold sexist, patriarchal beliefs, and those same men believe in the stereotype that Asian women are supposedly very submissive and will do anything for money.
Those 'values' if you can call them that, are carried over from attitudes that dominated until the end of the 20th century. Eg it once wasn't unheard of for Australian men to slap young female receptionists on the ass, as if it were a normal thing.

Thats exactly what stereotypical sjw's say though.

I'd imagine most people would go "they have to have that sign up in case the cops come by, it doesn't apply to me".

Well there's definitely truth to it.
My friend went to China with his family. His Dad and himself decided to get a massage.
My friend couldn't read the sign, the masseuse points at different options and makes strange gestures that he can't interpret, so he just chose the most expensive option because, as he put it, "It must've been the best one."
Anyway, his Dad gets his massage and waits in the lobby for him. He's still getting his massage when the woman suddenly starts jerking him off.
Confused for a moment, it suddenly clicks with him that the gesture the woman made when pointing at the most expensive option was a handjob gesture.
The funniest part was that his Dad paid for it.
Yeah nah BF is right in that Australia has a bit of a problem with sexism and racism (I don't think it's too shocking to admit it).
The article kind of surprised me because I thought massage parlours that give wristies were legal in Sydney along with other brothels. Maybe if they try to keep it all under the table it's illegal?

The issue is a lot more complicated and has a lot more reasons for existing than just "men are sexist and hold patriarchal beliefs".
There's a Chinese massage place about 10 minutes from my house and we would always joke that it was a definitely brothel since the stereotype. Imagine my surprise when a friend sends a link to backpage advertising sex (with "fresh off the boat Asian women") with the exact same phone number as the massage business listed. I live in a fairly rural area, it makes me wonder who regularly attends in my town :v:.

i think this is the real question at hand. I mean isn't it rude not to in the culture.

At hand. I see what you did there.

It was the real question in her hand too

Yeah, "Some people are still sexist??" Whoa, slow down there with that redfem rhetoric, Triggered Tammy! No need to go all S.C.U.M. Manifesto on us!! You might as well just castrate all white men with extremest views like that!!!

It less has to do with societal beliefs or any patriarchal shit. Its simply that asian massage parlors developed the reputation for "happy endings" (where do you think that term comes from?) Whether or not that reputation is deserved, I don't know, but the reputation definitely exists and thats why men go there expecting prostitution.

Its a weird thought because prostitution is legal here. If you want to get jerked off, just go to, you know, the jerk off store.

It's a sexist problem when men go there expecting prostitution, but there are signs up saying they do not offer that, and yet they attempt to pressure the masseuse into providing those services anyways. And as the article mentions, security have had to be called in to remove men who demand sexual services and are refused, so obviously the customer has become uncooperative in those cases as if the masseuse has an obligation to provide a 'happy ending', as opposed to the customer acknowledging the misunderstanding.
The problem is so bad that Victorian Police are advocating for tougher criminal offences for offenders.

That is probably the first time I've heard of someone refer to a brothel as 'the jerk-off store'
a friend sends a link to backpage advertising sex
Boy, that's a pretty wacky story and- wait, why was your friend browsing for adult services on Backpage? And sending you links to them? And you cross referencing phone numbers with known prostitution establishments?
She continued for about 15 minutes until her arm was sore.
Better not of been too expensive then

or they just want their dick sucked and this is a stereotype they fell for

It sounds like you're forcing your warped views onto something as simple as "dumb guys think all asian massages have handjobs afterwards"
I feel like the term "sexism" is so meaningless now. It seems like any rude behavior from men towards women is just now called 'sexist' whether it has anything to do with real sexism or not.
How is it sexist for a guy to want to pay a woman for sexual favors? These men clearly don't think that all women ought to give sex for money. They specifically thought this sort of place would give sexual favors for money. Obviously, they were wrong, but how does that make it sexist?

You're staring into a puddle as if it were an ocean. Theres no sexist bigotry here; its a simple as horny men going to a place they assume offers sexual services. A sign on the door might be something they're required to put up, for all these buffoons know anyway.
The guys going to massage parlors are unjustifiable jackasses, but they're not sexist pigs or contributing to some patriarchal problem. They're just asshole retards, plain and simple.
Quit trying to construe this as if it were some kind of SJW issue.

Are you joking? That was seriously the dumbest two paragraphs I've read in a while.

Do you disagree? Is every guy who goes to a prostitute inherently sexist, even when totally legal?

It's almost as if that's objectification of women.

No, the problem is men going for a massage expecting to be jerked off because they're getting a massage from an asian woman. How can you be so dim?
