• Japan is having a shortage of Ninjas
Japan is suffering a severe shortage of its legendary ninja warriors. The nation's booming inbound tourism market has led to the creation of dozens of ninja-themed attractions, theme parks and restaurants across the country, meaning that some are finding it difficult to attract ninja with even the most basic skills. Those skills include an adeptness with "shuriken" - throwing stars - and swords, as well as training in unarmed combat, acrobatics, concealment and first aid. "With the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan on the increase, the value of ninja as tourism content has increased", Takatsugu Aoki, manager of the ninja squad for Nagoya-based advertising agency Sankosha Co., told the Asahi newspaper. "There are more employment choices, while ninja shows across the country have become popular", he said. "I feel there is a ninja shortage". The dearth of ninja is in sharp contrast to 2016, when more than 230 people from around the world answered an advertisement for a one-year contract with the Tokugawa Ieyasu and Hattori Hanzo Ninja Squad.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/02/ninjas-wanted-japan-struggles-meet-tourist-demand-amid-warrior/
We must send in the American Ninja Warriors.
The 80s took a horrible toll on the native ninja populations. Sad to see such an elegant species going extinct due to over-hunting. I thought we were past that!
We must send in the American Ninja Warriors.
So the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
Maybe the US should export teenage neckbeards with their cheap ostesibly katana-shaped steel bars. Not like the tourists would know the difference. [editline]8th May 2017[/editline] Might even solve the train groping problem since they'd be too shy to actually touch a woman.
Are there less ninjas, or through modern technology have they gotten so much better at their jobs that we can't see them anymore?
good thing this exists http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ConservationOfNinjutsu
To me the obvious answer are robot ninjas. Automatons modelled after assassins, armed with bladed weaponry and built for agility and acrobatics. What could go wrong?
Finally, we shall end the reign of our hated foe. The Age of Piracy shall begin anew. Those scurvy dogs never had a chance.
There actually are a ton of ninjas. They're just so skilled at not being seen that people think there is a shortage.
I wonder if there is some ancient order of assassins in Japan, or if they just use freelance contemporary hitmen. I really doubt there is any point to having actual ninjas any more.
good thing this exists http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ConservationOfNinjutsu
And thus with this link the rest of my day was lost
Tokugawa Ieyasu and Hattori Hanzo
How recently relevant...

Maybe if you'd keep them alive- they need more healing.
There isn't a shortage, they just couldn't find them.
So the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III kinda ruined that relationship.
I volunteer!
I just saw this on Youtube :v:
