As of 13:00 on Tuesday, 470 of the fast-food chain's 900 outlets in its UK-based division were shut. That compares with 575 that were closed at 21:00 on Monday. Last week, the fried chicken chain switched its delivery contract to DHL, which has blamed "operational issues" for the supply disruption.

What caused the problems? Until 13 February, KFC's chicken was delivered by specialist food distribution group Bidvest. But after the contract switched to DHL, many of the food giant's outlets began running out of chicken products. The GMB union said it had tried to warn KFC that switching from Bidvest to DHL was a mistake. The change led to 255 job losses and the closure of a Bidvest depot, said Mick Rix, GMB national officer. He said: "Bidvest are specialists - a food distribution firm with years of experience. DHL are scratching around for any work they can get, and undercut them. "KFC are left with hundreds of restaurants closed while DHL try and run the whole operation out of one distribution centre. Three weeks ago, KFC knew they had made a terrible mistake, but by then it was too late.
Independent BBC Can confirm, every KFC in my county is closed due to delivery issues. Yet ANOTHER case of a big name brand undercutting the competition then utterly failing to deliver (pun intended) the service promised.
Why you shouldn't always go for the lowest bidder
That note goes so easy on DHL it makes me wonder whether KFC execs are being held hostage Literally 50% of the business has to shut down = "a couple of teething problems" Internationally recognised logistics company fucking up basic shit = "getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants is pretty complex! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"
DHL handle all the logistics for the company I work for. This doesn't surprise me. They tried to deliver something we'd ordered to a factory that doesn't exist anymore last week.
I feel really petty saying this but the KFC that is in my ex's town shut down, and it was right next to her work place and it was her favourite place. i am a little too happy ngl, suck it
oh no... stay safe fellow uk fpers, the riots should start soon

All of a sudden that tweet that was posted on r/London makes sense. [t]https://i.redd.it/7p5f5unr1eh01.jpg[/t] Yes, it's real.
That's pretty petty my dude.
yeah, that was a pretty harsh statement my apologies. i don't truly believe it's good or anything. by any means, i feel awful for the residents of said town (and UK). i think it was more or less a poke that did not sit well. apolgies.
Another reason why your local places are better than a big commercial entity. And on that note, support your local chicken shop.
what the FUCK
Dude you can fry anything.
what the FUCK
Oh you sweet summer child, you can fry anything. Even butter: But what is an improvement and one of the surprisingly best deep fried things ever, Deep Fried Mars Bars. The Scottish have pioneered deep frying everything they can get their hands on, the mad bastards.
And like that my last shred of innocence was lost... It was nice knowing you
Like ordering a salad at McDonalds
Most of it is lip service anyway, but I see the availability of salads and healthfood in fast food joints as a way for folks who are trying to lose weight not just get fucked over entirely while still being social with their mates. Kind of like how there are sodas at bars that aren't mixers - that one teetotaler isn't shafted for wanting to hang with his mates at the pub.
Is KFC in the UK better than in the US? Because KFC is fucking garbage here. Popeyes is better in every single facet, while KFC gives me genuine discomfort from actually walking into the store to the food itself.
this boy must have been pissed [sp]he's actually 24[/sp]
Is KFC in the UK better than in the US? Because KFC is fucking garbage here. Like India, for example - my ex was an American and she refused to believe me until I took her to one and it blew her mind because it tasted like how it used to when she was a kid. It's still overpriced as fuck, though, but atleast it's not oily sadness like how it was in the US when I visited one. :frown:
Is KFC in the UK better than in the US? Because KFC is fucking garbage here. Popeyes is better in every single facet, while KFC gives me genuine discomfort from actually walking into the store to the food itself.
I knew a guy who worked at a kfc in the US and he admitted that their store regularly would just wank, spit or otherwise put shit into the food. Like, even the manager did it too. He said it was the most bizzare, disgusting store he had ever been in. Shit was never clean, etc. And apparently that's pretty common for KFC, they're ranked second only to Taco Cabana as the most filthy fast food places in the US. Compared to the UK, here KFC is just an overpriced place with okay chicken. Not bad but tbh Tesco has stronger chicken game.

Popeyes is better in every single facet, while KFC gives me genuine discomfort from actually walking into the store to the food itself.
it's one of my favourites to go to because the boneless banquet meal just hits all the right spots for me, but like any fast food chain you have some restaurants where the service and food is dogshite and others where it's great. i'd go more often if there were actually any in my local area :frown: also their gravy game is on point
Hot wings and the mini fillets are still great. The normal pieces are usually dry oily garbage.
Fuck KFC anyway, I have two local KFCs and both are garbage, no customer service and garbage food and incorrect order guaranteed.

Funnily enough though, I'm pretty near the birthplace of the Deep Fried Mars Bar and I've never tried one.
what the FUCK
Dude, don't knock battered/tempura veggies till you've tried them. Shit's good.

Its quite interesting hearing how different stores operate differently in other countries. The KFC here is a huge conglomerate. Everything is owned by them from Manufacturing to Logistics. The logistics division is so huge that it's now a profit company with other restaurant using their services for supply.
