The story is told largely from the points of view of Escobar, played by Brazilian actor Wagner Moura, and U.S. DEA Agent Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook), on opposite sides of what would become an all-out war. The acting is amazing and it's extremely well shot. Definitely one of the best shows out right now, probably my favourite Netflix Original
It's amazing, but I can understand how many people might have an issue with the paradocumental style. Not the Goodfellas-like narration, but the rest. I'm not a fan either, but the acting and music makes it out for me.
Just finished watching season 1. Wow, it's incredible.
Great show, but Pablo inhales his cigarette in a really obnoxious way
Great show, but Pablo inhales his cigarette in a really obnoxious way
He's smoking pot.
I remember seeing a trailer for this and being pretty excited for it. I'm glad to hear it's really good.
He's smoking pot.
He does it with cigarettes too
Almost binged this show in one sitting, it was that good. My only complaint is that[sp]the ending was sort of abrupt, leaving me to wonder if there is going to be a second season[/sp]. EDIT: I am aware that Pablo died in real life
There is supposed to be a second season. Not surprised that this is the same director as Elite Squad.
EDIT: [sp]I am aware that Pablo died in real life[/sp]
I know this is supposed to be a general knowledge, but it's a future spoiler nonetheless.
pablo's actor needs to work on his colombian accent
pablo's actor needs to work on his colombian accent
Actor is Brazilian iirc. Maybe they just assumed most audiences can't tell the difference.
I can't tell the difference, they all speak mexican to me.
one of the interesting post on this site and i really like it. (User was permabanned for this post ("spam" - Swebonny))
Just watched the first episode, it was absolutely fantastic. [editline]4th September 2015[/editline] Obviously the only real way to watch it is in Spanish with English subtitles
Just finished binge watching season 1. Man, this is the best show I have seen in a long time. Can't wait for season 2.
I really, really like Moura's performance of pablo Its a perfect example of minimalist acting. Nothing is ever melodramatic and he's never trying to ape scarface as many actors are wont to do when portraying kingpins I see a lot of people harping about a Brazilian playing a Colombian, but it always strikes me as people trying really hard to seem more cultured than they actually are. Man i guarantee 99% of the people watching this show didn't have a fucking clue until they went online and read about it.
Finished the first episode and moving right on to the second. Fuck, this is good.
this show is pretty great
Just finished watching it in one sitting, amazing show. I enjoyed seeing Oberyn Martell in a different show, he played his character well. I would have honestly preferred if he was the main cop instead of Murphy.
this show is pretty great
pretty great? it's one of the good ones. [editline]7th September 2015[/editline] Also, I like it how they basically [sp]smoke pot[/sp] all the time in the series. :v:
I liked Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy, how does this compare?
I liked Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy, how does this compare?
better, but shorter
I liked Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy, how does this compare?
http://sonsofanarchy.wikia.com/wiki/Elliott_Oswald from sons is in it, and he plays his role well if thats any motivation. It's pretty good, and due to it all being based on what actually happened its honestly a lot more interesting than breaking bad/sons. The fact this huge drug overlord actually existed and did all of these actions is insane. It has a good mix of action, sex, and great acting. Netflix's best show imo(this and house of cards)
Fantastic show! Acting is really good and it's nice to see Pedro Pascal in something else after Game of Thrones, he was awesome in that. I knew I recognised the actor that plays Pablo from something but I couldn't place it. He's Spider in Elysium.
the last time i watched a tv show was BB, and I loved it. I hear nothing but great things about this show, I think I may watch it later.
the last time i watched a tv show was BB, and I loved it. just started watching this, it's really really good as for wagner's colombian accent, it's better than i expected? it's a bit off in a few lines and unfortunately those are the lines that are in the trailer, but you can see he's doing his best if you watch the show and know what the accent is supposed to sound like, and either way it doesn't detract much from the show, his acting definitely makes up for it
Just finished this. The acting was fantastic and I can't wait until the next season, but I'm kind of disappointed at how it ended. [sp]Pablo left La Catedral in 1992 and died a year later. They don't really leave a whole lot of room for new seasons. They really should have ended with either him announcing his plan for building his own prison or him starting his sentence. There's all sorts of crazy stuff that he did while he was there that they could have used in Season 2.[/sp] But that's a moot point now, isn't it? Anyway, I loved it.

Do the above, but for roughly half the season then expand into the other cartel. The show could easily transition to other drug smugglers and cartels, it could be pretty interesting if done correctly.
