“War has destroyed life as we know it. The Apocalypse is at hand! Will you fight for justice to stop the chaos or will you join in the ranks of evil to bring upon the ultimate destruction of the earth?”
Hello Fellow Gamers,
Xsyon is a Fantasy Sandbox MMORPG developed by Notorious Games. We’re currently running free trials so that any and all can experience the game world that is Xsyon; I provide everything at the bottom of this post to get you started and playing on the trial server. As a player you’ll start off in a post-apocalyptic setting in the Lake Tahoe area, this is where civilization has begun anew. Lake Tahoe is an alpine lake nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountain range along the California and Nevada border. This location provides a wilderness setting with few traces of modern civilization as a clean slate for the first settlers of Xsyon to construct their world.
Everyone is a hero in Xsyon. Your character begins with decent base statistics but is unskilled an untrained. In time your character will gain knowledge and develop the crafts and skills to flourish in this new world. There is well over 800+ craft able items in the game world that the players can create from architecture, armor, weapons, tools, and useable decorative items. There are several crafts the player can learn and use and here are a few: architecture, basketry, masonry, leathercraft, bonecraft, tailoring, toolcraft, wainwright, woodcraft, and weaponcraft. You the player, acquire the materials needed for these crafts from resource gathering on the game world terrain or by scavenging on scrap piles left from the past civilization. Players are able to cut down trees for lumber and gather seeds from these trees to replant and sustain their resources. Resources are constantly changing and can be depleted and renewed over time, not all resources can be found in one area which promotes the players to travel to different regions to find the resources they need. Carts are a major asset in Xsyon; they can be used to move resources and materials around tribe and the game world or to store items for later use.
Terraforming is one of Xsyon's unique and exciting features. Players can shape the land in useful and creative ways. They can lay foundations for their towns or sculpt the landscape as terraforming artists. You can raise, lower, level the terrain, dig ditches to channel water from a lake or river, or even build roads to increase movement speed from resources or between other tribes.
Xsyon features a flexible, manually controlled combat system. Targeting is based on player angles and swing directions. You can switch between held attacks and parries for quick shifting between attack and defense. The world is open to free combat with the exception of tribe zones, you can fully loot other players.
The Xsyon world is populated by many creatures that can be hunted or can hunt the players; these creatures are based off local wildlife of the Lake Tahoe area. Creatures grow in size as they age and grow powerful as they kill players, presenting a challenge even for the most skilled and well geared players. Creatures can turn in to mutants that can surpass there normal counterparts in health and damage done during combat, creating a hazardous atmosphere for the player. Creatures migrate as they grow in power to more dangerous zones from low, medium, high, and extreme danger areas. The smaller creatures can be found in all danger areas “mostly low danger” but the larger beasts will migrate to those higher danger areas. Creatures possess realistic loot, which means they can be skinned, gutted and deboned to provide useful materials for crafting.
Xsyon is a social game and interaction with other players is important for survival. Xsyon provides various chat channels and methods for players to exchange goods and communicate. There are chat tabs players can customize to display only what they want from global, local, private, and tribal chat.
Life in Xsyon revolves around player created Tribes. Players can develop small homesteads and play solo or band together to form larger tribes. Players will find the need to interact with others to survive and thrive in this newly formed world. Tribes give increased stats which help with crafting white on tribal land. Tribes provide a safe non-pvp zone for tribe members to store their items without fear of losing them. Players can set ranks for members that give them different roles and access throughout the tribe land; tribes also increase in size based on members. You can also setup quests for other players in the world to complete and collect the reward you set for the task.
The Xsyon Guide Team runs regular events and contests to bring the player community together and provide memorable experiences. Minor spontaneous events are running during the week with planned announced events on weekends.
While trials are running you can experience the game for free and the trial server is an exact copy of the main game world that paying customers play on. All you have to do is create an account on the main site, download the game, and start playing. This is completely free; there is no need for a credit card or any payment unless you choose to buy the game. The trial server is reset each Monday of every week; this allows you to experience the game without paying.

Haven't there been like, ten of these threads by now?

Yeah, something's up. But they're all separate people, the accounts have nothing in common. Probably the devs asked the community to advertise for them
I've seen this game. Progress is extremely slow (like Wurm Online slow) and they're trying to get people to buy copies so they can play the beta. (more like an alpha but don't say that on the forums, you'll get your hair pulled out by the keyboard-smashing monkeys there known as "beta-testers")
Anyway this game is shit. Might be good someday but that day is definitely not today.
I've been playing for well over a year and I can honestly say the development is a lot faster in many aspects compared to wurm. I wouldn't compare this game to wurm as I can't even seem to play that game without bugs or low fps just ruining it for me and the server lag that seems to be plaguing everyone lately.
I've seen a lot of things added since beta and I'm not sure about your post and what you say. There is a free trial, don't like it? Don't play it. It's as simple as that.
The game has all of the same features as Wurm in many respects but I'm not waiting on animations, two story houses, or visible armor in Xsyon as it already has all that. That is one of the main reasons I gave Xsyon a try is because Wurm has stagnated it seems and I don't see a java based mmorpg getting all the fancy bells and whistles that a C++ designed game can and will. They have a kickstarter that is supposed to take place soon, which means more devs can be added to the team and a lot more can get added content wise but for a Indie game I think they have done quite well and crank out updates just about every month. I give them props there.
