The Lelux Hospital, renowned for its body whitening expertise in a country obsessed with skin colour, began offering the unconventional treatment six months ago after a male customer complained of "dark parts" on his groin. "These days a lot of people are asking about it. We get around 100 clients a month, three to four clients a day," Bunthita Wattanasiri, a manager for the Skin and Laser department at Lelux Hospital told AFP. The procedure, which uses laser whitening, got wide play on Thai television and social media on Thursday (Jan 4) after the hospital released images of a man undergoing the treatment. "We have to be careful because it's a sensitive part of the body," Bunthita said, adding most clients were aged between 22 and 55-years-old with many from Thailand's LGBT community.

alarmed by the phallic fad.
Someone decided to have fun with this article.
What's so witty about that?
I actually can't find any image results for this, I'm legitimately curious as to what this could even mean. Wouldn't it just make your dick the same color as the rest of your body while flaccid, which would make it look really fucking weird when it was erect? Maybe I'm over thinking this but this whole concept doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense
most asians here have darker penises than their body, its the only reason this is a fad
That's completely normal.
most asians here have darker penises than their body, its the only reason this is a fad
Literally everyone does, though, that's because the skin is looser.
Conveniently, this video from Vox came out earlier today
What's so witty about that?
Alliteration
Alliteration
Yes I noticed, but that seems far from "having fun with the article" and more like an coincidence if there's nothing more to that phrase.
Wait, I can be even WHITER? I'm already so pale the sun reflecting off my skin is blinding but now I can go in to full on ghost territory? Sign me up
Wait, Thailand is obsessed with skin color? Why?
Yes I noticed, but that seems far from "having fun with the article" and more like an coincidence if there's nothing more to that phrase.
Not a chance that was a coincidence, no chance the writer didn't notice and keep it on purpose
Isnt it that female porn stars were doing this a long time ago?
Wait, Thailand is obsessed with skin color? Why?
Darker skin is associated with poor farming communities like the isaan region
A lot of Asians just think lighter skin is more attractive. There probably are subconscious social reasons like people who have lighter skin arent working hard labour who usually get tanned due to working outside a lot but most people I know just think its more attractive
The cosmetics/cosmetic surgery industry is Korea tier but it's not limited to that, anything to do with the face concept is pretty prevalent [editline]5th January 2018[/editline]
Isnt it that female porn stars were doing this a long time ago?
You can shoot laser's into your vag to make it tighter, is that what your thinking of?
communities like tumblr are gonna blow up over this
communities like tumblr are gonna blow up over this
Skin whitening being a problem is pretty well established. This isn't anything new.
Isnt it that female porn stars were doing this a long time ago?
Maybe you're talking about butt bleaching?
Skin whitening being a problem is pretty well established. This isn't anything new.
why is skin whitening a problem? it doesn't seem much different than tanning in terms of goal
why is skin whitening a problem? it doesn't seem much different than tanning in terms of goal
Many of the methods employed are quite harmful to the body and fuck up people's skin really badly. People also raise issue with the idea that whiter is being promoted as being more beautiful.
Many of the methods employed are quite harmful to the body and fuck up people's skin really badly. People also raise issue with the idea that whiter is being promoted as being more beautiful.
Unless they're talking tanning via sun/booth.
Wait, Thailand is obsessed with skin color? Why?
The same reason India is. Poor and therefore not successful people have to work in the sun and do stuff Rich and therefore successful people don't, hence they are sexier by default.
My dick's skin is darker and it looks amazing Wish I could get a tan that resembles not being bloodless like my usual skin does
why is skin whitening a problem? it doesn't seem much different than tanning in terms of goal
Both cause damage to your skin, it's just that tanning has become more "commonplace" in western societies, so people tend to ignore the health repercussions of sitting yourself in the sun for hours without protection, or putting yourself in a tanning bed. A lot of skin whitening chemicals are either toxic, carcinogenic, or sometimes both. Mixtures that aren't are usually very expensive or don't have the effect that people who seek "skin whitening" are looking for.
People also raise issue with the idea that whiter is being promoted as being more beautiful.
it's kinda odd to me why that's a problem. do those same people have no problem with the idea that tan skin is being promoted as being more beautiful? I think it's hypocritical if so and that it's also a very western-centric view. in general, people in east and south asia have preferred fairer skin long before contact with the west and I think it's kinda silly to apply western views to other areas. it's kinda funny to me how white people want to be more tan and tan people want to be more white. feels like what's considered beautiful is what people aren't

People also raise issue with the idea that whiter is being promoted as being more beautiful.
No, it's not being 'whiter', it's being more pale. As in the opposite of tan, which is something a fuckton of people do because they think being tan looks good. And either way, what's wrong with it? Some people like the way Black people look, some people like the way Asians look. Why is it an issue if they like the way White people look?

And either way, what's wrong with it? Some people like the way Black people look, some people like the way Asians look. Why is it an issue if they like the way White people look?
It's more about the whiteness as an indication of higher class than just a simple aesthetic choice. Also, really tough for you to get born with dark skin, you're probably gonna be miserable about it for the rest of your life as you spend your money on whitening creams to pretend to be like the airbrushed starlettes on TV. It's not just a matter of taste regarding skin colour.
Earth: where it's racist to make yourself whiter but perfectly normal to make yourself darker
Tanning isn't the same as blackface. Whitening is essentially reverse blackface, you pretend to have a different skin colour to be more worthy. The issue isn't about racism though, it's just some bizarre class thing.
