Ellam ranted about President Donald Trump and one percenters, shouting, “Death to the world order,” before setting himself on fire. The disturbingly graphic video lasts about two minutes and 30 seconds and opens with an apparently naked Ellam driving his car toward the hospital calling out Trump, the Illuminati and several times referring to himself as Jesus Christ. Ellam was severely burned after lighting himself on fire following the car crash. The video doesn’t show Ellam actually lighting himself on fire but he can be heard yelling “save me” as flames fill the screen. FBI officials uncovered the video in their investigation to figure out why Ellam did it. Ellam, 27, was flown to the burn center at Bridgeport Hospital with burns on as much as 90 percent of his body, sources said. The video opens with Ellam saying “Donald Trump where are you? My name is Jesus Christ. I’m in Middletown, Connecticut.” As he drives toward the hospital Ellam says, “I’ve come to expose you as the anti-Christ, protecting the Illuminati, the one percent.” As Ellam is speaking a radio is on in the background and cars can be seen passing him. “The one percent have been trying to brainwash me to attack the police for I don’t know how long,” Ellam says in an eerily calm voice. “I know that you are, you are their protector and I am going to attack one of your headquarters right now – Middlesex Hospital. Death to the Illuminati, death to the world order, the world order is Jesus Christ.” Ellam then stops talking as he drives toward the hospital, he them abruptly turns the vehicle and crashes into the emergency room entrance. After the crash Ellam is seen exiting the car and leaving the site line of the camera. But he can be heard yelling “death to the new world order” before flames erupt, filling the screen. Ellam can be heard screaming as the flames intensify. He then says “Jesus, Jesus” and “save me, save me” before it ends. Ellam lives at 66 Milardo Lane, where federal, state and local authorities went to search for explosives and other evidence, officials said, as concerned neighbors looked on. Sources said no explosives were found at the house. “This is a precautionary measure,” Mayor Dan Drew said at an afternoon press conference. About 10 a.m., Ellam crashed his Chevrolet Cobalt through the emergency room entrance doors of the hospital at 28 Crescent St., then doused himself in a liquid and ignited himself, said Police Chief William McKenna. In a different video shared with The Courant by a witness, smoke and flames can be seen billowing out of the emergency entrance as medical staff rush to help Ellam, who is on the sidewalk, outside the doors. The fire prompted an extensive response from city firefighters and police. Ellam was flown by Life Star helicopter to Bridgeport Hospital, but officials said they did not know his condition as of Thursday evening. Bomb squads from Hartford and state police converged on the hospital and searched the car, finding cans with flammable liquid inside, Drew said. The liquids were sent to the state forensic lab for testing. Sources said it is believed to be gasoline. The inside of the car was completely destroyed. Sources said police also found some sort of spray device similar to one used to spray weeds in the car although it is unclear what if anything he planned to do with it. Officials said Ellam’s act was intentional, but said late Thursday that they could not yet comment on a motive. When asked if it was an act of terrorism, Drew declined to comment.
I don't think this was very effective in doing anything but maiming him. It probably grew attention to whatever he wanted his cause was maybe, but still I think it caused him more pain than anything.
This isn't a Monk setting himself on fire and making a point, this is someone who dislikes Trump, decides to crash into a Hospital like a jackass and then proceed to set himself on fire while asking people to save him, if he wanted to get the point across properly, he wouldn't have fucking done the aforementioned stupid shit.
I don't think he had a point either, this guy believes in the Illuminati and believed himself to be Jesus, he was definitely not right in the head. Just another example of poor mental health care.
could've sworn this article is old. I remember reading something very similar to this
so he crashed into a hospital... and went to set himself on fire... to increase his chances of living and getting his message out? what?
If he's screaming illuminati while setting himself on fire I'd be inclined to think he's not mentally stable at all. Poor guy needed therapy and mental help, but it festered and grew too far.
could've sworn this article is old. I remember reading something very similar to this
I’m pretty sure it was recent. My step mother, who is a nurse (not at this hospital but at one a couple towns over), was telling me about it a couple days ago. Crazy stuff.
I've had delusions similar to this guy, but nowhere near on this scale. I think he needs counselling and showing that the world isnt what he thinks it is
so he crashed into a hospital... and went to set himself on fire... to increase his chances of living and getting his message out? what?
You can't use logic in order to understand crazy, you'll just drive yourself mad
