Except the video games! Content: I bought a bunch of sets today and will be building them throughout the week. I usually end up modifying standard sets if I think they did something shit [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/IyFnA6G.jpg[/thumb] Example; I got set 70592 a while ago because I am a HUGE sucker for giant robot sets. Standard it comes with a lame landspeeder type vehicle on its back. However I thought it'd be cooler to give it an ejector seat type thing. I thought it'd be a quick 5 minute thing but ended up spending quite a while essentially rebuilding the entire torso, mostly because I wanted to limit myself to not using any extra pieces, just what came with the set. It's a bit shit, with the back being super hollow looking. I'm probably going to end up cannibalizing it soon along with a nexo-night set to make my own, super junky looking mech. MY CHILDHOOD I was obsessed mainly with all of the Technic sets because I loved the gears and the ability to move things. I think I had about 10 sets. Other than that, my brother and I were gifted sets from a bunch of themes. All of which ended up as individual pieces floating around a giant plastic bin. I still have all of them somewhere. My favorite thing to see was working engines and assembly lines being built from the older air piston system.
Oooh, been wondering if a thread like this would finally crop up in GD or Creationism Corner. I've been making MOCs off and on for a few years now, though I've been pretty much only posting them on Flickr as part of the Lego community on that site. Some examples of my stuff: [t]https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2865/33247228172_47fae80cf0_k.jpg[/t] ^A build I actually just made this month of a Think Tank [t]https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1481/24528832711_fce42d67f1_h.jpg[/t] ^Landmate-style police mecha [t]https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1643/24608049246_f9aa11b3bf_h.jpg[/t] ^A quadruped drone from the short VFX film 'Keloid' by Big Lazy Robot [t]https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1507/23753469664_8fa531de64_h.jpg[/t] ^Minifig-scale infantry drone/bot [t]https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1580/24321754915_b3e8441e78_h.jpg[/t] ^Urban pacification and electronic warfare mech If it's not painfully evident by now, I'm really into mecha and cyberpunk when I build.
^that's some serious creative use pieces, especially that mini-fig scale robot. Would never think to use minifig legs like that.
I used to teach Lego Robotics to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade kids using the old Lego Mindstorms and EV3 kits. I wish I would've kept the one they gave me to use for those three years. Those are great ways to start learning coding and programming as well as engineering. I think the kits are like $200-300? Definitely worth it if you're into Robotics. You can make some wacky shit with em.
[thumb]http://imgur.com/XJAB0Ld.png[/thumb] THE GREATEST VILLAINS EVER, CALENDER MAN AND KITE MAN! I didn't like the movie much but the fact that there is now officially licensed mass produced merchandise for these obscure dorks is hilarious to me.
God, i used to be really involved with the online lego communities on mocpages and flickr. On flickr we were all kinda dicks though. I'll have to find some pics of the shit I used to build

Oh, cool, Lego thread. I've started collecting modulars lately. I've got the Palace Cinema so far, and it's a fantastic build. I highly recommend it. I'll post a picture of my Lego shelf tomorrow.
Now THIS is a good thread idea! One of these weekends I should dig out my twenty something year old collection.
Now THIS is a good thread idea! One of these weekends I should dig out my twenty something year old collection.
Please do! Especially if you have old space themes! I loved the 90s UFO/Exploriens sets, and generally the space themes in general from that era. As much as I love building/displaying star wars sets I hate how its basically 100% replaced the OG LEGO space themes :(
I got the lantern as part of one of the sets I posted earlier and I really liked it, but thought their implementation sucked. I wanted to make a robot utilizing it, because robots are awesome, it went through many different stages but I ended up with this. The flamethrower was a late addition, but fitting because of the lantern I guess. So here it is, a ninjago themed flamethrower robot. [thumb]http://imgur.com/2CRsFjJ.png[/thumb] Cool grabby shot. Here's an older cross post: [t]http://i.imgur.com/A8OWiNr.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/K0LcFp1.jpg?1[/t] Been designing, modeling, and 3D printing some custom accessories. Above is an Anglo-Saxon / Viking sword.

Oh shit, Lego's for life, me and my brother inherited some of the really old 60s lego sets from my dad and I still have my complete Lego Mindstorms kit (Debating what to build with it now. Is stop motion accepted? I used to make a few crappy stop motion videos years ago (And a from-scratch Halo Warthog): I'll dig around to see if I can find some more of my old robots and builds.
We visited a few factories around Nyíregyháza with my uni last year and one of those was the Lego plant. Actually there are only four countries where Lego is manufactured, and Duplo is only made here (that means moulding, decorating and packaging done on site, so basically the whole process). [t]http://i.imgur.com/fSsykNX.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/sYVDNpf.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/ruNZRu0.jpg[/t] We were not really allowed to take pictures inside, but I can tell that this is the most spacious factory I've visited. Only the machines are on the workfloor, the conveyor belts are hidden on a separate floor above. [t]http://static1.architectforum.hu/files2012/n00/02/63/21/lego-113.jpg[/t][t]http://mork.nyugat.hu/Scopes/nyugat2015/var//improxy/NyugatWXGAPicture/12/43/124350_novekedesi_hormonnal_taplalt_epitoelemek_az_utja.jpg[/t][t]http://m.cdn.blog.hu/kl/klikk/image/gy%C3%A1ras%20k%C3%A9szlet.jpg[/t] Also some manufacturing lines are separated by huge blocks of Duplo, the plant has its own bus station, and there is an employee-only store in it where they can buy sets from all around the world (at a discounted price). Had the chance to talk to a manager there, he told us some interesting bits like US customers prefer to see the product so they put way more plastic windows on the boxes, and how the leadership in Denmark did not understand why one would need to put fences around this plant (northeastern Hungary is not exactly the richest part of the country). Also we all got a Duplo snail at the end.
From January 2012: A Sopwith Camel From January 2010: A Steampunk cannon/tank thing. I really gotta get back into it tbh
I don't have much time to build these days, but I made this teeny tiny starfighter thing a few years back [t]http://i.imgur.com/c1r6yy0.jpg[/t] Also made this weird little mech thingy [t]http://i.imgur.com/0rF5dxb.jpg[/t]

I have this habit of fiddling around with my legos while watching a movie or a stream. Sometimes it results in cool stuff [t]http://i.imgur.com/3wDWcwg.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/uy9sR6h.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/JKPKAQG.jpg[/t] Oh, and have these two metal gear-inspired walkers from 2015 [t]http://i.imgur.com/2HqSE3N.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/nhDfb86.png[/t]

Holy shit, I wasn't expecting a LEGO Thread in here! That's what I get for not checking the other sub-forums... Speaking of which, I just posted today a Nexo-Knights version of a Tachikoma: [t]http://i.imgur.com/0WAy5Ap.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/v6Hi0hc.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/nhWqeKS.jpg[/t] I can't wait to share my other creations with you guys!

I figured I really had to add to here. fucking love me some lego technic Please ignore the arts and crafts. I've always wanted to make my own technic 6x6 truck. I'm making incredibly slow progress. I want pneumatic steering because its stronger then rack/pinion, I have locking diffs that will also be pneumatic, the diffs are also driven on both sides for strength otherwise the gears slip. Not my stuff, but alot of inspiration for me when I was big into Lego Mindstorms: Also this monster of a build:
Not my stuff, but alot of inspiration for me when I was big into Lego Mindstorms:
People make some crazy stuff with mindstorms. If you're into Technic, check out, sheepo.es and sairel.pl they make crazy shit.
It's been a long while since I had enough spare lego to build anything of my own but I've been collecting the Star Wars lego sets since Christmas 2015. I got the X-Wing as a present, but since then it's gotten a little out of control to say the least. The Sandcrawler's next on my list, but the Y-Wing looks pretty nice. It's interesting how Lego occasionally releases sets with slight differences depending on the region, the sets on the left are for the NA market, while the ones on the right are for the EU. INCLUDES FIRING ACTION! [t]https://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/SL/7477-1.png[/t][t]http://images.brickset.com/sets/images/7298-1.jpg?200710180558[/t] [t]http://images.brickset.com/sets/images/7476-1.jpg?200710180600[/t][t]http://images.brickset.com/sets/images/7297-1.jpg?200710180558[/t] [t]http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/lego/images/3/3b/7475_Box.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20100529141255[/t][t]http://images.brickset.com/sets/images/7296-1.jpg?200710180558[/t] I got the 4WD and the heli from the right, I actually prefer them without neon green projectiles. I mean it's still a massive Hind made out of Lego.
Did/does anyone still have the early Lego Mars Mission sets? I never had them but I thought the design (and the pneumatic tubes) were cool as hell as a kid.
Did/does anyone still have the early Lego Mars Mission sets? I never had them but I thought the design (and the pneumatic tubes) were cool as hell as a kid.
I never had any but a friend did and I was super jealous. It's a really cool gimmick. As much as I think the current "brick gimmicks" of stud launchers and and spring missile launchers are cool i don't they compare to old stuff with magnets and stuff. was that the only pneumatic tube set? on a similar note - anyone got rock raiders/UFO/exploriens sets? i'd probably be willing to [sp]buy or trader for them[/sp]
