The limited edition set will include seven 7-inch colored vinyl singles, one for each of the seven messages. The Christmas records have never been given general release as a set before, though one was made available as part of The Beatles Rock Band video game. The seven holiday messages were titled The Beatles Christmas Record (1963), Another Beatles Christmas Record (1964), The Beatles Third Christmas Record (1965), Pantomime -- Everywhere It's Christmas (1966), Christmas Time (Is Here Again) (1967), The Beatles Sixth Christmas Record (1968), which includes a guest appearance by Tiny Tim singing the Beatles song “Nowhere Man,” and The Beatles Seventh Christmas Record (1969). The first five take up only one side of each separate disc, while the last two are double-sided. Each single will include a sleeve with the original artwork from the fan club discs. The box will also have an added 16-page booklet with recording notes and reproductions of the fan club newsletters that was sent to fans with the original discs.
http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/8022373/the-beatles-christmas-albums-limited-edition-box-set
Yeah, fuck Carnival of Light, let's release this instead
The set looks pretty cool honestly. The Christmas records are interesting listens if you're into that sorta thing and the discs and sleeves are all nice-looking. The thing is though, it's seven different colored discs in a fancy box, throw a Beatles logo on there and that's a recipe for expense. So what the article doesn't mention is that it's $73. $10 a disc isn't awful but considering most of them are only one-sided it's pretty much just a slightly bizarre collector's item.
Though I've had recordings of these for years, it's going to be great to have physical versions of these that aren't ridiculously expensive or risking getting a bootleg
Finally I can listen to "So this is Christmas..." Without having to adopt an African kid
Finally I can listen to "So this is Christmas..." Without having to adopt an African kid
That's a John Lennon song not a Beatles song and it's actually titled Happy Xmas (War is Over)
Yeah, fuck Carnival of Light, let's release this instead
George Harrison denounced all his "avante-garde" stuff in his later years, and was absolutely adamant that Carnival of Lights never see the light of day. It's a shame because he had tried his in regards to the music genre, with "Wonderwall Music" and "Electronic Sound" in 1968, and 1969 respectively. I mean they are pretty bizarre, but they're interesting nonetheless.
George Harrison denounced all his "avante-garde" stuff in his later years, and was absolutely adamant that Carnival of Lights never see the light of day.

According to McCartney, the reason was that "he didn't like avant garde music" and referred to avant garde as "avant garde a clue".
I'm sorry but that made me chuckle.
I'm sorry but that made me chuckle.
classic george
classic george
George... McCartney?
George... McCartney?
paul discussing why george doesn't like it.
George... McCartney?
No, it's Georgie. That quote is just Paul relaying George's reason for vetoing it being included on Anthology 2.
I totally misread that because I'm stupid.
I'm picturing something like Revolution #9. And I actually kind of like that track. It's just, for lack of better word, not a typical Beatles track.
I just went and found Carnival of Light and was waiting for "Number Nine...Number Nine..."
I just went and found Carnival of Light and was waiting for "Number Nine...Number Nine..."
The one on Youtube is unfortunately a good fake. Carnival of Light has never been released in any capacity sadly...
