Not exactly, Sony and Disney came to an agreement for MCU Spider-man to happen. The Venom movie is a loophole in that agreement.

At least if this fails and they have the sell the rights there's a chance we'll get a good Venom movie
But I don't think we'll ever get a good Carnage movie under either Sony [I]or[/I] Marvel, as one's incompetent as fuck and the other's not likely to make a dark movie in the Spiderman universe after he's been included in the MCU.

A Venom movie without Spiderman can't possibly be good.
I'm all for reinventing characters if they are done well (See Flash Thompson's Venom), but you [i]need[/i] Spiderman atleast for the origin story, otherwise the symbiote is just another generic alien parasyte that gives you powers.
