Netflix has made a seven-figure rights deal, and Akiva Goldsman will set up and oversee a high-end writers’ room — similar to ones he has run for the Ology series, and the Transformers spinoffs — to generate a series of feature films with connective tissue, anchored by Liefeld’s comic book creations. Goldsman, Liefeld and Brooklyn Weaver will be the producers. Weed Road’s Greg Lessans will be exec producer. The marriage between Extreme Universe and Goldsman came out of an earlier deal for Liefeld’s Avengelyne, which he is developing to direct at Paramount. The new deal gives Netflix a shot at a branded series of films. Extreme Universe covers six comic books, encompassing more than 50 characters that include Brigade, Bloodstrike, Cybrid, Re-Gex, Bloodwulf and Kaboom. An earlier deal had been struck involving producer Graham King and Fundamental Films, but that did not work out and Netflix stepped up. “Rob Liefeld’s Extreme Universe features gritty stories and distinctive characters,” said Netflix feature film chief Scott Stuber. “Akiva’s creative voice has been behind some of the largest movie franchises, making him uniquely capable of helping bring these superheroes from the Extreme Universe to life for Netflix.”
:why:
The amount of Cinematic universes there are, I am surprised this hasn't leaked into other Media like Books, TV and Games.
I love how they always cite Liefeld as the creator of Deadpool. While that is technically true Liefelds Deadpool was just a lazy and edgy ripoff of DCs Deadshot and its later writers that made Deadpool into the character he is now.
Robert Liefeld was a cancer on the industry that I thought had finally been removed.
The satchel and pouch budget will be astronomical.

How will they even find actors with the right amount of body dysmorphia to play his characters?
Deathstroke.
I cant remember all these edgy death characters from old 90s comics man!
I hope the character's feet are always hidden behind props and the females are always standing on their pointed toes Also millions of facial wrinkles and veins.

Guys guys you're missing the best part!
Akiva Goldsman will set up and oversee a high-end writers’ room — similar to ones he has run for the Ology series, and the Transformers spinoffs
Quality assured!
The amount of Cinematic universes there are, I am surprised this hasn't leaked into other Media like Books, TV and Games.
No, I've definitely seen the concept implemented in novels- way before recent film series started doing it. Not so much with games. The most I can think of right now is maybe Half-Life and it's Gearbox side-sequels but I don't think that counts since they're under the same title, but I feel like I've also seen the same idea in games as well, just they never come together at some point, they only just share universes. And I'm sure a lot of TV shows share universes with other TV shows as well but it's not a major part of either show is all

Stop making superhero movies. On Cinema has the best fictional universe.
Cinematic universes aren't the problem. Its the shitty cinematic universes created from the hype around Cinematic Universes, and also the fact that Popular cinematic universes are currently going through a phase of overexposure. Which is what is happening to Star Wars, since people have begun to become sick of it.
We could have savage dragon or strike/cyber force or sub deal with Wildstorm if TW allowed it, but no the Bloodpouch universe. Like out of anything available. We could fucking finish Scud or Roachmill or goddamn Battle Chasers. But no HyperTrapezius Man and 18pack antigravity skislope breast girl will be our new incons of video imagination. Worst timeline. The worst.

Also, while most Ridge Racer games are set in the real world, some entries like Ridge Racer 3D and Ridge Racer 6 are set in the world of Ace Combat. http://ugsf-series.com/#galaga88
Fuck, enough of this comics shit already. You wanna throw money at something epic, fogure out a way to do a Mad Max series to explore that universe.
