Police are asking the public for help finding a missing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention employee who went home sick 10 days ago and hasn't been seen or heard from since.
Timothy Cunningham, 35, went to work on Feb. 12 and left sick, the Atlanta Police Department said. Cunningham, who studied at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, is a commander in the Public Health Service and has been sent to respond to public health emergencies including the Ebola virus and the Zika virus, according to the CDC.
The CDC in a statement called Cunningham "a highly respected member of our CDC family."
Cunningham's parents said they found his phone, wallet, car and keys, as well as his dog, at his home, reported ABC affiliate WSB in Atlanta.
"It's not the type of news you want to hear," his father, Terrell Cunningham, said, reported WSB. "Thirty-five years old, but always your child.
This just seems... Odd?
No offense, someone is missing and that is definitely something that needs to be dealt with, but the circumstances and the use of media is kinda worrying. Almost seems like they suspect that he got an illness from a lab, and are worried that it might be contagious.
Seriously, this is the kind of thing you hear in Blue Team Planner books which describe what to do in a viral outbreak.

big red flag
Patient zero of the zombie virus? :clickbait:

Have to wonder how the dog was doing, probably a pretty good indicator of how long he's been absent. Why would he leave those things though? If he had a serious disease I would expect him to report it.
Oh god the end is nigh black plague v2
Seriously though, a cdc employee going missing sounds like a plot device for a horror movie
of course we'd get a fuckin pandemic right about now, may as well with how crazy this country is going at the moment
I think y'all are blowing this way out of proportion. The CDC isn't hunting for the guy, the police are asking the public to be on the lookout for him.
The fact that he's in the CDC made this a tempting topic with a tantalizing headline for the media to report on, but this is just your average missing person case with a statement from the CDC that they'd likely publish for any employee going missing.
It sounds less like he walked off the job with an "oh my gawd patient zero!!!!" condition, and more like he was abducted for his information.
I'm not usually one to play up an alarmist notion, but this sounds a lot like the M.O. for a black-bagging by a foreign power. The only weird thing is that it usually doesn't happen in America. But, recent events I think, have finally defeated our long standing immunity to such conditions.
Holy sensationalism, goddamn
It's like you guys actually want an epidemic. Keep it to ur animes and vidyagams please.

Yeah but we're going to be bored after Facepunch collectively survives this outbreak due to none of us ever taking our gasmaks off.
Well we all know where we need to move now.

Fuck that, it’s Vegas for me
What on earth would you want to abduct a member of the CDC for? Their publications are all public. A quick google search will tell you all about their procedures, protocols, what they're working on, everything. Hell, you can find out everything about them short of where they're keeping small pox samples.
Without putting a tin foil hat on.
Its a federal government agency. You really think 100% of their stuff is public?
The government never lies. Never keeps secret. Not saying its wrong. If the CDC is doing things that isn't published, id rather not know. But if you dont think an O-5 in the Health service working at the CDC has some level of extractable Intel you're in denial.
you dont think the CDC has DOD applications? Not to cause harm, but to research ways to reduce pathogen spread? Not to get all cold war up in here, but you dont think our REACTION to a epidemics in war zone has some use to how a enemy can preemptively counter our response to a CBRNE (specifically B) threat in war?
But id put my eggs on [sp] he had a mental break down and walked into the woods to commit suicide or something [/sp]

At least it's a thrilling story. A zombie infection, I wish.
