John McCain (R-Ariz.), battling brain cancer, reflected on a life well lived in an emotional interview Sunday, saying he was “very happy” with his 81 years so far and noting, “Every life has to end, one way or another.” Speaking to Jake Tapper on CNN's “State of the Union,” McCain offered an optimistic update on his health — “the prognosis is pretty good” — and acknowledged the challenges he's facing. “Look, this is a very vicious form of cancer that I'm facing, but all the results so far are excellent,” he said. McCain gave shout-outs to the doctors overseeing his treatment, in particular the Mayo Clinic and the National Institutes of Health, and presented himself as a man at peace. “I'm very happy with my life, I'm very happy with what I have been able to do,” he said. “And there's two ways of looking at these things. And one of them is to celebrate. I am able to celebrate a wonderful life, and I will be grateful for additional time that I have.”
Not political imo but move it if you want
Yeah He's still a fuckhead, though.
Why don't you save it for a thread that isn't about someone's brain cancer?
Yeah He's still a fuckhead, though.
I know I won't be able to change your opinions on the guy, but nobody deserves to die the way he's going to.
Yeah He's still a fuckhead, though. (User was banned for this post ("Why Reply?" - Mezzokoko))
He's been the voice of the rational non-tea party Republicans and has called on numerous occasions for bipartisanship throughout his career. Comments such as these do not solve problems they only add to them.

Theres is a lot of anger at McCain recently because back when his cancer was first announced, he got some surgeries on the senator healthcare plan, which is covered by the taxpayers, just for him, a few days later, to support the repeal of Obamacare. And though he later voted against this repeal, a lot of people still felt betrayed at the irony that a man who just benifited from assisted healthcare voted to remove it from others. McCain certainly is one of the more respectable Republicans out there and I feel for anyone who has cancer, especially that of the brain, but its also important to understand the controversies surrounding him. I still wish him well though.

When it came to the bill itself he cast the decisive vote and killed it
When he did the vote for the repeal, he voted to have a debate go through. He actually did the right thing and wanted to have the bill read aloud and be discussed rather than just having a blind vote.

In fact, I'd go as far to say, "he deserved it". That's Hitler, though. McCain seems like he's a good guy at heart, or at least certainly has the capacity to be one. He's certainly acted like a bit of a cunt, it seems, but he certainly doesn't deserve brain cancer. I'd reserve that for the worst of people.

He didn't say 'lets repeal obamacare'. He said "lets TALK ABOUT WHAT TO DO regarding obamacare" and later said "btw everyone's ideas here suck don't repeal it yet" by voting no.
this moment was pretty great. Especially when you look at the sapped look and disbelief of his colleagues.
Especially the look on the Turtle's face.
Just remember that if it had been any other Republican in John McCain's place, the vote would have passed and Obamacare may be gone by now.
