Noire, are scheduled to release on November 14, 2017 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Alongside these three new console versions, we're taking our first steps into virtual reality with L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, featuring seven select cases from the original game rebuilt specifically for a virtual reality experience on the HTC VIVE. Set against the seedy and violent underbelly of 1940’s Los Angeles, L.A. Noire is the story of decorated veteran and newly minted detective Cole Phelps as he investigates an escalating series of cases inspired by real-world crimes. Each successfully solved case brings Phelps greater success, but also brings him closer to the dark criminal heart of post-war L.A. L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files for HTC Vive delivers seven of the original engrossing, self-contained cases from L.A. Noire rebuilt specifically for virtual reality, blending breathtaking action with true detective work to deliver an unprecedented interactive experience. L.A. Noire for the Nintendo Switch features the complete original game and all additional downloadable content, with specific enhancements including a Joy-Con mode with gyroscopic, gesture-based controls, HD rumble and new wide and over-the-shoulder camera angles, plus contextual touch screen controls for portable detective work. L.A. Noire for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One delivers the complete original game and all additional downloadable content with a range of technical enhancements for greater visual fidelity and authenticity, including enhanced lighting and clouds, new cinematic camera angles, high resolution textures and more. Plays natively in 1080p for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, and stunning 4K for PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, these versions capture the grit and grime of the City of Angels like never before.
http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/60266/4-New-Versions-of-L-A-NOIRE-Coming-November-14
L.A. Noire is literally the last game I thought would ever get ported to the Switch
holy shit, that VR stuff sounds like it'd kick ass
We need more AAA games that try something a little bit different like LA Noire
Honestly never expected Rockstar to come back to Nintendo machines after their flirtations in the Wii/DS era. Must be quite a coup for them.
Totally unexpected. (the Switch port, One/PS4 port aren't as surprising) It's awesome to see Rockstar even taking advantage of the Switch's features. I own this game already on PC, so I probably won't pick up the Xbox version, but if I had a Switch I'd definitely get it for that.
same post as I made on gtaf, but damn - Rockstar wading into the VR world, shame it's not a RAGE game since that would have interesting implications for...future titles, but looks like it'll be a solid AAA VR game/experience which VR could do with more of
I've yet to play LA Noire but i feel like i should give this a look. I wonder if they are going to port over Max Payne 3.
I've yet to play LA Noire but i feel like i should give this a look. I wonder if they are going to port over Max Payne 3.
max payne 3 really deserves more love. i know it's not as well-written or stylish as the first two but the gameplay is way too good
where's the enhancements for the pc versions? i remember people said almost everything was capped at 30fps. Rockstar at it again screwing the pc players
I've yet to play LA Noire but i feel like i should give this a look. I wonder if they are going to port over Max Payne 3.
Imagine all the people breaking ribs and necks attempting Bullet Time jumps in VR. :v:
Imagine all the people breaking ribs and necks attempting Bullet Time jumps in VR. :v:
I mean, Sairento VR exists and we don't have that problem.
!!! Jesus, I am actually floored by this. LA Noire is one of the last games I played that actually blew me away story-wise. Absolutely love it, and it deserved a remaster so, so much. Next up, Red Dead Redemption.
LA noire is seriously underrated tbh. I gotta finish it tho but I'll pick up the ps4 version for sure
Facial animations were recorded in 30 fps.
they could just interpolate the animations.
Hopefully there will be some form of Rift support. Never played the original but I would be interested in the VR version.
Funny, I replayed it just this past week and a half. Really was not expecting this to get a re-release. I wonder what the upgrades are gonna be because some of it has aged really bad. Shame they can't fix the writing, though.
Man, and I was just complaining to me of my buddies about he fact that the 360 version wasn't backward compatible and I had a hankering to replay it. Here's hoping they manage to get a sequel.
I guess they're seeing if they should make a sequel judging by the port's sales. Make it happen.
I'd like to see them finish Whore of the Orient, which was the tragically dead sequel they were originally working on. Unfortunately afaik Team Bondi closed, so I feel like a true successor isn't going to happen.
There was a rumour long ago that Rockstar was testing out the Switch sales figures with L.A. Noire before venturing further with the console. Definitely surprised to see them add a small VR component for the Vive though, sad that there is no new content but then again the state of Team Bondi means there would not be any way to develop anything new anyways.
I feel like if Rockstar tried their hand at it themselves, they could make a worthy successor. LA Noire really could have benefitted from being less rigid and more like a GTA/RDR game. I mean, it would be hard to do with its case structure, but not impossible if they shook it up a little, added some more action-y missions and fixed up the combat.
how the fuck did they get the game to run on the switch?
I wonder if they'll port GTA V next to switch

Apparently Rockstar was looking into making Team Bondi a Rockstar Sydney of some sorts until they realized Bondi's management was made up of horrible people. Apparently Rockstar still owns the LA Noire property (big shock) and they apparently have a few ex-Bondi people in their staff so they could easily do it.
!!! Jesus, I am actually floored by this. LA Noire is one of the last games I played that actually blew me away story-wise.
Eh, the story has plenty of issues, ranging from minor to major. Jack Kelso especially suffers from absolutely wretched writing, which got really bad[sp]after the very last flashback after the credits.[/sp]
how the fuck did they get the game to run on the switch?
Well it can run on 360/PS3
how the fuck did they get the game to run on the switch?
I mean, it is a last-gen title. It came out 8 years ago.
Not sure Rockstar is actually interested in making a sequel because the original game caused them a lot of headaches. But if they are, fuck yes. Literally one of my favorite games ever. A lot of its ground-breaking aspects got undermined by its failed gameplay potential in my opinion. The size, detail and realism of the map still blows me away to this day, along with all of its interiors. Incredible work that puts any open-world Bethesda game to shame. [editline]7th September 2017[/editline]
where's the enhancements for the pc versions? i remember people said almost everything was capped at 30fps. Rockstar at it again screwing the pc players
There's a tool to uncap the game, but the facial animations remain at 30 FPS and the cars become less responsive. Still doesn't ruin the experience, I've done the game a couple of times at 60 FPS. Some car chases get quite difficult though.
Not sure Rockstar is actually interested in making a sequel because the original game caused them a lot of headaches.
From what information is out there, the headaches mostly came from the fact that they were working with an external development team and not their own. They didn't have the amount of control they wanted and Bondi's management was supposedly made of obnoxious idiots. A sequel doesn't have that problem. It can be done in-house.
they could just interpolate the animations.
You can't really interpolate video, which is basically what the facial animations are. The VR stuff sounds super interesting, the facial animations are going to be really interesting to see in VR. I wonder why it's only for the Vive, seems like weird exclusivity to make.
Hopefully the PC version will have an uncapped framerate this time. Trying to drive a car at 60fps in that game is like playing snes mario kart. Not to mention the facial animtions having a habit of fucking up.
