The best living voice in classical Turkish music was mistaken and revered as Buddha because of her generously applied make-up during a visit to a landmark temple in Nepal's capital Kathmandu for a reality show.
Bülent Ersoy, a famous transgender signer dubbed as the "Turkish diva," visited Boudhanath Temple along with the co-stars of "Dünya Güzellerim" (Beauties of the World), a reality show aired by Turkish broadcaster Show TV.
The 65-year-old performer, who was wearing an orange sari and white face make up, immediately attracted attention from over visitors, who began to crowd around her.
With the state that Turkey is in, I was seriously expecting something far worse than this. Thank god it's actually pretty fucking lighthearted in comparison.
Wow, these guys must have absolutely no idea how Buddha is supposed to look

Buddha originally wasn't depicted as very thicc though.
Buddha is the chill-af regular thiccness dude wth tight curly hair
Budai is the mostly unrelated but often confused-for-Buddha jolly fat golden god

In fact, Buddha during his ascetic period is decidedly unthicc.
hell, in the early iconography, he'd never be depicted in his bodily form either, but always as a representation (think empty throne, his feet, etc.)
