The department of transportation allowed foreign technicians, which were not security-tested, to receive sensitive data. Sweden's television has taken note of documents from the Armed Forces which say that the entire defense's vehicle register is included among the data.
This is huge and should lead to some incompetent people in our government getting sacked.
Holy shit. Now that is a huge fuck up. Having your whole military vehicle database unsecured and accessible to a third-party is a huge dent on security.
Well then, that's one hell of a fuck up. And there's nothing they can realistically do now. They just have to plan around it, knowing that every country in the world has their full vehicle inventory list.
Whoops. Ya fucked up.

It'd be like a god damn shopping for the enemy. "Welp, they've got two more Anti Air systems in their entire arsenal. And since we know where they're positioned, literally everywhere else is now target practice for our pilots"
whoops, sorry bout that
Thank god, we have been in need of a kick in the butt for a long time now imo. Maybe we can finally purge the corrupt and incompetent.
I wonder if this includes SOG stuff, or if that's kept way way off the list
They're known for being incredibly secretive about themselves

They're even careful to blur out serial numbers and distinct attachments in PR photos so it's harder to trace them through manufacturers

To be honest, I don't think they got into the positioning database as in where they are stationed. But having knowledge of your enemies defense systems and other capabilities is extremely worrying.
And of course is it Sweden's government who has yet another colossal fuck-up, it is like being incompetent is their government's trademark at this rate.

i dunno buddy. our governent needs many improvements but i pretty sure america is the current king of incompetency

Yet another? Name 5 others then
They also leaked the entire Criminal registry and Suspect registry... we outsourced the thing to another country and 3 people got sudo access without being cleared via security, our secret police SÄPO even warned Transportstyrelesen not to outsource this information abroad in 2015

I doubt it. SOG operational data is not likely kept in the same place as the rest of the SAF and Homeguard.
Outsourcing work as a military force is just a bad idea
Well I mean Sweden is neutral so if they were invaded wouldn't that make a shit storm on anyone who invaded them? Unless you refer to criminals and terrorists which is another story.
i dunno buddy. our governent needs many improvements but i pretty sure america is the current king of incompetency
Obviously there are governments that are a lot worse, but among the Scandinavian/Nordic ones ours is definitely the most clownish
And this incident, while a massive fuck up, doesn't really change much considering we barely even had an army in the first place
Luckily the Swedish Defense Forces in Finland are uncomprimised.

Not like we'd win a war anyway.
Outsourcing work as a military force is just a bad idea
The SAF didn't outsource, it was the Department of Transportation
Yet another? Name 5 others then
Someone leaked the entire list of vehicle registrations by people with protected identities like last week, which is a pretty fucking big deal.
Our government is pretty well here known to be incompetent as shit, but unlike the US it actually functions pretty well if you just throw enough money at it to make up for all the fuckups and inefficiency. Can't really write a check to fix this one though.

I think hes trying to say that if foreign powers keep tally of these installations and where they are (which im sure happens to some capacity), and they see their count was pretty close to accurate then they have a good idea of what locations arent that secure
As far as I know a large part of the problem is that it's basically impossible to be terminated from a government position, neither due to downsizing or simply for being an incompetent chucklefuck. So it ends up pooling up people who cling onto the job security and means people who are utterly inept just end up getting transfer-pinballed. There are also some rules for the state (AFAIK, at least in Stockholms Landsting) that prevent someone new from being hired if there's someone with the qualifications available who's already employed.

saying something else is worse doesn't exactly make the subject in question any better

Why take a picture with focus on the suppressor if you're gonna blur it out anyway?

oh yeah thats why i didnt say "our goverment needs many improvements". of course, youre absolutely right.

To be honest I was thinking the same, and not becuse Sweden is neutral, but becuse trying to wage war against any EU country would probably be a realy bad idea alltogether.

Yes, politicians in general gets off the hook for these things way to easy but every once in a while they do get sacked, understand that they need to leave their position or get talked into leaving with some big parachute (don't know if this is an expression in English).
What's strange is that some politicians get fired/leave for small things like buying Toblerone for taxpayer money or slapping someone who's all up in their face, while someone who does something exceptionally stupid like leaking national secrets, essentially committing treason get off the hook relatively easy.
This person/people should really be behind bars according to our laws but they are politicians so the law doesn't apply to them.

I'm not talking about politicans, that's a circus of its own (though it still works relatively well). I'm talking about everyone working jobs for the state/municipal agencies, who tend to be disproportionally incompetent (not necessarily lacking qualifications, more so just being plain dumb), causing shit like this to happen all the time.

I've yet to deal with a single incompetent state or regional worker, and I'm currently hospitalized in a Region Skåne hospital. I've dealt with a number of agencies on my year long stay here and I've never felt anybody was unfit for their job. Neither have my family or friends, in my experience it was very common to receive documents earlier than their estimates.
